CptData, well can't say for sure, I just realized a month ago that such regulations really exist in some armies)) But, nobody says that they don't violate protocol - indeed they do, though Shepard is still a Spectre, i think that his status override his Alliance duties.

Being a Spectre just means he can do whatever is needed to accomplish a mission - it's not covering love interests.

Most - if not all - armies have regulations regarding relationships between members of the army. Some may be less strict than others, but in most cases it's forbidden.  Okay, the Alliance could be different - after all, the game is set in a distant future (170 years from now on). Maybe they allow such relationships, as long as they don't interfere with the protocol.

Whatever - I'm sure we'll see an explanation in ME3 in case of a LI with Ashley. Either BW deals with that issue - or it just doesn't matter for Shepard. Or it comes with some extras to be a living legend - normal rules don't apply  And in case of Shepard and Ashley, BOTH are living legends.

----

Second Picture: Shepard is still wearing the uniform he used in the ME3-Demo (Earth). So either this shot is from the beginning of the mission, or shortly after. In both cases Ashley will be member of the crew from the very beginning - must say, I like that idea.

For the picture, It's like CptData said for a little more detail: it has been discussed and it's either a gun (Meaning that this is probably just after the earth demo we've already seen.) or it's (like I originally thought) a chair in which case it could be anywhere, but I'm guessing still at earth, perhaps in a shuttle.

Btw, I believe Shepard can wear that outfit throughout the game.

The best I could find : "See, we have rules about "fraternization". You don't do The Deed with your fellow troops, especially if they're under you in rank"

That is from an email from Ash about a certain James, to her sister Sarah. I believe she states something along the same lines in ME, So yeah it's not allowed, but with Shepard being a Spectre and all that's happening, I'm sure they'll the Alliance will forgive them for a little intimacy...Image IPB

Again 'bout that picture ...

It looks like a chair, but ... that doesn't matter.

The uniform gives more away however. I believe I saw this uniform only in the earth demo but not in the mordin demo. So either this uniform is just like Shepards "freetime dress" - or it's a standard issue uniform for troops stationed on Earth.

We don't know when exactly we'll face any Earth missions except there will be one mission with Anderson right after the trial. Guess the Earth demo is more or less the prologue of ME3 (like the Eden Prime mission in ME). So I believe we'll see Ashley soon enough. EIther because she's on a mission as a spectre, or she has something to do with Shepards trial. At least it seems as if she's going to be part of the crew from the very beginning and might be a permanent squadmember.

I hope so. Also I hope she (or Kaidan) won't be the traitor. Some kind of plot twist might happen and there is a high chance Shepard will have to face another spectre in combat ...

I think that picture is from the point where Shepard boards the Normandy via the loading ramp and says farewell to Anderson.

They never said where the picture is from, but they showed that when they announced the game during a slideshow.

Seems so. Lets hope Ash will appear early in game and won't leave Shepard alone for too long. At least she should be back before the game ends and - of course - for a happy end.

*sigh*
Finally, my comp is too old. Tried to start a new ME-character, but the game is prone to crashes. Of course, it's the feared nv4_disp.dll crash ... had it before, but now I simply can't fix it anymore.

So I need a new comp for ME -> ME3.

Well, I'd say the rescue scene is very early in the game already, so if that is when they meet I'm happy. My guess is she'll be aboard the Normandy througout a large part of the game and leave somewhat near the end

Hehe yeah. More Ashley-goodness.

The last ME-char I made was destined NOT to romance Ashley so he could have a romance in ME2 (without cheating).
Guess what?

I couldn't. Somehow I always try to be nice to Ashley. And that always leads to a romance. Seems EVERY Shepard I make has a thing for Ashley. Of course she can't get virmired ... still had no ME2 romance yet. And since my comp isn't working stable anymore, I won't get any till next comp.

(Ashley-addicted? Yes. Would I leave my fiancee for a R/L-Ashley? Nope ...)

@CptData; I currently have one playthrough with Kaidan in the making, since I've come to appreciate him to much too not see his story through aswell, it's a slow playthrough though...

So your comp being unstable prevented you from cheating on Ash? Even it doesn't want you to cheat on her :P

Hmmm ... when I was reading a Shepley-Fanfic, I started to ask me how Ash and Shepard can be together without violating the alliance protocol. After all, it's a relationship between a superior officer and one of his warrant officers (believe that's okay for a gunnery / operations chief).

Either it's allowed to have such a relationship, or Shepard is an exception because of his Spectre status - or it is not allowed, and neither Ash nor Shepard are caring. So what's true?

This is something I'm dying to know. At the end of ME1 they continue their relationship...So what? They ignore the rules? Don't care? Maybe Shepard wouldn't care because he's a spectre and saved the damn Citadel so he can get out of pretty much anything...Ash on the other hand...

Ugh..I dunno, It confuses me so!

Well, it didn't stop Shep in ME, so I don't think it would stop him in ME3. If anyone is going to have pause about being in a relationship, I have a feeling it would be Ashley, especially since she's just been upgraded to Spectre (possibly, not known for certain) and lieutenant.

It didn't stop Shepard but it clearly made Ash hesitant sometimes haha but once she realized that their upcoming mission could be their last (ILOS) she quickly caved. Image IPB

EDIT: Ok that's not right... because at the locker scene Ash came to offer Shepard some support and looked ready to start something right there
