@ashlover mark 2

A problem that I see with some of the fanbase is that they came into ME on 2 or 3, then went back and played 1. I know a couple of people that did this, and they do not like somethings about ME1, and already decided that they do not like certain characters based on what they were exposed to before they actually put in time with ME1. It probably is not helped by the fact that Bioware lost a few of their best writers before ME2 was even halfway complete, then add the fact that a lot of people do not like being questioned by other characters, or do not bother to talk to them more than once.

Now I will say that I have recently seen the occasional change of opionion. Some have at least "watched" the full Ash romance from ME1 to 3 and have changed their minds. Not many have, but some and that is something.

MEHEM 0.5 brought me back. ;)

So far the creator confirmed plans for a 0.6 and 0.7 release - so we're going to see an even more polished happy ending for Shepard and - in our case - Ash. I started another playthrough for the new MEHEM (which is way more compatible thanks to the DLC-revision it got).

Also I'm currently writing at "Mass Effect Reboot" - my very own personal enjoyment*. So far my test chapter "Eden Prime" is 70% done. Too bad I had to write it in German since, you know, my English isn't perfect enough to type it down in English. Dialogue is not entirely intact but as close as possible to what they said in the game. For those who're able to read German I'll hand you over some parts of it - especially the scene where Shepard & Kaidan meet Ash should be interesting, right? ;)

Not sure if I ever can finish that one 'though. Not enough time, too much to do.

Also one thing is for sure: IF I finish this, Ashley is, obviously, Shepard's LI. However, I won't put Ash in every possible scene just to ensure everyone get the idea "this is the right girl". She'll have more or less the same role in ME1, gets an expanded one in ME2 and a complete overhaul in ME3, so to speak. Let's say I don't like the "boozer Ash who's complaining all day". I'm more into the tough soldier Williams - who's droping that image for - and ONLY for Shepard - in her private moments. She'll be best friends with Tali, Garrus & Joker. Everybody likes Joker. *g*

--------------------

* the last time a guy said this, he wrote "Hobbit" and "Lord of the Rings". Who knows where I'm going to end with that line? *g*

I'll think about it. Ah heck with it, here you go (warning: spoiler tags, german language)

Spoiler

It's the short scene where Shepard is meeting Ash & recruiting her for his squad.

Thanks ;)

I could translate that little part, but I'm -really- too lazy to translate that entire chapter which already spans nearly 10 pages ... O.o

Must find a professional translator once I'm done *g*

It is good to see you back Cpt.Data, and pretty good intro piece too.

And people told me I would never use German. Ha! That said I have used Spanish (Tex-Mex really) more, so they were kind of correct.

Thanks ;)

The difficult part is to re-create the feeling of that first mission - and reduce the amount of fights. Really, nobody wants to read a book consisting of 80% of battles and violence, so to speak. Another challenge is to know what's going to be needed to keep the story intact. I'm not sure if the decision "Virmire" is really required to keep the story working, for instance.

Once I'm done with the test chapter I may release it as PDF, including all side-facts required to create that chapter.

It might read better as a story if the "decision" just happens due to circumstances.

As it stands, the Virmire decision has quite an emotional impact on the player the first time it happens. However, after you think about it a bit, it starts to fall apart. (Were Ash/Kaiden really the only two who could guard the bomb and go with the salarians? Didn't the Normandy have other Alliance marines? Why couldn't they help? Why couldn't other members of the squad extract whoever Shepard didn't go after? And so forth)

Really nice to see they're still working on the Mehem mod, for me it revived the series, it allowed me to enjoy ME3 and its ending again.

The fact they're still working on it is just an awesome sign of how the games continue to live on, and rightfully so.

I've always wanted Shepard in ME4, as I felt the story wasn't done, and while he/she probably won't be in it (at most there will be a reference), I'm sure there will be more in ME5. ME 5 'the Return of Shepard', I can see it happening. And Ash should be there, and this time, they better give her a proper story (in contrast to ME2).

Nah, I don't think we'll see Shepard again in more than just a short cameo role - depending on the ending canonized. If they pick "destruction" - doubtful, if they want to keep the Geth alive - there's a chance s/he's still alive. Otherwise Shepard may only return as "Avatar" - not as Shepard him/herself, but as representation of his/her former self.

Also I don't believe we're going to see Ash again. If we can import old savegames from ME3 there's a slight chance we'll see her again or we may her about her whereabouts, but that's it. If there's no way to import savegames, there's no chance we'll see her again.

If they use a Mass Effect keep similiar to the Dragon Age Keep. its possible to see Ashley and others in a future game

This is the most likely, as the next ME will be on Xbox One and PS4. (Or the next iteration of those depending on release.) As for characters from ME 1-3 they will most likely only be mentioned or small cameos. I am thinking something like Giana Parasini in ME2. As much as I would love to continue with Shepard and crew in a post-war setting I am happy with the way it is. I see it as a chance to fill it in with my own ideas for where everything goes for the next 100 or so years.

I started reading it - and wonder why I missed this one. ;)

That's a bit of a dialogue I'm playing with for a couple of days now:

Hackett: So this is your recommendation? This man?

Anderson: Yes, Admiral. I can't think of a better candidate than him,

Hackett: I see. Shepard, hmm. Lots of recommendations here and there and a Star of Terra.

