Ok bit of a Shepley story coming in, kind of following up on Aurora's Shepard playing the guitar story.
(To everyone who doesn't like the long dialogues in the thread and everyone who does really: I won't be doing any or the next few days/ next week, gotta focus on my fanfic and school.)
She carefully plucked the strings, one by one, the tones rushing through her ears. A low sound then a pause as her fingers slid into a different position as quickly as she could move them. A high sounds followed as she slowly started to pick up momentum. Four chords, four chords she kept repeating, she hit one at a time, slowly they were merging into a melody. Then suddenly her finger didn’t make it to the correct string in time; it slipped. It sounded off.
“Damnit!” Ashley said, she took a deep breath.
“I could help if you want.”
Ashley’s eyes widened, she quickly looked behind her, like she had been caught whilst doing something out of line. “Oh, Skipper it’s you.” She laughed a little, “You surprised me.”
“I didn’t know you want to learn how to play guitar, Ash. You should’ve asked, I can teach you some basics.”
“You know me. Not the asking kind.”
“Well, do you want help or not?”
“Ohh I don’t know..” Ash’s voice sounded teasing, “are you a patient teacher?”
“Yeah, I’ve got all the time in the world…Who really cares about imminent threats that could very well mean the death of all life in the galaxy, anyway?”
“Good! Maybe you want to teach me how to get those damn cords right. My fingers are used to pulling triggers, not carefully touching the strings.”
Shepard sat down on the bed, “Come on, you can sit on my lap. You know I rarely bite.”
Ashley laughed again: “Are you trying to turn this into some kind of cheesy make out session?”
“When aren’t I?”
She pushed herself away from Shepard: “Guitar first.”
“So there is a second thing to do.”
“Only if you prove yourself a good enough teacher, Skipper.”
“Well, for starters: tongue is important”
“GUITAR lessons please?”
“Alright, I’m just teasing you Ash. I have to ask though, why do you suddenly want to learn?”
Ashley relaxed and sat down on Shepard’s legs, she stared. “The way you sat there, when I caught you playing…I…The way you remembered what happened in your life that moment, happy and sad at the same time. That’s the way I’ve always wanted to remember…my dad, my family, friends.” She snapped out of the stare and looked towards Shepard, “That and it’d be something fun to do together, during the downtime.”
“I’m not sure it brings exactly that feeling you want Ash, but it’s worth a try and I have to admit teaching you sounds like fun times.”
“I can teach you some proper poetry in return” Ash had a soft smile and a small tear seemed to shimmer in her eye.
“Yeah, why not? It’d give us something to do other than…You know” Shepard spoke challengingly.
“Teasing and make out sessions?”
“Yeah. Now, to teaching the art of playing the guitar.”
Kudos!
loved it! These are the kind of dialogues/stories I like to see in here! I'd say keep it up... but... you said you can't/won't. *has a sad*
