So I was bored last night and added a new fanfic story to my ff profile. It basically features Ashley in the events following Virmire.

Only slightly over 1,000 words  but feel free to have a look anyway:

Like. Well written and you got the essence of both characters - Wrex and Ashley.

The REAL reason why Ashley shot Wrex (if not paragonized / renegadized Wrex)

Wrex: That's not my "Pokerface".
Garrus: It is. I can't read it.
Ashley: Neither can I.
Tali: Kinda unfair to have a facial expression no one can read.
Shepard: Says the one with fulltime mask duty.
Tali: Very funny, Shepard.
Wrex: Just show your cards, I'll show your mine.
Ashley: There goes the jackpot.
Shepard: That's all, Ash? Just one pair?
Ashley: I told you I'm a crappy player.
Wrex: Shepard, show yours.
Shepard: Here we go. Gotta Flush! Who's your daddy now?!
Tali: Rats, that's it.
Wrex: Full House.
Shepard: Aww man ...
Wrex: That makes ... 47.584.039 Credits, Shepard.
Shepard: Meh. Bank busted. I'm out. For the next 20 years.
Ashley: Me too. Wrex.
Wrex: Williams.
Shepard: Wrex. Next mission is Virmire ... need you with me.
Wrex: Sounds good.
Shepard: *whispers to Ash - when I give the sign, shot him. Want my money back!*

Pierce: Ash, please. If anything happens, as the Second in Commander of the Normandy and a Staff Commander - I will take responsibility of any injury I receive.
Ashley: But then as your friend, I'd feel bad.
Pierce: Please, Ash? I'll owe you one.
Ashley: Fine, I will. But if you get hurt -
Pierce: I have the lowest injury rate of all the whole team! Even that acclaimed 'Perfect' woman. Hell. Joker breaks a bone just pressing the mute!
Ashley: Alright, Alright. Gimme your rifle.
Pierce: Thank you. You're absolutely brilliant.
Ashley: God - you're just like Lynn.
Pierce: I'm going to take that as a compliment.
Ashley: Please don't.
Pierce: You don't get along with your sisters?
Ashley: Oh god, yea. We're tight, I helped raise 'em. I could have sworn that I told you this? Or am I thinking of John.
Pierce: John.
Ashley: What about you?
Pierce: Older brother. He's dead now.
Ashley: Oh. Oh! God, Mindoir. I shouldn't have asked.
Pierce: Nah nah! Its fine. I've dealt with it. If you noticed, I've even stopped smoking.
Ashley: I thought you stopped because Tobacco had a strong smell to it. And being all stealth-like, it'd be a stupid think, tactically speaking.
Pierce: Usually people are dead before they notice.
Ashley: Usually.
Pierce: That snark I hear Williams?
Ashley: What if it is, Commander?
Pierce: I would said good! I was worried that being a SpecTRe killed your sense of humour.
Ashley: Roxie!
Pierce: Ashley!
Shepard: Are my two favourite female soliders fighting? If so - I want to front roll seats.
Ashley: John!
Pierce: Oh joy, John the ****** leaves and the Jackass returns.
Shepard: Sigh, Abuses. Why do I deal with you women?
Ashley: Because you love me enough to defy all odds and even came back from the dead, as for Roxanna? I'm not entirely sure.
Pierce: Because I'm the best damn hacker and sniper in the 'verse. Also, someone has to watch John's ass, and I think its a big enough job for the both of us.
Shepard: Bickering Girls! Hello. I am in the room. Thank you. And also, Roxie - the way I hear it, you might be watching someone else's ass lately.
Pierce: Just what in hell does that mean?
Ashley:  Way I hear it, a certain Lieutenant is after your attention.
Pierce: Gezzus, you two? What are we, highschool students?
Shepard: I hated high school.
Ashley: Same here.
Pierce: Ditto.
Shepard: Anyway - apparently Kelly is looking for you.
Pierce: What? The shrink? What in the seven hells did I do?
Shepard: Roxanna... She is a friendly woman.
Ashley: Little too friendly for my tastes.
Shepard: Back to point. She's a friendly woman. She just wants to talk.
Pierce: Fine - but if she asks me about Mindoir or Akuze, I'll kick her ass.
Shepard: Please don't.
Ashley: I smell set up.
Shepard: Yep.
Ashley: Gonna stop it?
Shepard: Gonna sell tickets.
Ashley: You evil, evil man.... can I have 50%
Shepard: 10.
Ashley: 25.
Shepard: Deal.

Somehow you should edit that text. Difficult to read at the beginning ;)
(scratch that)

Besides that - I like. BW should add a "commander Pierce" to ME3. If not as a permanent member of the Normandy crew, she should appear at some point ... I like that character.

Wow - I was not expecting to have a response that quickly. I have to make up a sequel now.

Pierce isn't exactly the most fleshed out character. I have her family, her background, skills and personality, but I'm still editing and tweaking.

But if Bioware approached me, asking to use Pierce I'd help them right her, hell I'd even provide a voice - or someone who can be a suitible VA - for her if need be.

