Ashley Williams imo is the best Love Interest in this game. What makes her so unique from the others is that her romance with Shepard isn't forced. As a matter of fact they don't even talk about having feelings for each other until the very end. It's a love that slowly evolves.

They have actual conversations that real people would have. They talk about being in the military, politics, family, views on life, etc. And in the end when they finally kiss, there's more payoff to it because there was build up to that moment. You saw their relationship go from professional, to friends, to something more. Honestly Ash and Shep just have way more in common.

Not to mention she's got a great character. She has great qualities but also serious flaws to her as well. She isn't a Mary Sue like some other LIs are, and doesn't jump all over Shepard from the very beginning (you know specifically who i'm talking about). She isn't boring since she has these qualities and flaws to her. You get to see her character evolve over the course of these games. She really is one of the better characters.

Gotta come to facts here. Ash is one hell of a woman!

Hi everyone.

I am relatively new to the Mass Effect universe.

Ash is by far my fave character and Love Interest in the series.

YouTube ME2 videos made me buy ME1 and ME2. Having played both now I can't believe that I actually thought that ME2 was a good game judging by the YouTube videos.

ME1 was the superior game mostly because of Ashley. I missed her a lot in ME2 and when I met her again on Horizon ... it broke my heart. Even the paragon choices made it worse and after I got back to the ship all the dialogue suggested a break up but I stayed faithfull and was rewarded by a strange e-mail from her. Not sure if it was just a lovers quarrel on Horizon or if it is really over with her. I hope not. She is the most interesting LI in the entire franchise.

She is just such a wonderfull character that came alive. I know she isn't real but I couldn't help myself to fall for that character (in a healthy fashion). Image IPB

I heard from others that they prefer Liara but not me ... She betrayed me to Cerberus and then expected me to cheat on Ashley in Lair of the Shadow Broker. Never gonna happen. Image IPB

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

It is great to see that Ash is more popular than what the YouTube comments let me believe.

She has a great character arc and her attitude towards Garrus, Wrex and Tali changed when you Paragon romance her.

I wouldn't say Liara betrayed you to Cerberus, more it was a messed up situation and Cerberus was the only one to offer a way out (After all, if she didn't, you wouldn't have a ME2. :P) but this isn't the thread for that.

Ash is an awesome character, flaws and all, and every Shepard I've made is pretty close to her. Even if only as friends since they're all FemSheps.

youtube comment sections are filled with idoits.ash is very popular along with kaidan.its prob one of the reasons why she will have a much bigger role in ME3 than she had in ME2.

She could have gone to the Alliance.

Back on topic:

I mainly play my MShep. Modelled after me and all. Have started a FemShep too and was disappointed that I couldn't romace Ash with her. That's why I don't like to play her at the moment.

The moment Ash won my heart was when she began to recite Tennyson's Ulysees. Kim Brooks was amazing. Image IPB

There is a lot more to Ash than just a soldier. I looked forward to every conversation with her.

to be fair to liara and her fans cerberus came to her and told her that they were going to try and revive him.

i love the alliance to but had she given sheps body to the council they would have just buried him.

on topic:i agree Kim brooks IS ashley Madeline williams.

I'm glad that she will be back full time in ME3. It was hard to play through ME2.

But the hardes thing ever was Virmire. Never before in my gaming history did I have to make such a choice.

I wanted them both to survive yet whenever I replay ME1 I can never bring myself to sacrifice Ash.

i agree with everything above.

i found ME2 considerably less interesting due to the lack of ash, along with other things.

Rear Admiral Mikhailovich: "Commander the Alliance has a strict policy again fraternization! You and Williams are facing a serious charge."

Shepard: "We're Spectres Admiral. We do what we want."

Rear Admiral Mikhailovich: "Did you just conradict me Shepa-"

Shepard: "I don't have time to justify myself to you Admiral. I got a galaxy to save." *walks away*

Hopefully there won't be any moments where Ashley just says to you if you want to chat "Can it wait for a bit I'm in the middle of some....uh....*glances at Garrus*....calibrations." I mean I hope there is enough dialogue unlike the LI's in ME2 where the characters never said anything much, but Thane talked the most i've noticed.

But the thing I'm curious about is how do Shep and Ash meet in ME3? I mean the Earth mission has got to be the first mission right? Maybe they meet in the prologue... guess we'll have to find out in 9 months, and I'll be waiting.

posted this earlier in the thread.think it would be a really nice setup if ash comes to see shepard moments before the trial in the alliance brig.

as for limited dialogue bioware is giveing us a smaller squad for just that reason.so we can have more deep squadmate interaction.

ME2 had waaay to many squadmates.

That was a huge part of the success of ME1 for me.   I got to really know my squad and it seemed much more natural.  I think we'll get lots of good diologue with Ash and the rest of the crew this time around.

So kinda like, Shepard sitting in the brig, he looks up and see's Ash right there in front on his cell's bars. (if they have those in 2186) She walk him to the trial, they talk about what she's been up to for the last couple years, her being a spectre comes up breifly and they might talk about Horizon a little. She stops short of walking in the court room with him and wishes him luck, a kiss on the check maybe (well maybe a little more than just a little peck).

Some thing like that? Anyways yeah I think that would be cool to see.

*looks around*  Wow, this new thread sure is shiny!  I'm sad it took me so long to get over here.  (I've been on sab-bat-ical).  Question: What's the thread's policy on spoilers?  I'd like to be part of the discussion, but I'm working very hard to stay (relatively) spoiler-free.  If there's not one, can I suggest big red SPOILER tags?  Yes?  No?  Yes?  I think yes.

Someone suggested allowing spoilers here, but not allowing them in the AW thread at the ME2 site.

Not sure if that policy is in place.

thats not bad.

what was playing in my mind was a little less affectionate and little more heartache.i picture shepard sitting at the edge of his cell bed deep in thought about all thats happned.haveing to work for cerberus, vaporizing little batarians babies, loseing kaidan, jack, thane, grunt and samara (these are the ppl that didnt make it in my playthrough) in walks ash she greets him softly "hey there skipper" they have a sweet but awkward reuion.shep comments on how diffrent she looks ash asks him if he likes the new due shep replies "i like all of your dues" or something paragongly cheezy to make her crack a smile (a little throw back to ME1 and sheps cheezy romantic dialogue)

they fall silent and remeber the old times when they were so happy togther.shepard asks ash if she thinks he guilty and ash stays quite deep in thought and says "i know you, and i know everything youve done was what you thought you had to do". she flashs him a smile and for the first time since hes been locked up he feels confident in his choices and there outcomes.

the tender moment is broken when two big and gruff alliance marines cut in.

"Lt.willaims,commander shepard; its time".

ash nods to the marines and gives one last look at shepard "good luck in there shepard, give em hell".

thats what i was thinking Image IPB

Image IPB I like yours better. That scene kinda played in my head and wow.

Oh and it looks like we lost some of the same people. Thane, Grunt and Mordin died in my play through. (I don't count Zaheed he died in his loyalty mission)
