I'm confused as to why Anderson is on the Normandy WITH Shepard. The only logical thing I can come up with is that Shepard went to the Citadel to see Anderson / turn himself in / see what could be done about this bull crap and that's where the Alliance took control of the SR2? It's the only reason I can see that they would ever be on the Normandy together, bringing him back to Earth in irons. Seems strange since I always just figured Shepard would head to Earth like Hackett said. Then again, he trusts Anderson so maybe that's why he made the detour to wherever the SR2 picked up Anderson and some Alliance crew.

/random and not Ash related. Well I suppose it is. Do you think when ME3 starts "at the trial" which I think is where we're supposed to think it starts, that Ashley will have already been on the ship with Shepard? Because that would suck to not have a moment where they ACTUALLY see each other for the first time.

Then again, she's a SpecTRe now so she probably wasn't even working with Anderson when they boarded the Normandy and slapped irons on Shepard. Maybe the first time we see her on the ship is actually when we see her in the demo.

My goodness. I haven't had any coffee and I'm not feeling well so I'm totally rambling. Sorry guys.

Top Ash with coffee.  hehehe

Seeing each other and having the time to talk are two different things.I'm sure we'll get to play the first time they get to actually talk things out.

I had a similar reaction and I brought it up in the Vega support thread, where someone suggested it might just be a show for the batarians and I hope it is, because I'd rather have my Sheps go to Earth on their own free will.

I still think, the actual games starts at the trial and the flight to earth might be a way for players, who do not import a file to make their decisions in the way that they tell Vega, who guards Shepard and probably only knows vaguely what has happened so far, the details of how they saved the galaxy twice.
If that's the case, I hope Ashley isn't onboard, ... (see the bolded part of what I quoted)

I think/hope so, too.

Maybe Ashley might comeback from a mission, and see you there?

Wonder what her reaction would be..

I have a question maybe someone in here can answer for me, When and how did Ashley make it to lieutenant? Cause the only thing I remember hearing was her promotion in ME 2 so when did she go from non-com to officer? Was it announced in an article or interview that she's now an Lt?

^ Yeah, it was announced in an article in GI, if I remember right. In game, it was some time between Horizon and ME3. Probably came with her assignment as a Spectre.

Anderson calls her "Lieutenant" in the "Escape from Earth" Gameplay demo, they showed at E3. This is, afaik, the only original source.

But Miranda's not even there! Lol, or are you talking about when she comes back? That you're going to through the VS to the side? Tbh I think they should wrestle it out and the winner gets the title of XO. I'd be quite happy with that outcome.

Miranda leads all of my fire teams on the SM and no one dies. With shepard off with the tech and bubble person she leads a team of people who don't trust her and does't get any of them killed. That's whatI need from my XO and yes WHEN SHE DOES GET ON THE NORMADY it's XO Lawson is aboard.

Miranda is the more experienced XO and in that sense preferable in a situation like this, but it depends on the crew, if I feel they don't trust Miranda as much as Ash...Then I might put Ash in as XO, I want an XO everyone feels they can trust onboard on a more personal level aswell as one that's competent. It also depends on how Ash has changed, or if she has changed.

I never put Miranda and Jack together on the suicide team, because that would be a stupid move on Shepards behalve, unnecessarily putting the team at risk even if the outcome would always be positive, you don't know that beforehand.

Garrus is XO for me, no questions asked. Miranda is lying somewhere on the collector base....

Using that as an introduction is an interesting thought. I don't think Ash would have been aboard already and have met Shepard before trial, since it would be confusing for newcomers and probably veterans alike, if they act like they just met.

@Reed; Personally I can't picture Ash with tattoos, but if she had one it would probably have something to do with family, religion, boomsticks or poetry. (I might be stating the obvious here...Posted Image)

So nothing like this?:

(it's naughty!)
linky

or maybe an ankle tattoo or small lower back tattoo. Idk, imo... one or two tattoos is hot.

An ankle tattoo I can actually picture for some reason, but I think Ash would pick a symbol that would have a real meaning for her, not just like: That one...I like.  although perhaps she would...I'm not sure really, at all.  somehow it all confuses me, I don't know. (Do you have any coffee leftover, Badpie? Posted Image apparently I could use some too)

Hmm, perhaps a few words out of a poem though? I could see that. yeah, something subtle might work, it's just that I never thought of it before, also that seems like a good place to put one too(See reeds link).

I don't know about that ... first time I played was Mass Effect 2 on PC and I had no clue who the woman yelling at me was on Horizon. To be honest, made it about halfway through the game when I found out that there was a ME1 and what Bioware was doing. Stopped playing ME2 since I didn't get what was going on anyway and played ME1. A whole new world!

That is why I tell people to buy ME3 but also buy ME1 & 2 NOW. Play them so they are ready and really invested in the game. Talked up thsi game last night at a party ... found a geek girl and we talked all night. We are everywhere!

@Reed: Don't really see a tattoo on Ash but that could change in ME3! Posted Image

Hmm you're right , I can see Horizon being very confusing to someone who hasn't played ME1.
Although if Ash & Shep have already met in ME3 without anyone knowing (newcomers nor veterans) then everybody would be confused by the scene that you first meat Ash, but apparently really for the second time. So that would be even worse then the ME2 situation.

I don't see Ash as the tattoo type really, but I could see her getting something on her ankle or between her shoulder blades that has meaning for her. Something like a small tribute to the 212 or something. She would never ever get a tramp stamp. And whatever she would get would be pretty easily covered.

Of course playing all three games in the right order would be the optimal course of action, no question. But I am simply going by what they said, about making it an easy start for newcomers to the franchise and not doing it in comic form again. We had something similar to what I described in ME2 in a very basic form, with Miranda and Jacob asking a couple of simple question. I expect the conversation with Vega to be more extensive than that, really introducing you to the main events and characters.
They also said the game will play differently in some ways if you import or not, so if you import that flight back to earth might play differently. Let's say Ash/Kai are aboard already and you get to talk to them about Horizon instead, so that once the game starts, the remaining issues with that incident might be resolved already and we can focus on the war once the Reapers have attacked. Just a thought...

I can only see Ash with a tattoo of the Alliance logo or something about the 212 or maybe her Dad's name and rank to remind herself of how badly her family has been treated since Shanxi.

My canon Ash and Shep have tattooed armbands in lieu of wedding rings (yes, they do get married eventually).

reminds me of a soap opera couple who tattoo'd their weddings rings on their fingers. I can see ash doing that with Shepards. thought Kallen would be skeptical of that.
