Not confirmed yet, but they've said they want to do it and they asked what we'd like to see in it. Plans could change of course but I  think we're going to get one.

I'd like to see cut content make its way back into the game, and new combat ideas perhaps. It all depends on what direction they want to take with remastering, and everyone seems to do it. Even when the game is like not even a year old.

Yeah. Bioware  should definitely put that cut content back in. Most of it is already recorded, they just need to slap it in. As for combat -- I say let Ash use the Omni Blade.

Be pretty awesome, Ashley was always the human tank. So she'd be deadly with omni blade.

I never understood why only Shepard had one. It felt like a missed opportunity to make the combat more dynamic imo. I mean -- The squadmates already had the melee attacks.

@ SJNKD

I read the first chapter of that fanfic, it is pretty good for a first outing. In my experience when someone thinks "Meh, it's okay. I guess." most peole will think it is fairly good. Writing, even using established characters/ worlds, is not the easiest thing.

Same here. There were times where I was expecting to see it used by them, at least in a scene (if not direct combat).

But one can hope for a remastered Trilogy with all the extras thrown in AND cut content. It would be pointless not not put it in if they already have it, they already have to go back and tweak things anyway; to remaster, I mean.

Isn't there a new Dev team working on Mass effect now? If so, maybe we'll get lucky and the'll actually care about Ashley.

New development team yes, but it's a whole new story so 99.99% no Ashley either way.

The new development team is currently working from Bioware Montréal, a studio they opened about 4-5 years ago taking advantage of the numerous tax breaks offered to technology companies like videogame design ones. All their other studios in Canada and the US always report to Edmonton (Bioware HQ, we may call it), but I suppose they have quite an amount of autonomy. Most of the people working from Montréal were not around during the development of Mass Effect 1, their work on the saga began around the time of ME 2 or ME 3.

I believe writer Jay Watamaniuk officially relocated to Montréal last year and is closely working with the majority of the creative team for the next Mass Effect. Unfortunately, we all know the real heart behind Mass Effect original writing was Karpyshyn, L'Étoile, Weekes and Kristjanson, reinforced with John Dombrow at the time ME 2 was underway. Weekes and L. Krjstianson still work for Bioware, but the latter works almost exclusively for the Dragon Age stuff now, and Weekes switches between teams. I hope he gets reassigned to Mass Effect ASAP, he's one of the most talented writers left at the company. I will reserve my opinion about Walters but my intuition tells me not all the aforementioned writers got along with "Hack", i just got that vibe from bits and pieces in comments they have made, without giving out specific names or issues with the person in question. Like I said,it's intuition, I have no proof to back this up.

I am not very optimistic about the inclusion of Ash, in some capacity, in the next Mass Effect or the restoration of the buggy dialogue lines in ME 3, his writer for this third game should have been more vocal about these bugs at the time the game was being coded and tested.

I hope I'm wrong, but we look at these games as passionate fans that observe all the little details, other people simply look at the Mass Effect games as the marketable product of their work (which is ok); the fact that ME 3 is generally very functional and the Ash content is technically ok (nothing game-breaking, although the marksman glitch is a pain and some of that missing dialogue was amazing), they just consider it's good enough for green light.

I would think, as 'artists' as they call themselves, would be interested in correcting as many flaws as possible. Especially if their job is to update and improve a project that was already released. It won't break the bank to include Ashleys lines, if they don't do it then they are lazy or they don't care about her. I'm optimistic though, so we'll see.

My little sister writes the fanfiction, I don't have her writing talents. Wish I did, she's got a creative mind. She's trying to explore and work on getting better whilst writing this fanfiction. She talks about the fact you can never stop learning, I know she's working on original content for the series. and I still laugh at the fact she has no idea what she wants to do with her life.

As I said before, just put content back in and maybe new content for combat in terms for squadmembers. New lines for squadmembers and use the new engine to update the series and give more exploration.

I've also read the first chapter of your sister's fanfic and found it really good. You can tell her she is doing a good job IMO.

I read her latest chapter she posted, she writes sex scenes a little too well that I should probably just skip them myself. I'm now wondering if she's ashley, which is giving me the creeps.

I liked the chapter, SJNKD. I agree with you, your sister gave plenty of details in the last paragraphs...

