The only thing I didn't like about her new armor when I was at the panel was the triangular area that seemed to be cut out of the chestplate. The only purpose that I can think offhand for it is to see her cleavage.

Other than that the armor looked light, but pretty good.

ahh man, i can sorta see what you're talking about. Can you actually see her cleavage or is there some sort of umm, coverage there? :P

I can see the "there was a hole" jokes already.

You were at the panel?  What were they talking about when this was up?  Any cool new info?

Howdy fellow Ashley fans! I considered making a new thread for this question but I thought I'd try getting it answered here first.

Okay so I have a question for those of you who romanced Ashley. It's a bit complicated and involves dialogue from ME 1 so it may be hard to remember but here goes...
So I was watching videos on youtube of different conversations with Ashley, romance dialogue to be specific as I've never romanced anyone in the ME series and wanted to see what Ash's romance dialogue was like. Anyway I ran into the famous "I'm a hellcat off the battle field too." dialogue from this video...
www.youtube.com/watch

Awesome by the way. So then I was watching another conversation with Ash from another upload on youtube. It took place after Virmire (where Kaidan obviously died) so it obviously started out discussing those events BUT THEN it led to dialogue extremely similar to the dialogue in the above video but with different dialogue options and different results (No Hellcat Reference!Posted Image). I'm left wondering what causes the differences between these two pieces of dialogue...

Click at the 1:17 mark to really see the similarities and differences with the first video.
www.youtube.com/watch

So my curiosity about these differences is driving me nuts and I'd really like to find out what causes these slight variations in this dialogue (also I'm considering doing a playthrough where I romance Ash and I'd like to ensure I get the hellcat reference Posted Image). So for those who had a playthrough with a conversation like the first video do you remember the details surrounding it? Like when it took place, before or after Virmire, before or after citadel lockdown, escape from citadel, what was the conversation before? Ditto for those who had conversations similar to the second video.

Thanks for taking the time to read this everyone. I tried to keep it brief, but it was hard while trying to make my questions as clear as I could.

Cheers!

I just got the hellcat dialogue recently... I just spoke to Ash after doing some more quests before heading off to Noveira. I'll have to look at the vids and get back to you.

I"m new to romancing Ash, and I love it :) I loooove how she calls out Shep for having such cheesy pick up lines lol

Sad because I know Virmire is after Noveria :( I hate this part

Thanks! That helps, maybe it changes if you do after Virmire like in the 2nd video?

Badpie answered the the "absolutely" option and I answered with "You're right". Also another thing, that second video is mine, and I'm pretty sure I edited two bits in together. Which is why it sounds like she repeats herself at first. I think i got every single bit of Ashley dialogue on my channel so go ahead and help yourself if you like.

side note- I had no idea "absolutely" lead to the hellcat dialogue. Will keep this in mind for a future play through. ;)

That helps a lot man! Thanks for the uploads too, helps a lot of ME fans like me who don't have enough playthroughs to romance everyone.

It is nice to hear that. It took a fair amount of work/time to upload all of it. :D

You got 5 months until ME3 comes out, you might want to think about making your own character who has Ashley as a love interest.

Are you talking about her supposedly 'proper' armour in the blurry picture, or her catsuit thing as having cleavage? Please say you're talking about the catsuit.

So when do they start touring? Or are the going to release an album first. Posted Image When you say karaoke do you mean just Shep and Ash, or do you mean (This is what I picture) that everyone is joining in, somehow I see Garrus as the most dedicated karaoke singer of them all.

It's obligatory for the whole crew. It's either the mic or the airlock! ;)
You really should hear Wrex's Barry White - a dream!
No album, no tour! It's for fun and to keep morale up! If all else fails, they shall perform a choir version of a certain Blue Oyster Cult song and blow the Reapers back into dark space.

Re: dialogue - I think sometimes they branch differently because of choices made a little earlier and not just the immidiate one, but I never studied this systematically, it's just my overall impression.
And also you can do missions in any way you like, apart from Virmire, that only is a available after you have completed two of the main missions, so I have noticed sometimes dialogue changes seem to occur based on which missions you have already done
and sometimes your Shepard's background also plays a role.
I sometimes would really love to see, what a video game script looks like.

@badpie: So when and where can we read about your interview? *jealous glare*

Ok I just wrapped up BDTS and some misc side quests... and I got the hellcat dialogue

I'm on Noveria....after that... the romance moves on right? I pick the paragon-y lines with the occassional snark line I think once or twice.... but Ron did tell Ash he wanted her, baggage and all :)

Ash is right.... some of those lines are so cheesy tho'

I actually prefer the neutral and renegade choices when I talk to her. The awesome comebacks to "mean" Shepard make her really shine.

G'morning ... another day @ work.

Zakatak757 wrote...

Ah, captain. Oh captain, my captain.

Thanks for clearing that up. I found the 'skipper' thing hawt.

True - "Skipper" sounds so manly and even better than "captain" or so.
My fav Ashley line regarding "pet names" for Shepard is "Skipper", but "Oh captain, my captain" is also quite hot. She has this special tone in her voice (in german dub as well), that gives me chills Posted Image

Ashley: Skipper?
Shepard: Ash?
Ashley: Just one question.
Shepard: Go on, Ash.
Ashley: It's a ... special question. About the afterlife.
Shepard: I'm sure you're not talking about that bar on Omega.
Ashley: Yeah ... so ... do you mind if I ask you?
Shepard: Just ask, Ash. I don't have any secrets hidden from you.
Ashley: Good ... *takes a deep breath* ... did you see anything when you died? And what happened between this moment and when you came back?

