A dialogue before I go to sleep.
Shepard: Ok - We have prisoners, distress calls and a whole slew of other problems.
Garrus: What's first on the list?
EDI: The Alliance has attempted to overwrite key subroutines within the navigation, firing array and cyberwarfare suits.
Shepard: Meaning?
Joker: Meaning - I can't stir and EDI can't fight.
Shepard: Garrus, you're working on the main Battery - you know the Thanix Cannon better than anyone. Joker - you and EDI try and work out the navigational errors. If worse comes to worse, I'll have Rox completely reboot the system. Manually if need be.
Joker: Roger that.
Ashley: Two more distress calls from Palavan and Thessia. They are getting their asses handed to them.
Shepard: Without eyes and teeth, The Normandy is nothing more than a ship-sized paperweight. No offence EDI.
EDI: None taken.
Vega: What about the prisoners?
Shepard: Ash'll take care of the interrogation and you'll assist her.
Ashley: 'Assist' meaning?
Shepard: if they get rowdy, Vega gets scary.
Vega: *silent, Ash gives him a look*
Ash: Fine. Vega - meet me at the brig in five minutes.
Vega: Yes ma'am.
Shepard: Crew dismissed. *all leave except Vega.*
Vega: Are you certain that the Lieutenant needs my help?
Shepard: You're one of the more intimidating people on this crew, it tends to help when asking questions.
Vega: Sir - Lieutenant Williams is far more intimidating than I am. She scares the sh!t out of me!
Shepard: Not gonna lie to you, James. You're not alone.
Vega: That's because you're completely whipped... *Shepard glares sharply at him* Sir!
Shepard: Been your boss for five minutes and already you're making fun of your commanding officer? Not an overly brilliant career move, Lieutenant Vega.
Vega: With all due respect sir - neither was destroying a Mass Relay. Noble as your intentions were.
Shepard: You're something of an *sshole, you know that, don't you?
Vega: I could say the same about you sir.
*short glaring contest.*
Shepard: We're gonna get along great.
Vega: I'm getting that, yea. *Vega walks out*
Shepard: ******.

Miranda: Please, pick me, I've got the hugest ...
Ashley: That's not a suicide mission.

Haha, that's an accurate description of Shepard, Urus!
As for a motivational, I still have this one lying around...(Not really solely Ash related though)

Just came back from Miranda-forum.

Wow. Some of her fans are ... funny
Those fans seem to see more the sex than the character in Miranda.
Whatever ... *marks thread as here be dragons* Posted Image
Na seriously ... had a hard time defending Miranda against some guys. It just makes me sad how some guys see her, but ... *sigh* it's just a fictional character.

(Edited to make things easier and less offending)

Anyhow, back to Ash ...

Any idea if Ash had any boyfriends and/or sexual encounters before Shepard?
(Have some thoughts about this, but wanna hear yours first)

I find it delightfully ironic how you reductively assert that the thread in question "only see the sex", and then carry on by asking if people think Ash got it on with someone before meeting Shepard.

Seriously. Bravo.

Actually, I'd like to know what the guys are thinking here. And if I'm right, Ashley is far less "oversexed" as Miranda ;)

Just for the record.

Ahh..it can get pretty hot on this thread too! Lol. But well, Miranda is more of a sexualized character then Ashley, who is rather more normal (By that I mean she keeps to the more conventional stuff) about it. So different characters might attract different people, but I'm not the one to say anything about the Miranda thread, since I don't really know the people on there.
As fo Ash and boyfriends, I'm sure she's had a few, not a crazy amount or anything. Sexual partners..I wouldn't know, we don't really know the conventions in the ME Universe. Atleast I wouldn't see her as ****ty in her youth either.
I also made another motivational:

Actually some of Miranda's fans are totally against that. But I agree with some of them being scary especially....*Cough* MEfan. Posted Image

LOL! Of course Ashley's had sex before Shepard, she's 26 in ME1 (I think.) Jesus... It would be extremely weird and wrong if she called herself a hellcat in bed but...yet hasn't any sexual experience lmao

Haha that one fits ;)

Ashley MIGHT have had a boyfriend or two in her youth. She also seems to be experienced - at least she's not acting shy when "checkng weapons" with Shepard. Still - there is a timespan between her youth, her early militar career and meeting Shepard. Can't believe she had much time for a boyfriend in that time - and if she had one, there must be a reason why they broke up.

Also the timespan between her last BF and Shepard seems to be at least, lemme say, a year or so. She never mentions anything about her ex-BF (and speaking of experience, girls DO talk a lot of their ex), so either there is nothing to talk anymore or it just doesn't matter.

Maybe I'll write a dialogue about that problem a bit later. This time, it's going to be "in character".

? So could we keep this kind of discussion/hating out of the thread please? Because I fail to see how this has anything to do with the Ashley thread. Posted Image

Tbh, I can't see Ashley ever having a serious relationship. I mean how serious could it be if she left to join the Alliance at 18 and only gets a week of leave a year? Doesn't leave much room for a 'boyfriend' but that doesn't mean she hasn't had one in the past. I mean come on! We've all had high-school sweethearts and flings.Of course, this is probably something we'll never know for sure, and tbh I'd rather not know about her youthful sex life. Posted Image

Besides...When she calls herself a 'hellcat of the battlefield' she's totally yanking Shepard's chain. She's just teasing the life out of the man.

