Someone at Bioware has tweeted something along the lines of deeper friendship, so I have good hope for that.

As for rebooting, I'm not a fan of reboots unless the game could have been a lot better the first time round, but still has potential. I like Mass Effect the way it is, if they just slap some new graphics on it and a few extras then I'd would be a waste of their time in my opinion.

And revisions can be very risky, it could be better, but it could also easily be worse. Like saving both Kaidan and Ashley, if you can do that, the game would miss an emotional high. That could work against the game, as much as it could improve it.

It's not just improving graphics. It's more like - giving everything a proper upgrad. I could type down a wishlist, but that wouldn't fit here.

Some important points are:

- Improving gameplay so it fits to ME2 / ME3
- Removing the old ME RPGish loot system -> upgrade system of ME2 / ME3
- heat clips yes/no? I go for "no".
- character improvements. Most likely more dialogue and a "daily routine"
- more romantic interactions
- additional sidequests regarding about past of a particular squadmember
- more interesting planets & randomly generated missions

Overall, a reboot of ME means to me that it still should feel like ME. Characters should be the same but with far more background and dialogues. The base storyline shouldn't be touched if not necessary, so a reboot!ME is still revolving around Saren and the return of the Reapers.

That is, of course, just my oppinion.

It IS a DA-picture, but seems google doesn't find it's proper location ... so no link here

Well thanks for clarifying, because if that would be the case, I'd be interested. I wish we'd see reboots like that.

Ashley: Ok - now I'm pissed.
Shepard: Do I have time to duck and cover while objects fly, or should I just pretend not to exist?
Ashley: I'm not angry at you.
Shepard: Oh. Well. Now I feel better.
Ashley: Yea, while you feel better, I'm still pissed.
Shepard: What about?
Ashley: This. *shows extranet page*
Shepard: A fan-site.
Ashley: Yes.
Shepard: I'm not following why you're pissed.
Ashley: It's been inactive.
Shepard: Oh no...
Ashley: Yes - for three hours.
Shepard: Oh no-no-no.
Ashley: Oh yes-yes-yes.
Shepard: Ok, now I'm pissed too. *actives omnitool and types a few things in.*
Ashley: *clicks refresh just to be save, sees new post by 'MalTehSpecTRe' saying 'I <3 U, Ash.
* Ah... that's so sweet.
Shepard: Feel better now? ;)
Ashley: Yes. <3:kissing: ... wait? You subscribed to my fan-site?
Shepard: ... maybe.:?
Ashley: Since when were you a member ...?
Shepard: Maybe... since a little after Horizon?
Ashley: ... John... were you cyber stalking me... ?
Shepard: ... No...  *Ash gives him a look* What?! I wasn't stalking!
Ashley: Shepard...!

a reboot would be interesting, i agree aswell, however if bioware decided to reboot the franchise they should wait a good few years and then re-kindle our interest in the trilogy with a new rebooted me1.
Maybe including as others have said before more dialogue and a real time setting aboard the normandy atleast where crew members move around talk and generally seem more alive lol

I would adore Bioware all the more if they had put more content in ME2 that didn't relate to loyalty or fetch quests, or at least a better variety of side-quest locations in a rebooted ME1. I've played all the DLCs minus Overlord (I have it somewhere, but I can't find it.), and good as they were, I want more content. Or maybe its just that I've played it so much that I know where everything is and its just become something I can complete in 20 hours straight of gameplay. I want - but know I will never get - a DLC with ASHLEY in it!

That's where I was before my 360 died. I'm actually excited about playing ME1 and 2 when I get my replacement box.

One thing that I definitely look forward to with Ashley is purging any Cerberus influence from the Alliance. That should be fun, especially if it turns out that Cerberus was secretly part of the Alliance all along... loyalty-shakage ahoy.

General Williams let Jack Harper (now The Illusive Man) have free reign over his own activities. Therefore - being endorsed by an Alliance Admiral. It is technically an Alliance organisation.

I believe you will find mention of such in the Comics - Evolution I believe it is.

If Shepard was a traitor for working with Cerberus, what does that make her grandfather?

The traitor who helped found Cerberus. Also much more xenophobic than she is.

Dude, she's been in a lot of video games....

Mass Effect
Dragon Age:Origins
Infamous
Batman AA
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
Lost Planet
Endwar
Stormrise
Dead to rights
Avatar
MGS4
Jericho
Spiderman 3
Dead Rising
The matrix
KOTOR

and a few other games I've never heard of. lol

She was in KOTOR too? I really need to seek out a copy of that sometime.

She was also Shinobu in the No More Heroes series. A primary character, I believe...might be something to look into if--no, when you're missing Ashley fiercely. Immature as it is, I couldn't help giggle when hearing her voice use strong cuss words.

Also imagine if the ME series had you use showers at save points like in No More Heroes! The characters would share their inner most thtoughts!

Ash: *soaking* What does "Azure" mean anyway? ...Wait...I don't want to know, do I?

...I'm not sure what this "reboot" talk is, seems like the cool thing to do...the idea of starting over fresh, knowing your mistakes is appealing but...ME's flaws are not so significant that such a thing would be necessary.

Normally I don't like reboots. I really hate all those "Batman reboots" - seriously, do they lack any new ideas?

