A truly loyal Shepard would be trying to get Ashley back and DEFINITELY would not move on after receiving Ash's email.

I didn't need the E-mail. Loyal to her till I get her back or I die.

I'm the exact same way. It's Ash or noone for my canon Shepards. (one dude, one dudette).

but I was trying to make a point that Ashley still cares for Shepard.

Technically, she never says "traitor" ...  and she doesn't say she never wants to see you again. Everyone just uses this as an excuse for a "break up" or to allow them to bang the hot, new character.

A truly loyal Shepard would be trying to get Ashley back and DEFINITELY would not move on after receiving Ash's email. Relationships have rocky places... Horizon is one of them, you just gotta get through it. Hopefully it will be made up for in ME3.

"You betrayed me"

well you can't betray someone without being a....wait for it.............................................traitor.

She questions your mental state (like everyone else) questions your motives and decision making. You cn even ask her to come along and she says "nope" (thought it's cuz she might be a Spectre at the time) and leaves you to return to whatever you were doing while cutting contact with you. sonds like a break up to me. Plus,in game, there's no guarentee that she'll come back to you, even with that email. Because you can still be with cerberus at the end and cerberus seems to be the deal breaker of Horizon because it was smooth sailing until you say "Cerberus" like some trigger word for the VS to rage.

I would imagine that the letter was written ambiguously to give both views credence.

I agree.  What great romance is completely perfect?  Without some hardship it would just less realistic.  Plus, don't know about you guys, but my Shep is getting back together with Ash in ME3.  Oh yes, that's happening.  And how satisfying it'll be after all this time apart. ^_^

Both Shep and Ash are adults who know that in the grand scheme of things the status of their relationship is kind of an after thought. I don't think either of them were thinking much beyond being happy/sad/confused/angry/speechless when they saw each other.

They're clearly not "together." Haven't been since Shep died. I'm not sure they were ever really officially anything like "girlfriend and boyfriend." I don't feel like they got the chance to really get to that place before everything went to hell. They cared for each other and liked spending time together and they each probably suspected that this was "love," but like I said it didn't really get a chance to grow into anything beyond that.

That's what makes things so weird for them now I think. Think of the questions Shepard has: What has she been doing in her life? Has she moved on? Is she over me? Was what we had really so special? Ash probably has some of those same questions.

I think its far more interesting to have left their newly blossoming relationship in the somewhat new and discovery phase rather than to have them clearly been in a mutually deeply committed relationship. With the latter, there is no question when you see that person again that you still love each other. With the former, there is a bit of trepidation, questioning and possible re-exploration. That's what I'm hoping for.

In any case, John is stupid for Ashley. But in his own way. He's put the whole thing to the back of his mind, hoping that one day soon they'll actually get a chance to clear the air. I dare say in ME2 he even may have had a slight connection with Miranda, which he would probably never admit to himself or even notice really because he's' got one woman on the brain.

I can't even fathom how Ashley is feeling. I'm sure there is a part of her that wants nothing more than to just hug him, kiss him and pretend the last two years never happened. But Shepard is also the source of a lot of pain for her (who knows how much) in the last couple of years. There may be a part of her that was finally, FINALLY okay with letting him go and then here he is like a punch in the gut. That part of her might think its easier to simply walk away from it all.

Ohai ^____^  And yes, I agree with ya Sarge!   I also agree with a lot of what Badpie said as well as far as my Shep is concerned.  I'm definitely happy that the relationship is kinda up in the air.  This way when it's revived in ME3 it will seem new and exciting, but there will still be that backdrop of "history" between them.

Yeah anytime I make a post I'm making a post about my Shepard.  Why would I post about other peoples' Shepards?

And I don't want to "re-do" the romance, but I don't think it should be so easily and immediately fallen back into.  That's unrealistic.... for everyone.

Also don't you roll your eyes at me, boy!  :P

It just sounded like you were talking about Shepard in general there. Kind of like how we all talk about ... I think this is how Ashley is or this is how she does that. My Shepard doesn't really like Miranda. That's all.

fair enough... and I agree that there should be some awkwardness and maybe heated discussions and what not... but it shouldn't fall into ... oh I've been here done this type of thing when talking with Ash in ME3. They need to do the romance a bit differently this time around.

*eye roll*, *eye roll*, *eye roll*

*shakes fist* REEEEEEED!

I'm actually not a huge Miranda fan myself, but I can see that she would kind of "work" with my Shepard. They're both smart and driven and offensively attractive and I feel like they could challenge each other on the right kind of level. IF Ashley never existed there may have been a bit of a spark between them, but I honestly don't know if would be anything more than "I enjoy spending time with this person and it is convenient and makes sense."

Luckily, Ash DOES exist and she's pretty much the only woman who has ever so completely grabbed Shepard's attention (for so many many reasons).

Yes and no it may be a bit tired but if we make that kind of thing secondary don’t we lose, or risk losing, our reason to fight, this can be said of life on an individual level.
Valdamar was happy/speechless.

From what we where shown no they may not have been. Though at the same time if you take that and assume that they had feelings to match their actions, to me, they become BF/GF maybe they never got to the superfluous knowledge that helps us build a full relationship but the deeper connection seems implied, imo, if only because they broke such strict military code.

I would agree with this.
I can see what you are saying I just don’t want to have to wait to the end of the game to get back to where we were.
No to the Miranda part.Posted Image
She could be anywhere I hope it’s still in love with Shep though. Provided we are given a chance to convey our intentions one way or the other, without her being hurt.

There is no question that my Shepard loved (loves) Ashley. And believe me as soon as the moment is right and he can make that perfectly clear he will. Dude doesn't beat around the bush. His intention is to be with her. She's very important to him. His only concern (which he will eventually just say "f*ck it" to) is hurting her by telling her these things. You know, that whole "old wounds" thing that he SO GRACEFULLY bumbled over on Horizon.

Well...'My' Shepard kinda went all Renegade after Horizon. He pushed all the other women away and focused on just doing the job with a clear head, and with no feelings blurring the picture. Besides he couldn't move on that easily after knowing Ashley mourned him for a year. That's jerkish, and he couldn't do that, not that soon anyway. It's not over between him and Ash, only on hold ;)

Also, he's not going to play two women in ME3. I could never do that to my girl and my canon Shep's the same.

*If* Ashley hadn't sent that email then things could've turned out A LOT different. But she did, and for my Shep it says it all pretty clearly. Time might have diminished the <3 but it’s still there.

My Shepard(s) = Loyal as dogs.
My fem-shep sacrifices Kaiden for an epic Ash-Shepard bro-mance (or sis-mance? I dunno.). Also, if the dialogues I have provided in the past week are any indication, I want her to get together with Vega. I don't know why people dislike him. I think its refreshing to have a regular marine tossed into this madness. See if he comes out sane (evil laugh here).

I wonder who would win, Shepard's Reach or Ash's flexibility? ^.^