Great! I am gone for a few days and I come back to my fave pet peeve. Oversimplifications of characters and their fans. It's a good thing, my vacation has left me rather relaxed or I would unleash a sh*tstorm, Prospero-style.

Anyway, rather exhausted at the moment, just had to check in briefly.

Depends on what you see as a "serious relationship".

A lot of ppl have relationships at the age of 16 or 17 running a year or so. That's what I call "serious enough". If it comes down to "planning a family and such", yeah, you're right, then those relationships aren't really serious.
In that case Shepley isn't a "serious relationship" as well. Actually, it lasted for only a month after admitting love (= either locker-scene or sex-scene), they still were in lovey-dovey-state when Shepard got KIA.

Did Ashley had any one night stands?
Propably. She's quite tomboyish to guys she doesn't like or know, so she could have some one-nighters with either friends or guys she instantly liked. That should reduce chances to have one night stands quite frequently.
At least she had some for her "experience".

I seriously doubt a 17 year old Ash was thinking about planning a family - I seriously doubt Ashley at any age was thinking about starting a family.(IMO.) It doesn't seem very 'her' I think Ashley always knew she would join the Alliance, even from a young age. But that doesn't mean she wouldn't like a family with the right person when she's older or when her career has died down, because I think she would...Eventually.

And yes you're right. The Shepley relationship wasn't serious either, technically it isn't even allowed, but they broke that rule lol.

I can't see Ashley just giving random guys 'it' either. She makes men work for it. Even Shepard.
As I said before...The 'hellcat' comment is just Ashley totally yanking Shepard's chain.

In case of Ashley you're right ;) Doubt she had anything "serious" in mind or she knew it won't have a chance.

The Shepley isn't a serious relationship - yet. It might become a full fledged relationship in ME3, if BW is working it out properly. It can work, but hasn't to be forced on the player. After all, there are players who switched from Ashley / Kaidan / Liara to another LI in ME2 and will get another LI for ME3 - who knows? And others want to go through with ONE relationship.

I hope BW is giving those staying faithful to their primary LI some extra stuff you normally won't see - a special assignment, more dialogue, more romantic scenes (or sexy scenes if you like) ...
Also I'd like to see if that Alliance protocol regarding fraternization kicks in or is ignored because Ashley and Shepard are Spectres ...

please refrain from talking about other threads and their regulars. That's one sure fire way to starting a flame war that gets thread's closed. this thread is about Ashley, the only reason other characters should be mentioned is in relation to her, that's it.

/thread policing.

I remember a quote in the elevator when, I think it's Wrex, says that Ashley's impressive because Krogan women don't fight and then she says that Women had to prove they could handle a rifle before The Alliance let them fight. This makes me think that Ashley has an extra chip on her shoulder to prove that eventhough she's a woman, she's not the be trifled with in combat by anymeans, and in maleshep games, she's the first human female Spectre. Does anyone think that she sort of relishes that?

I have to disagree about the Shepley relationship. it was definitely a big commitment for Ashley. They love(d) eachother, they were even serious enough to cross the fraternization rules. After two Ashley still is sad when she says "I loved you", it clearly meant a lot to her and so did it to my Shepard...He was heartbroken after Horizon.

They expressed their love before Ilos, because they feared this might have been the lat time they could, or so I think. Just because they didn't have the babies or family talk doesn't mean they didn't have a serious relationship, I'm unwilling to except it was a fling, just some fun, in that case they would have been more responsible, atleast Ashley, she wouldn't have crossed the fraternization line this heavily if she didn't really genuinely love him.

I suppose the catch here is 'relationship', if you mean that that hasn't quite formed yet into something long lasting. But however you want to call it I think it was serious.

Imo, it started out as two friends doing a bit of harmless flirting, soon realising they've got alot in common, and soon growing to care for each other. I thought by the time of Ilos it was on it's way to being serious, Ashley telling Shepard she loved him on Horizon kind of confirmed it wasn't a meaningless night they spent together, loving someone is a big deal. And Shepard having a picture in his cabin pretty much means Shepard loves her, the scene before the suicide misson kind of says that Ash is the thing worth fighting for, she's his motivation. But with that in mind I doubt she was thinking about having kids, atleast not yet, ''The Williams family are a decisive bunce, we do things when we're ready'' She's a family person, she will want kids one day, but at the moment her career is too important to her, she will wait until she feels she's ready.

I think there's nothing wrong with the relationship taking place, with Shepard being a Spectre I think the rules dont apply, and now Ash is a Spectre too, so anything goes.

Haha, ninja'd, while waiting for the video to upload...

IMO, it was serious, but in the early stages, but I really need some sleep right now, maybe I have more coherent thoughts on this in the near future...

edit: I think, you might have been talking about a different scene, so scratch the "ninja'd!"
Still one of my favourite scenes... but I can't quite remember, where I was going with this; sleep first, talk later...

@Elek; Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Great weather is always good (Especially, now autumn-y weather is closing in fast around here..i'd like some of that)
Anyway, on topic again, is it going to be a reply via mail or something of a convo? (I'm guessing the first.) Either way that's always an interesting topic to see some thoughts on.

@AD; That's interesting. I'm not sure about feminism in the ME universe and how far total acceptance of women and men as equals is. But I would see Ash as who could relish in that somewhat.
