Yeah, nothing tragic that happens in the ME universe(besides the stuff that was before the games) is by chance and long odds. it all boils down to Sheps decisions.Aurora313 wrote...

Nothing's going to happen to the VS that isn't based on choices. It's not a mandatory human squaddie who made it passed Virmire in ME1 dies" Hell Tali and garrus can die and they're two of the most popular characters. Hell the PROTAGONIST can die. It's no big deal.

She won't turn on Shepard. I get everyone's all "Horizon was bad!" but what you miss is that is was plot armor. Everyone that stepped foot on the Normandy SR-2 to stay was killable. Guess who didn't step on the Normandy SR-2 to stay? Liara and the VS. Guess what they aren't killable in ME2. They were preserved from the variables of "who's alive and who's not?" to that they are guarenteed for ME3 and their amazing Roles.xxSgt_Reed_24xx wrote...

You haven't played ME3 though.... they may well have scripted squad mate deaths.
Jenkins... Virmire ... those ring a bell?
Anyway, that's not what I'm worried about, I'm pretty positive that any squadmate that can die will have a way to save them... emphasis being on "squadmate" ... if Ash is made to turn against Shepard... then she's no longer a squadmate and may not be able to be saved.

I can see Ashley taking control of the Alliance forces during Mass Effect 3. Shepard takes control of the Spectres and C-sec, Garrus leads Turians along with that purple-armoured guy we see in the screenshots, Samara takes control of the Justicar Order and Asari, Mordin and Kirrahe in charge of Salarain and so on. Its gonna be F*CKING epic!

Otherwise it really is not important enough to cheapen the actual story with stupid 'brainwashing' plot twists. At least in my opinion.

Might wanna get use to it... it's Bioware's favorite "plot device" in the series. Why did this happen? Indoctrination.... why is so an so doing this? Indoctrination... How th- INDOCTRINATION!
Also, Cerberus in ME3... could very well be indoctrinated. I see them using it a lot in ME3.

Sometimes plot holes happen, this is a fact of life. And frankly I'd rather the largely unimportant and unnoticed plot thread about how the VS escaped Horizon be left unanswered and left in the dust and forgotten then I would it suddenly becoming a HUGE and MAJOR thing that rises up and reveals that the VS was indoctrinated, thus ruining the actual important part of the plot that I've waited almost six years to see the resolution of.
Seriously if after six years of emotional investment waiting to see how Ashley and Shepard's love story comes to a conclusion, Bioware decide to just end it with a 'she's indoctrinated/a traitor, guess you have to kill her now. Should have gone with Liara' plot twist on me I will snap the disk in half, and dedicate the rest of my life to bloodily murdering the Bioware team and everyone who ever helped put that stupid idea in their heads.
My take? Ashley woke up and got free from the freezing process and the reason the Collectors did not descend upon her was because Shepard, the one that they were doing all of this for, was now on Horizon. So with the actual target that they were trying to kill, remember Ashley was essentially just bait, in sight and shooting and killing them at a fast rate they probably decided to just cut out the middle man.
Otherwise it really is not important enough to cheapen the actual story with stupid 'brainwashing' plot twists. At least in my opinion.
But if it must happen, if Bioware must revert to a B movie stupid M Night Shyamalan-if-he-was-stoned style plot twist at least make the VS death be optional, don't make that forced. Give me the option to save Ashley's life and free her from the combination of Reaper technology and bad writing that made her this way, don't punish the VS fans further by making the long road that I've walked for (again) six years end with me having to kill Ashley (or Ashley dying) with no other options to prevent it.
That's just f*cking cruel.

I got an Ash fic if anyone's interested. It takes place after Shepard has been arrested. Please keep in mind that this is the first story I've written so it's probably not very good.
