it maks sense at least. Perception does alot for a character. I think Jacob is the best LI in the series because he goes on to say that he lvoes Shepard but other people don't even do his romane because of how Femshep talks to him. Some people don't talk to Ashley because of her stance on Aliens but we love her for having a mind of her own.

Okay, I must admit that I am one of those people that get creeped out by the femshep/jacob thing. My male Shepard is friends with Jacob but my femShep steers clear. It's a shame that the devs did that initial dialogue so cheesy. If the player wanted to romance Jacob then that behavior was okay but for the rest of us ... eck!

But it would have been eck for me if she had acted that way with Thane, Garrus or Kaidan. Hell, even with all of the females to boot. So the eck at that behavior was about the behavior and not who it was aimed at. EW Shepard would never act that leechy unless she had downed a bottle of tequila ... but then she would have also thrown up on his shoes shortly after leaning against the table.

Keeping fingers crossed that Bioware heard the cries of foul by the many female players.

He seems to have a sort of hero worship with Shepard but not in a weird way. I enjoyed the friendship between my male Shepard and Jacob. Not into the fist bump thing but totally into spilling drinks together. I hear that if you can get past the creepy part of femShep with Jacob they also have a nice friendship but I just can't get past the eck.

He has respect for Shepard. Hell he saw shepard come back form the dead since he was head of security on Lazarus station. He wouldn't go as far as Ash and call her a god, but he does repsect Shepard alot. Though his romane is amazing though. He's the only one to stow his problems and Ask shepard how she is. I hope Bioware builds on that and has Ashley ask Shepard what She's been up too so she can fill her in.

That is why I like Liara myself. She is always asking Shepard how she is really feeling. She also doesn't complain, even when her mother dies. She won't even share her grief which makes me sad but adds another layer to Liara for me. Every relationship can be the best and the worst depending on the Shepard (re: gamer).

I could see where every romance has its pros and cons ... I love going on all the threads and reading how that particular character has the best romance. I like the Ash & Liara romances but I'll hold off until I play ME3 before I have my absolute favorite. Things could really change in ME3.

100% agree. I started out loving just Liara for an LI but considering she was the only s/s relationship (yeah, yeah, she is an asari not a ... whatever) there was no alternative for my femshep. Then I made a male Shepard and he would not stay away from Ash ... Through him I fell for her and that still amazes me how they (Shepards) can drive the choices.

I am curious about Jack but I could never romance her as a male. If they were to open her to femShep and show her to be more healthy (well, as much as would fit Jack) I might be curious. But as it stands now, Jack just needs a real friend with no other motive than to be her friend. But I in no way mean that for other players ... they can romance her all they want. That is just how I see her in my ME world.

I don't know why others have a Shepard that cheats but I'll explain PV Shepard's reason briefly since I discussed this earlier on the Ash thread.

That is a quick look at why he ended up cheating on Ash.

The thing is - you're right. If the player would truly feel like Shepard should (!), then he had to stop reading that mail BEFORE it ends - skipping the part when Ash tries to fix their past relationship. In that case Shepard would consider anything that happens since (and including) Horizon as a break up: "Ash doesn't love me anymore since I'm working for Cerberus and being a traitor in her eyes" - makes sense.

So technically, a player who goes after a new LI in ME2 isn't really cheating on his former LI.
I wonder if there's some kind of reward in ME3 when staying loyal to your first LI throughout the game ...

Ashley isn't xenophobic. That's just stupid statement written by guys who never liked her character. And since Ash comes with no other real flaws, they desperately trying to make her full of flaws.

Poetry? Booooooring. It gets on my nerves!
(I think it makes her deeper and somewhat sexy.)

She dislikes Liara? RACIST!
(And I thought Ashley isn't fond of a competitor - plus the connections to Liara's mother)

Ashley hates racists. She hates Terra Firma because this party seems to be a magnet for racists, not for ppl who believe Mankind needs some protection.
Ashley hates Cerberus for the very same reason (and Miranda says the same in ME2).