*dun dun duuuuun*

Paragon
Shepard: I felt sadness ... because I knew I'd never see you again. But I was at peace with myself, knowing I had a good life. I can't tell you what happened after I died, but I saw a white light and felt happier the more I went into that light ...

Neutral
Shepard: Difficult to say, Ash. The last thing I remember is how I lost air and everything became dark. My last thoughts were with you. Can't tell you anything past this point.

Renegade
Shepard: I went to hell, kicked the fiend's face twice, turned tail and came back. Easy as it is. Besides that, nothing special.

(Pick one. In this case, I'd go for "neutral", since I'm an atheist)

I'd pick renegade for laughs, or Paragon, see if Ash bites about the cliche' white light thing.

Hmm, just write the dialogue that follows your preferred dialogue option and we'll be fine ;)

Will think about my option ^^

Well In my opinion, I reckon my shepard would say he wouldn't remember anything about his dead or the other life or anything, when in fact he could remember everything and still had nightmares about the pain and burning up in Acheron (that the planet's name? Where the Normandy wreak is located?) atmosphere.

Actually, I'd like to see how Ashley reacts in any of those lines. Does she get mad? I dunno. She seems to be fine that Shepard is NOT believing in the same stuff like she does - at least, she doesn't really ask for. I'd go so far and say she's a "weak believer". She believes there is something and calls it "God", but she's no zealot. Ashley even says that once you saw the stars and such (don't remember entire line) it's impossible NOT to believe in something. She doesn't say this "something" has to be "God" - and that makes her to a quite open minded person imo.

I reckon Shepard would only really truly admit how much he remembered of his death only when he's extremely drunk. Otherwise he would keep it tightly under wraps so long as he was in conscious control of his actions.

Hehehe.
Shepard: *taking back another shot, grunting slightly in discomfort at the burning sensation down his throat* Argh! God. *slams glass down and taps finger on bench.* Hit me.
Bartender: Bad day, mate? *pours another shot*
Shepard: Bad decade.
Bartender: Don't look much like a drinker, mate.
Shepard: Then what do I look like.
Bartender: Someone who needs a friend to talk to.
Shepard: Thanks, but no thanks. All I want is a drink.
Bartender: Not even gonna talk to the gal that paid for that last round.
Shepard: The hell are you talking about?
Ashley: Me.
Shepard: Oh. Uh.
Ashley: Thank you, here's a tip.
Bartender: Just helping out, Miss. *takes credits and walks away at some unseen signal.*
Ashley: So spill. Why with the shots?
Shepard: No reason.
Ashley: John, I know you well enough to know this is unusual for you to drink anything other than a guinness. Hell drinking hard liquor? its completely out of character for you. How many have you had? Two bottles?
Shepard: If I were the same as before, I would be under the table already. Right now? I'm not even tipsy.
Ashley: Why aren't you talking to me?
Shepard: 'Cause remembering things from before hurts. And I don't can't talk about it.
Ashley: Can't or won't?
Shepard: Pick.
Ashley: John, I'm your lover. And it hurts to know that you're hurting and won't tell me why.
Shepard: *hand shakes noticable, he stares at the shot and downs it quickly.* Remember back when you asked me.. about that day?
Ashley: You said you didn't remember anything.
Shepard: I remember everything. The ship exploding, my suit leaking oxygen. Burning up in the atmosphere and the heat searing through the suit and burning my skin off. I remember it all, no matter how hard I tried to forget it.
Ashley: God in heaven...
Shepard: Everytime,  every single time I close my eyes or in the dark, I go back to that moment and it scars the living sh!t out of me. And no matter how hard I try, I can't not feel like it's happening all over again.
Ashley: Oh my god, I didn't know. You were carrying this around, even back on Horizon?
Shepard: Yes back then, and the woman I wanted to confide in completely shut me down. So excuse me for being a little pissed off.

I'd go for the middle option, for the same reason as Data, but I do hope that they expand on her religious side and Shepards death, that is a pretty controversial topic to put in a videogame and now that they've had actually mentioned it, it'd be a shame if they didn't expand on it. And, no , she's not a religious zealot, she's clearly very tolerant of my Shepards atheism. But I'd find it interesting to see more about why she believes what she believes.

@Elek; Barry Wrex White? Why does that make so much sense? Haha, That's probably how he woe's the fertile females: "Can't get enough of your love baby"
and I've always thought music is a likely way to defeat the reapers. (Maybe it'll be just like Mars Attacks!.)

That screams for a second part, Aurora. And I love it already *g*

Also like the idea that Shepard has changed / altered / modified enough to take hard liquor. I mean, he even survived the deadly booze that Batarian gave him. Either Shepard got a stomach of steel or he's not human anymore.

Dunno what's creepier - and hopeful, Ash won't feel disgusted because of that.

The truth is: at the first time I heard her talking about faith, god and such, I was a bit irritated. I mean, the game is set in the 22nd century, don't you think monotheistic religions would have less influence than before?
However, it's good to see there ARE still religions in this century and it appears as if they finally made peace. Religious issues doesn't seem to play a big role anymore, and that's - at least in my eyes - one of the biggest steps forward for mankind.

That gave me the idea that Ashley is either a strong believer in a christian god for 22nd century standards - or a quite weak believer for early 21st century standards. However, she seems to be an open minded believer and has no problems with different religions. Something I really, really love in her.

You wanna write one, go ahead. I've got my muse back for Duet Effect.

Awkward conversation between adopted siblings is awkward, lol. :P
