You know what I hate though about Mass Effect 3? The fact that we can't have Ashley and Kaidan back

I wish there was someway that BioWare could just go ahead and retcon what happened on Virmire...

That's the one thing they can't retcon., not that they've ACTUALLY retconned anything (the BSN loves to throw that word around), other than Tali's romance since she's all in love with Shepard since being on the Normandy. Ashley and Kaidan being back would be awesome. Team humanity rides again! But their sacrafice was for the best. For my Shepard's the first child of the approiate gender gets named after the dead VS. girls get named Ashley when she dies and boys get named Kaidan when he dies. A proper tribute if I do say so myself.

I'm not sure I'd call Tali's romance a retcon, per se, just a specific interpretation. Although I don't like the way the romance is executed.

I like the idea of Shepard/VS naming their first kid after the sacrificed one. As long as it's the first name. My family has very strict rules about middle names...

I love Miranda and Jacob... Alongside Shepard, they constitute a "new' team humanity.But I miss the banter of Shep, Kai and Ash.Like when they were taking in the view of the Citadel from the Wards.

I agree the new team humanity is awesome and similar. the female is popular, yet has soms strong hatred towards her and the guy isn't popular and is called boring/whiny despite ebing the most awesome dude next to maleshep in those PT's and the most awesome dude in femshep PT's. At least you didn't have to choose between Jacob and Miranda dying like with Ashley and Kaidan. I have a feeling Kaidan and Jacob would get along, and there'd be alevelof respect between Ashley and Miranda for the other's skill.

0-o that's not Miranda's demeanor at all, not after Lazarus station at least. by the time they would meet, in most games, miranda's no longer with Cerberus because Shepard destroyed the base.

I don't think Ashley would like Miranda either.... she wouldn't be as intense as that comment... or how jack acts toward her, but I don't think she'd get along very well.

Fair point, but she still carries herself very haughtily, to me. Especially with people who aren't Shepard. I think she and Ash would butt heads early on, considering how down to earth Ash is. But they'd develop a good deal of respect for each other, and maybe eventually become friends.

Edit: @ Sgt. Reed: I that'd be her first reaction, regardless of whether or not she says it out loud.

Also, retconning the Virmire choice would be the dumbest thing ever...

it's one of the only choices that really matter in the games and to throw it out would be saying... "yeah, your choices really don't matter, sorry!"

I actually like Virmire... yeah, it sucks that we have to choose a squadmate to leave behind, but it really adds to the emotional side of the game. We need more choices like this imo... maybe not in squadmates but say... save this colony or this colony during the invasion (one has top galactic minds residing there... the other has important production capabilities for war) ... that kind of thing.

There are alot of choices that matter, in essence all fo them matter, but if they all were resolve din ME2 there'd be no point in having ME3. I can see alot of stuff that didn't help or bite you in the ass in 2 comes to the surface in 3. An interesting thought, since Ashley is a spectrer, maybe she has decisions that either benefit or bite her in the ass based on how you treated her in ME1. like Paragon Ash gets a bonus or something, and renegaded Ashley has someonecome after her during all the Repaer stuff (her mission maybe?)

Maybe this will show my point a little better...

You can save the collector base or destroy it....
either way, Cerberus is your enemy = Choice doesn't matter

You can paragon or renegade Garrus....
either way, he ends up leaving the citadel to be a badass merc killer = Choice doesn't matter

You can save Ash or save Kaidan...
you either get Ash from then on, or Kaidan... not both = Choice mattered.

It had actual consequences to it.

Virmire is one of the better points of the series so far...

Well to be fair the "cerberus is against shepard" could be a front by Tim to get the Reapers off his ass after the whole "I took Shepard's body from you" thing, especially if the base is saved. He's risked Shepard before and it worked out fine, so if it ain't broke.

Garrus's thing, to me at least, is his fan bases fault. They begged for him to be a squaddie and romanceable so he was given a tsuedo badass mission and an awkward romance.

We still have an entire game for thingsto be explained and they've even said some of the ME1 stuff that didn't show up in 2 is going to be in 3, so that's what we've got to go on. Just like we've got Ashley being a Spectre in a sexy casualt outfit with their hair down, looking all confident and sexy and powerful and....[insert superlative] XD

I still think the reapers should somehow rebuild non-VS's body, and have harbinger control it / live in it.  All for the sake of messing with Shepard's head.  By desecrating the memory of Shepard's dead teamate (in my case Kaidan) it would be the biggest mind**** they could give Shepard (AND to Ash for that matter).  Epic boss battle too.

I'd rather have Sheploo and Ash too. Plus I can't create a good Shepard they all turn out weird. It's easier to just play default for me