On a different note, I was wondering how silly the ME3 writers idea of having Allers on the Normandy SR-2 is. The interviews in ME 3 are quite "irrelevant" in the sense that nothing critical is revealed. In reality, this would be the case 100% of the time. The Alliance wouldn't let their personnel on a war vessel go on an interview completely "off the cuff", all questions would have to be listed and approved by someone, no important details like full names, family details or participation in specific past operations would be easily divulged.

Also, one line didn't feel right (constructive criticism, and being nitpicky, I know), I don't think Williams would go on record saying she wanted to punch her commanding officer, not even in an informal, half-joking statement. Which also leads me to a question, Was it common knowledge in the ME universe that Shepard had actually been killed? I know some characters use this fact for shtick comedy lines, but I mean if the Alliance and the Council openly divulged info about the Lazarus project and Shepard's temporary ties to Cerberus.

I do see how Joker could be interviewed and make comments about his own beard, nothing that the enemy can listen to and use against him.

Ok, enough ranting, I don't want to be that guy that complains too much. It was a fun read and I'm making progress with my own chapter as well. Cheers!

Allers was thrown in ME3 because Chobot was friends with people at Bioware. I could understand giveing her a funny little cameo -- But a full fledged role? Ridiculous. Especially with that voice acting. So many wasted rescources that could have gone to Ash :(

Hi, I'm actually the sister. He shouldn't leave himself logged in when falls asleep on the couch lol.
I just thought perhaps two years, no contact. I thought Ashley might want to punch him, horizon sucked and I try to make it the best I can, so I thought I chuck it in and see what people think. Thanks for the advice, I don't get any reviews, except my brothers obviously from the way he talks on this. Being nosy, don't mind me.
Joker has always needed something about the beard, he's the only character who has one I believe other than Shepard's stubble. And well, full names I think can be mentioned. Let's be honest, the crew is pretty famous so anyone on board would be well known i think. I just classified Traynors job because it's security risks.
I've also gone with Shepard stating that he died just because it's easier for the public to understand but he hasn't explained what brought him back. Leave it a mystery I suppose.
And my brother just gets creeped out because he has no sex life anymore lol. I just read what other people write and take their core ideas and use them to help me write a decent sex scene.

This is one of the most fun replies I have ever got in an Internet forum. Keep up the good work!

glad I did that for you, I'm working on original content. Trying to make it so im not following the storyline too much, get to develop characters more as not much was done in ME3. I just hope I'm making Ashley's gap interesting.

@SJNKD/ sister

That is kind of how I started. You have to get core ideas somewhere, then make it your own. The hardest thing is trying to stay as accurate to an established character, like Ash. Somethings are easy to justify based on lines from the game, others you have to find a way to explain; meaning "she did this because Shep did that."

Cpt.Data has posted some pretty good convorsations in the past, and they seem to be pretty accurate for Ashley's character. Though, some are a little...odd, sometimes.

Sure was. Post ME2, Pre ME3. We were all just wondering if Ash would get more than a 5 minute cameo in ME3 back then. Remember when that Game informer article came out with a picture of Ash with her new look; also confirming she was returning as a squadmember? The Ashley thread went crazy!

I think I still have that Game Informer issue. Everyone was wondering what was going on with her, and why she changed from the more "soldier" look. I know that I was quite excited.

I wish Ashley was wearing a regular Alliance uniform -- but the Long hair, I like. I wish they would have left the hair dialogue between her and Shepard in. Fingers crossed for the remaster.

Full Citadel DLC with Ashley Williams AND Kaidan Alenko, I thought it was really interesting. Ash and Kaidan are my fav. characters in the trilogy, and it was really cool to see this savegame edited so they´re both available for all missions. I hope you enjoy this finding :)

I've thought for some time that maybe it was a mistake to kill off one of the two in ME1. It was an awesome moment, in terms of eliciting an emotional response from the player. However, in the long run it effectively shoehorned two different characters into the same path. Realistically, Kaidan and Ash should have very different stories if they survive, given that they are very different people. But, once they became an "either/or," limited time and resources meant that they effectively became the same person.

Anyway... just thought I'd post something today to say "hi." I still check in from time to time, even though I'm not really playing Mass Effect anymore. Instead, I just finished Human Revolution last weekend, and now I've moved on to Civilization V.

Still waiting for more information on the new game. Not sure if I'll do another playthrough when they announce or not. I've already played them so many times. And, even with the EC, the ending to ME3 always seems to loom over any trilogy playthrough.