EDIT: Then again, the main reason for inconsisency in Pierce' personality in the seperate Dialogues is because it's different stages of her life and different stages of dealing with her past. Also because they're all jokes, spoofs and parodies.

just quickly before I go to sleep.

Ashley: John, what are you doing?

Shepard: Sending a quick extranet message *uses omnitool to take photos of half-destroyed vancouver*
Ashley: What? To whom?
Shepard: Council.
Ashley: Why, what are you typing?
Shepard: *lets her read: SRY U R 2 DUMB 2 LIVE. REAPERZ R HERE. GUNNA SAVE LIVES. NOT URS. LOLZ. KTHXBYE.
Ashley: Very elegant.

Shepard: I thought so.

So who's the woman in the far right of the cover? Could be Ashley but I don't see why they'd cover up her face. Seems more likely it's that unannounced female squad mate.

@Complistic I was thinking, perhaps the vigilante? or an enemy assassin perhaps. the outfit: It doesn't look much like a female version of Kaidans armour to be honest, so I'm guessing it's not Ash

@Aurora loved that Pierce/Ash/Shepard convo :).

Joker: Again?
Shepard: Again. We need to save the Destiny Ascension.
Joker: And the Council?
Shepard: Same deal. Again.
Joker: You really want to save those guys AGAIN? I mean, we did everything right when hunting down Saren and those guys didn't trust you. You died, came back, saved the galaxy another time - and they were still not trusting you. Okay, maybe that's because Cerberus, but when looking at the big picture ... ?
Shepard: Again. We'll save them again. Who knows, maybe this time they'll see I'm right. Okay, it's obvious I'm right. Ask the people of Vancouver, Seattle, London, Paris, Hamburg, Washington, Dresden, Dubai ...
Joker: Sure, I got the picture, and the crew trusts you. But why should we waste dozens of cruisers just to save the Destiny Ascension? It's already a wreck with more holes than swiss cheese. They're alive, but just barely.
Shepard: Do it. Just ... do it. Okay? I have a plan ...

*some weeks later*

Shepard: So much for "ah yes, Reapers."
Turian Council member: And you saved us just to shove it into our nose, right?
Shepard: Indeed, that was my main reason. I mean, we could have done so much more to stop them, but no - even if evidence was right in front of you, you denided it!We can't unite all races against the Reapers without the Council. That's why I came, that's why I saved you.

So who wants Ash as a playable multiplayer character, now that ''a multiplayer option'' is confirmed? It could be pretty cool if we could play coop and you could play as her, for instance.

I'd pick her for at least one playthrough. However, I'm used to play as an Infiltrator - never used the soldier class, so it won't be the same. In this case I'd pick Garrus over Ashley.

I wonder what we can do in ME3!MP. Either we can do the entire story - or we'll see just a couple of additional missions loosely connected to the main story arc with separate characters you can create and use for those missions exclusively. I put my money on second option since there are thousands of battlefields Shepard and his crew won't ever face, so others will do the job here.

I'd love it. It'd feel like playing Femshep if done right. I like tht the VS now is, even though this down plays them a bit, Shepard-lite. Kaidan's possibly two ranks ahead of Shepard, and Ashley's finally a Spectre and acknowledged for the talented soldier she is.Posted Image

@Data; Hmm, yeah who knows what MP will be about, I'm personally thinking coop, but if they'd come up with something original that'll us surprise like Assassins Creed did I'd be fine with that too. (I Just hope it's bog standard deathmatch kinda stuff.)

I like playing as every class, so Ash being a soldier isn't a problem for me.

@AD; I get what you're coming from, but it would be awesome, if they did it, that it'd feel like playing as Ashley (Ok that's a little obvious), that she'd have her own set of moves (Same goes for all other squaddies) and maybe not an omniblade, but an old-fashioned Boomstick smack or execution. So I suppose it'd still kinda like FemShep, but just a tad different.

Here's a quick question; does anyone know how the MP will affect those who use the gibbed save editor for their xbox 360 games?

I've never played any MP games (or modded any games for my 360) so I have no clue about it.

Do you think it will send a red flag to MS?

Afterall, there are some who use it to change the s/s option for Ash.

I tried asking the same question in the MP announcement thread, but it had already jumped up 2 pages after I posted.

@Brainheart

Na, I simply can't play a pure Soldier. I like being able to use some basic techs and especially in ME2 that incinerate skill comes in handy. Okay, an Infi!Shep IS an easy kill once flanked, but he/she isn't made for toe-to-toe-combat. I'm just used to to gun down my enemies either via sniper rifle or pistol.

Will see if the Infiltrator works in ME3 as well as in ME2. By the way - an Infiltrator teamed up with a Soldier is already nearly unstoppable. Just add either pure Tech or pure Biotic and you can do everything.

Lets say, I'm looking forward for the coop-modus. Hang on, is it certain it'll be pure coop? Or do we have to see another hastily cobbled together last-minute multiplayer modus? Stuff happens, especially to games intented for pure single player experience. After all, I'm in that business for more than 15 years now, so I have some experience on that field.

@Ares; We don't really know yet, so I can't help there.