Right now only ME needs a remake since ME2 and ME3 look the same and have a similar gameplay. I don't think it's possible to remake ME and use its savegames for old ME2 / ME3 without problems. Therefore BW needs to reboot the entire series - and it's NOT useful to do this in 2 or 3 years - a remake of ME isn't enough. No, BW needs to take at least 5 years before planning to reboot ME.
Actually, here I wish I could be part of the storywriting team. Taking the well known story and its sideelements, improve anything that doesn't feel complete - that's what I'd lke to do.

The main storyline shouldn't be touched and the characters shouldn't be warped / twisted / entirely changed. An Ashley from reboot!ME is basically the same like Ash from ME. Same for Kaidan, Garrus, Tali, Pressly etc. They just need additional dialogue, more background, possible some special assignments - you name it. I want a game where you fully dive in the gameplay, caring for each single character. Killing someone on Virmire to save the other one should be a really difficult decision, not just about "LI" vs "non-LI" or so.

Whatever. I don't think BW will do a series reboot. If they're going to make a second trilogy, it won't deal with Shepard or any of his/her crewmembers.

Ashley demands more postings!
(She's currently lurking the thread.)

Ashley: It's not about what you could be. I'm in love with the man you are, Skipper. Always. You're not perfect, neither am I. Together we are perfect, that's what counts.
Wrex: Yeah, that sounds good. When do you want to tell him?
Ashley: As soon as he's coming back from his mission.
Wrex: Good girl.
...
Shepard: Ash, Wrex.
Wrex: Shepard.
Ashley: It's not about ... errm ... sorry, Skip, have to leave. Someone has to check those weapons and since Jacob isn't around ...
Wrex: Williams ... never break a promise.
Ashley: God knows, I hate you, Wrex.
Shepard: What's up with you two?
Ashley: Nothing!
Wrex: Shall I tell him?
Ashley: NO!
Shepard: Tell what? Did something happen?
Ashley: No, everything is fine.
Wrex: Either you tell him, or I will, Williams.
Ashley: Do it and I'll pull the trigger.
Shepard: Ooookay, just for the protocol: WHAT is wrong with you?!
Ashley: God ... Skip, I'm going to hate you both for telling this ...
Shepard: Go on.
Ashley: Skip ... I'm proud being part of your crew again. I'm sorry for ignoring you and your feelings for months now ... I feared I didn't deserve you. It's not about what you could be - I don't care that you're about becoming a living legend. I'm in love with the man you are, John. I'm in love with you, not with the rank and not with your reputation ... All I want is to be with you.
Wrex: Good girl.
Ashley: Once this is over I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Skipper. Oh captain, my captain ...
Shepard: ... wow. Ash, I'm baffled ... surprised ...
Ashley: You didn't see it coming? Don't you feel the same?
Shepard: No. And I wasn't expecting you would freely talk about your feelings without using a poem ... and yes. I feel the same, Ashley.
Wrex: Great. Now do that lip-thing and move on! You humans make me sick.
Ashley: Sorry, Wrex.
Wrex: Williams.
Shepard: Wrex.
Wrex: Shepard.

*Random Dialogue*

Hackett: You are a symbol for mankind, a hope, maybe the last. The galaxy is burning, and if there's anyone who can save us all, then it's you, Ashley Williams.
Ashley: Sir - I'll need an army ... or a really good team.
Hackett: Indeed. I'm sure you have someone in your mind?
Ashley: That's the problem, Admiral. Some of them are working for the wrong team.
Hackett: Oh I'm sure we can solve that problem. I'd like to introduce you to someone you already know.
Ashley: Who is it?
Shepard: The one you marked as a Traitor. The one who was working for the bad guys. The one who solved the puzzle of the Collectors, who kicked their ancient *sses ...
Ashley: You?
Shepard: Admiral Hackett, Sir. Williams.
Ashley: That's "Lieutenant Williams" to you. Or "Spectre Williams" if you like. What are you doing here?
Shepard: If you like? I'm here because Earth is calling. You need a team? I've got the best of the best.
Ashley: What's the deal, Shepard?
Shepard: I'm a traitor and war criminal, until the trial comes to a different conclusion. You can have my team and do the job. Or you can help me, bail me out, become part of the team. Your choice.
Hackett: This is impossible. You have to face the trial.
Shepard: I know. And I need someone pleading for me - that'll be your part, Ashley.
Ashley: I can't, John, and you know that. They'll find out what happened before you died. And they're going to use it against you.
Hackett: Would you mind to explain?
Ashley: Sir?
Hackett: Why do you believe something from your past will interfere the trial?
Ashley: That's complicated, Sir ...
Shepard: We had a relationship, Admiral.
Hackett: You both should have known better, ...
Shepard: Sir, I didn't came back to get lectured.
Hackett: Don't talk to me like that, lad!
Shepard: It felt right, Sir. And we both knew what we did - and if it costs my career as officer of the Alliance, I'll happily accept it. As if this could change anything - my career IS over ...
Hackett: That's something I can't decide, Shepard. Things just got complicated.
Ashley: Sir, we'll find a way.
Hackett: Sure. You'll pull that "Spectre-Card" and everything is fine.
Shepard: No, Admiral. I'll face the trial. And Ashley still can help me.
Hackett: How that?
Ashley: John, do you have a plan?
Shepard: Sure ...

[maybe to be continued]