Anderson: There's a report for that particular event attached to his file. Saved a colony from Batarian raiders single-handedly.

Hackett: I'll give it a read later. Hmmm ... and there, he got invited to the N-Program. Made it to N7 within five years, as an infiltration agent. Aren't you N7 as well, Captain?

Anderson: One of the first class. I know Shepard from our time in the N-Program.

Hackett: I see. If you say Shepard is the right man, I believe you. And I'm sure Udina will give green light as well, after all, it was him pushing for a Spectre candidate.

Anderson: Thank you Sir.

Hackett: There's one more thing, Anderson. The Normandy is almost ready for her maiden voyage and I heard you're still in need of an XO. It seems you've found your man.

Anderson: Sir? Shepard is no Navy officer.

Hackett: Doesn't matter, he'll get the basics in no-time. Once he's fully prepared, someone sent by the Council is going to oversee Shepard's actions in a series of missions. It's a Turian named Nihlus - who's a Spectre most likely. If that's true, Shepard shouldn't know about his true nature, otherwise he wouldn't act normally as he would. Do you understand?

Anderson: Yes, Sir.

Hackett: Good. We'll talk about details later, Anderson. I'm sure Udina has questions for you. Dismissed, Captain. Make sure the Normandy is fully prepared.

I'm not sure if I still have the stuff 'though. Sometimes I write some long dialogue and ... no. Don't work. :(

Shepard: Everyone is talking about the "good ol' times". Garrus, Joker, Wrex ... everyone. Don't get me wrong, we had a great time together, but I definitely don't wish back the Reapers.

Ashley: Oh yes. All the "good times". The only good thing I still have from that time is sitting right next to me.

Conrad: I know exactly what you mean, Commander. Cheers. *drinks some strange booze*

Shepard: No. No, you don't Conrad. *smirks*

Conrad: Ugh. That stuff tastes horrible.

Shepard: Yeah. You had to order ryncol, right?

Conrad: Of course! The great Commander Shepard always drinks ryncol before going to battle!

Shepard: No, he doesn't. You're still doing that fan-stuff, aren't you?

Conrad: Nah, not really. I'm still trying to get my old life back. You know, before I became your fan. I even signed for the Alliance Navy.

Ashley: And what did they say?

Conrad: Cat6. I'm too old they said. For ground duty. And I'm not experienced enough to become an officer.

Shepard: You still could apply for the AEC, you know. Our engineering corps. After all you have a degree.

Conrad: I thought about that too. Do you think I should give it a try?

Shepard: What should go wrong? In worst case they say no. That's all.

Conrad: Hmmm. Okay, I'll give it a try. Who knows, maybe I'll end on the Normandy as engineer!

Ashley: *coughs* Nah. We're totally fine with Adams, Conrad.

Conrad: I still can be better than him. You'll see. *gets up* Time for Conrad Verner to apply for the AEC!

Shepard: Why does it suddenly feel like a bad idea to tell him about the AEC?

Ashley: Do you fear he'll get transferred to the Normandy as engineer?

Shepard: No. I just get the feeling the poor guy may do something stupid.

Ashley: At least he doesn't try to be like you anymore.

Shepard: Maybe. I'm not even sure about that. C'mon, Verner, don't do something stupid. I always feel bad after one of our talks.

Ashley: You worry after him?

Shepard: He may be obsessed and is a bit pesky, but he's no bad guy after all.

Ashley: True. He also got some nice ass. *laughs*

Conrad in the AEC? I could see it, he would be so proud. I would however recomend that he be placed nearly anywhere except the Normandy. I doubt he would be able to focus long enough to actually get any work done.

I have been busy with life, but I'm close to finishing the next installment in Spectres and Assassins. I'm working on the last episode and the epilogue at the same time and it brings so many memories back. I think you'll love these last chapters. Meanwhile, as a way of bringing something fresh after a long hiatus, I wanted to share this beautiful theme from the ME 1 soundtrack that isn't always included in the official playlists. It symbolizes a lot: the first time we finished this incredible story, our faith that the franchise is not completely dead and it can be reborn with good writing and returning to its original ideas, our hope that no matter the odds, there's hope as long as we... take that iconic breath at the end of our personal "crucible" ;)

Here you go:

Hey, im trying to find the cut dialogue to ME3 with Shepard and ashley talking about the afterlife but I can't find it. Does anyone have an idea where I could find it or a link perhaps?

It's do with my fanfiction and I've logged on to try and find it but I need help.

The lines were never recorded I believe. I've only seen it in screenshot form, with the lines just rendered in text.

They are still up on this site.

They were recorded. The scene was fully rendered too I believe. They left it out for reasons.

I've always liked that conversation. Not sure if they removed it from the game for story reasons, or if they were afraid of backlash from talking about the afterlife. At least one element seems to resurface later on Cronos station, when Shepard wonders whether he's the "real" Shepard, or some recreation.

I don't know why they cut it out, but I know It was a big mistake. So much charecter development wasted. Just another example of Bioware not careing about Ashley. Damn shame.

I agree. Ashley develops quite a lot between ME1-3, even with a teasing cameo in ME2 and cut content in ME3. All that you have to do is simply talk with her, you do not even need to pursue a romance to see it happen. A romance makes it easier, but still. I still believe that she has one of the more "realistic" realtionships, it is not constantly 'everything is great, even with the Reapers destroying the galaxy'.