@Data; we don't know what the MP will be, perhaps it'll be coop, but it could just as well be something else. That's why I mentioned AC: Brotherhood, a lot of people complained about it having multiplayer before it was out, but it was actually good and refreshing, granted it'd be harder for ME3 to do refreshing multiplayer, but we'll see soon enough.

Sure. We'll see. Heck with it, if they give us a great ME3 plus a good basic MP, I'm going to pay some bucks for a DLC that improves that MP.
Okay, I also would pay for a DLC released for only one reason: to add additional dialogues and romantic scenes to the game ... so I'm not the ordinary fan *g*

By the way, since it's coming up all day - why are there fans believing Ash is a "bad'n'evil racist"? I don't get it. If Ashley is a racist, then half of my friends from Europe and USA are racists as well. I mean, Ashley has her opinion, but it's not a racist one. She doesn't trust people she doesn't know, that's all. And since she doesn't know much aliens, she doesn't trust them. That's maybe a bit close minded, but Ash IS learning and at the end of the game, her attitude towards aliens shifted a lot to a more friendly one.

*sigh* I just don't get it. Am I racist just because I don't like people not respecting society and culture? A healthy multicultural mix is a great achievment for every society, but only if all work together. And that's the problem - ppl not respecting the "mainstream" culture or society tend to separate themselves from the rest. And that's when I believe they could become a problem one day.
Still - does it make me to a racist? Does it make Ashley to a racist, who's believing something similar?
Nope, at least I hope so.
I'm working in a global company, so I see people of all nations
every day. And there is not a single man or woman I don't like because
they're different.

Whatever. I'm sorry for that political statement. I just wanted to get it off my mind. Simply can't understand the statement "Ashley is a racist". It doesn't work for me.

Just in case someone feels offended by this posting, let me know. In that case I'll remove it.

@Data; Because they don't take the time to understand her. A popular one is misunderstanding the bear/dog analogy she makes. I get the feeling they interpret her precaution as her saying "Humans are superior to aliens!" She doesn't trust aliens and apperantly a lot of people like to write her of for that and they, for instance, ignore that she speaks out against terra firma, just to name an example.

If you don't bother to take the time to understand someone then you're bound to misunderstand that person.

I could go on, but that's what I believe it comes down too.

(And yeah, I'm probably generalizing here)

Edit: Aaand Co-op it is! Here's for hoping that Ashley'll be a playable Co-op companion.

I'm in that business for years now, also including creating characters, Brainheart ... that's why. I don't judgle people on first sight and try to make my own opinion.

Ashley is just a fictional character. Still I feel the urge to defend her, since she can't do it on her own (being unable to respond to anyone from our reality). Being reserved towards aliens is okay for me, especially when looking at Ashley's family. The name of her family got blacklisted because her grandfather refused to throw away countless lifes to fight a superior force. Instead of getting blamed, General Williams should have been honored!

But yeah, you need to get in touch with Ashley or you won't ever understand her. That seems to be a huge step for some - it wasn't even the slightest bump for me. People have opinions. Either you accept their opinions, or you're denying freedom of expression.

*sigh*

Back to Ashley goodness, hm?

@Data; You're right. You know the one thing that always worried me was that I consider Ashley to be the most realistic character in the Mass Effect universe, which makes me wonder if those kind of people often judge real people in the same way as Ashley. That's a rather depressing thought...

The urge to defend her hes lessened in just a few months, it's usually a dead end, since I've seen just about every argument there is from both sides and often so does the person I'm arguing with, but we've both already made up our mind about Ashley.

Anyway back to the goodness is a solid plan. I have good hope that Mass Effect 3 will change the view of some people, since she's matured somewhat, if they can pull it of without losing her complexity, then that's pretty much what I hoped that Ash would be like in ME3. Posted Image

Hmm, why not speculating how ME3!Ash could be?

Intel isn't that good, we just got some facts:

- Spectre Williams
'nuff said. I wonder if that means she'll be out on her own (making her non-permanent squadmate) or if she's going to work with Shepard like in the good ol' days. Guesses?

- Lieutenant Williams
She's still with the Alliance and kicking. I wonder why she got promoted that quickly and for what. Maybe because a mission or an event that's be mentioned at some point in ME3?
Also does that make her to Shepard's second in command? It seems so, since it appears she's in command of the Normandy in the ME3-demo.

- Romance
Do we have to start from scratch or can we continue an existing romance of ME? The feared Horizon meeting can be considered as a break up, the following message tries to repair things, but of course it isn't half as good as a real meeting.

- Character
Every character that came back in ME2 developed some additional traits or lost some others - Tali, Garrus, even Joker has changed. How much character development will we face in ME3 regarding Ashley?
Actually, I kinda dislike the idea she's becoming some kind of "uber kick-ass soldier". She's already the best of the best in ME, so even more could kill her character. Same for poetry - it's fine as it is, it shouldn't become an overshadowing part of her character. Relationship? Please, don't make her another damsel in distress with new issues never mentioned in ME.
Just to name some stuff.
Ashley is great as she is, at least in my eyes, so it's easy to overdo her if not developing carefully.

So. Your turn. My turn is to go to bed. ^^
