that feeling never ever leaves. no matter what it is you loved, and lost.

I don’t really have much time to play videogames, but I consider Mass Effect my guilty pleasure. I hate Star Wars, I don't identify with "geek culture", but man, Mass Effect took me back to my creative childhood and the days where you could just let your imagination fly.
Like DWH and Kallikilic said, it’s a tough love with this franchise. There are plenty of things it got right, and then thing that, in my humble opinion, they got wrong, in retrospective. But despite the disappointments, I pushed my brother to complete the 3 games after he had been forced to interrupt his first playthrough. Same impressions that I had had, in fact we talked a lot about our own impressions and I made sure he picked the ending I knew would be the most satisfactory (or less traumatic) when completing the game for the first time.
Those of us that started with Mass Effect 1 when it was only available for Xbox and PC back in 07-08 succeeded in sending Bioware a message: we liked this product and, by all means, we gave them a vote of confidence to continue with this brand. Even if Case Hudson & Co. had thought about making a trilogy, they admitted it was never a 100% guarantee, it depended heavily on how successful the game would be in the limited amount of platforms it was released on. I remember buying the damn game just as it came out for PC and trying it on five different rigs
And it didn't work!!! Ah, the memories... You needed a NASA computer to run the thing. But it was so much worth the wait!
Ok, no more sappiness. If you'd like to have a few laughs, this youtuber's reviews (8-9 minutes long) of Me 2 and 3 are hilarious, and it lightens the mood when looking back at the virtues and flaws of these two games

Have a good one!
Honestly guys; if I've learned anything over the years, it's that when it comes to entertainment fiction nothing is truly over forever. Halo brought the Master Chief back, new Dragonball Z movies are getting theatrical releases years after the shows orginal TV run, Star Wars is returning with the orginal cast, Marvel and DC superheros are more popular than ever 60+ years after their intial creation, ect. ect.
I'm confident we'll see Shepard, Ash, and the rest of the Normandy crew again someday.
We'll see. Part of that may be determined by how well the new character/new crew do.

you're toying with my heart. lol
no but what really got to me yesterday was listening to this
yes...them memories. even the damn loading screens in ME2, i got attached to.
If they ever do bring the original crew back, I wonder how well Ash will be written, and if she'll actually play a major role.
My biggest concern would be a "reboot" of ME1 that downgrades Ash's role considerably. Right now, ME1 is mostly all we have in terms of major Ash content.

i just realised one of my friends is quite tom-boyish, outspoken, bold, courageous, beautiful, charming, sexy.
I HAVE FOUND A REAL-LIFE ASHLEY.
must marry now.

But does she read poetry? And does she kill things with big guns?

Nice find kalikilic, both with the girl and the music.

Unless of course he gets her to role play! I've seen a few chicks wearing Ashley's ME3 armor at conventions.

Then it would be acceptable, although, she might still be creeped out.

Unless her name is Ashley ![]()

You mean just the ME1 characters?
speculation time
I do believe Shepard will come back. If not, I won't lose any sleep
Anyways. Its good that the next game will feature new characters and new areas to explore. It gives them time to get away from the trilogy for awhile. It will also give extra time to come up with a new story for Shepard if he/she returns, new missions and whatever else.
My only concern, if they bring Shepard back, is will they use a default ME3 playthrough as an import or an ME3 playthrough with an import from ME1/ME2. If they use a default ME3 playthrough, all characters from ME2 are gone and resources won't have to be used for those characters and would be used for other parts of the game.
If they use an ME3 playtrhrough with an import from ME2, they have to consider x number of characters from ME2 are alive. A few can be easily explained not to show up. I would include MIranda and Jack in the game since both are LI for Shepard and certainly be alive if romanced.
The other possibility is using an Mass Effect keep similiar to the Dragon Age keep.
If they do bring Shepard back, I would guess it would be released in 2019/2020.
I do like Ashley as a squadmate and seeing her again would be nice.
Again. This is all guesswork/speculation on my part and if it never happens, I won't lose any sleep

i eventually got to the point where i wont lose any sleep if we never see shepard and/or related characters again.
the "mass effect keep" idea is a nice one though. its very likely that, if a return to the shepard storyline happens, a similar world state feature will be done.
who doesnt like ashley as a squadmate? xD
*back on earth at a memorial site after RI*
Ash: *approaching moderately injuried Shepard, arm in sling+bandage over left eye.* "Hey skipper. You ok?"
Shepard: "... yea *scoffs* - Actually no, I'm not. Not OK by a long shot."
Ash: "If it's any help. I'm sorry... about Anderson. He was a dear friend of yours."
Shepard: "More than that. He - He was... something like a father."
Ash: "Admiral'd be proud of you, Jon. You did it. You defeated the Reapers.
Shepard: Not quickly enough."
Ash: "Shepard. For god's sake, you can't save everyone. Inevitably, people die."
Shepard: "Knowing doesn't make it any easily. Chr*st, I know I should be used to this, but this just f*cking gnawls at me. I told them this would happen! I warned them, and warned them."
Ash: "Skipper - It sucks. But you saved the galaxy from extinction. You can't discredit that."
Shepard: Oh - but the council will. *grumble*
Ash: "Ah yes - the council. A flimsley coalition of - pfft haha, sorry, couldn't do that with a straight face. lol"
Shepard: "I think I've been a very bad influence on you... lol"
Ash: "Shut up Jon and let's take a walk."
Shepard: "Heh - Yes ma'am."
Is it creepy that Aurora wrote about Anderson dying and it actually happened.

Also one of my favs because PANCAKES! I LOVE PANCAKES.
Oh, and Ashley just completes it.

as i said in the writer's corner, i'm gonna make an attempt to revive my old blog from the previous forum. i have all my old pieces and will post those up first with the aim of writing new content.
the newest idea i just got is inspired by a picture i came across; two pictures to be exact. one can be seen above.
I lol'ed at the angst in that post. seems ill-informed but whatever.
I didn't get to see the post but I'm sure I know what it entailed. Honestly, I've stopped paying attention to what Ashley haters think or say -- they aren't worth the energy. They say nothing that resembles substance, it's all just ill informed bile from thirteen year old boys and girls who gravitate to poorly written mary and garry sues\stews. They live vicariously through Mass effect, because in the real world they don't have drop dead gorgeous stalker-groupie chicks or over the top dude bros to stroke their fragile egos in every conversation.
By the time we got to ME3, Ashley may not have been as great of a character as she once was ( honestly, you can say that about a lot of things in the franchise at that point) but in ME1 she was one of the best written characters in any type of fiction I had ever seen. And I bullshit you not, there is barely an Iconic fictional story in comics, short film, independent film, block buster film, novels, video games, ect. ect. That I haven't read, played, or watched.I haven't seen it all, but i've seen more than enough to have an informed opinion. And that's not bragging, that's just to say I've been around, and I've seen the stories and the characters that the world and the anals of history proclaim to be 'The Best" and as far as video game characters are concerned; Ashley deserves to be in the conversation.
It's almost tragic that such an amazing character has been wasted on such a shitty and undeserving fandom, and squandered by Chirs L Etolie's cohorts after ME1. But that's life. Something like Firefly dies an untimley death... While things like Keeping Up With The Kardashians and American Idol thrive and live on... C'est la vie.