I am not really sure how this buisness works in detail, but I was under the overall impression, that it's mostly funded by advertising, so you need pageviews to sell ad space succesfully. I think they are just pushing our buttons, so they link these articles in various forums, pointing out their outrageous nature, so we all stomp over there all nerdrage-y.

We are being played in so many ways, not just "da oversexed" outfits.

Trufax. If I remember correctly you should know german media - they're great in dividing the ppl in small groups: healthy vs those who need healthcare, young against old, men against women and such. Guess it's okay for TV, magazines & co to lie and manipulate all day just to sell more.
I hate this tendency with outmost OUTRAGE!

However *calming down* ... Ashley always gets me on my good side.

I like to rp each of my Shepard's differently. My canon Shepard didn't go that far as to actually cheat on Ash, but there defo was moments when he thought about moving on. "Anyone can catch your eye but it takes someone special to catch your heart." He talked to Miranda, considered it, but didn't push it any further. Shepard has gotta make THAT push himself to start a relationship with Miranda and he didn't make it out of respect for Ashley and what his death has put her through. Plus, one big fight? Isn't gonna keep them from rebuilding in the future. He thinks along the same lines as Ashley and considers their relationship serious and real, and defo something worth fighting for. Though... if Ashley hadn't sent that email he would probably be in anothers arms by now. (I don't really know my Shepard has a mind of his own.)

If Ashley shuts it down completely in ME3, my canon Shepard knows he won't find another quite like her. He'll probably stay lonely for awhile, drinking, brooding and punching, but eventually he'll move on if things don't work out between them.  But Bah! They will! ...Right?

Shame on me. I'll wash my eyes, my mouth and my fingers with soap and will then flagellate myself until my skin looks like Shepard's renegade!face and will sacrifice 40 hours of Shepley-gameplay to please mighty Ashley and pacify her needs so she won't shot me with her boomstick.

By the way, I don't think Ash won't come back to Shepard in ME3. Sure, he'll have to take that first step, but then ... ? I also hope we're going to see some real reward for staying faithful in ME2. I want a big romantic & sappy scene + marriage and stuff.

My canon did practically the same, he wanted to move on, because he felt like Ash had moved on, but he realised just in time he couldn't. Also the email was of importance with this. (Hm, are Shepards are rather alike in this regard.)

Also I do like Liara's romance, my canon had a lot of trouble with that, when he realised he was slowly getting into a relationship with both, in the end the challenge in Ashley inspired him more, that and her lively spirit. He had to set things straight with Liara just in time (If he would have waited it could have been the "threesome" scene, but that's not what my canon wants.)

Also: Ashley&Wrex? That could produce the ultimate soldier.

Edit: And I still don't want to see a marriage, my canonShep is certainly not sure if he wants to marry her and I don't think Ash is sure either. Even if it's a years after scenario, that's something I'd rather decide in my head or in a fanfic, etc. also that way they don't have to dissapoint anyone by giving them a years after scenario that doesn't fit their Shepard.

Canon Shep, An Ash loyalist all the way. My secondary Shepard (the twins) Both were after Ash, but Douglas turned his eyes onto Jack because they had comman ground in their violent tendancies and pain. Although D's pain was more along the lines of 'Holy sh!t I just lost me left arm,leg and eye.'.

Only one Shepard sacrificed Ash for the sake of Romancing Liara... He did not last long.

Wash behind your ears! Sure, Shepard will have 2 make the first move. A real man doesn't tell you what he's gonna do, he'll show her! HUH HUH.

Also, yeah, need that faithful reward. A hot smoking kiss for Shepard or something. Don't know about the marriage thing though... Take it easy son! Can't rush perfection.

The only time Ewan had eyes for another woman was Gianna on Illium, but he was still down from Horizon and in the end he was glad, she had to go back to Noveria, when he returned to the Normandy to find Ashley's email. A week later, though, he found something else in the mail (link not really safe for work!!!), so we will see what happens in ME3; nothing is set in stone for me!

I think Ashley would like to get married someday, considering her fmaily and such have all done it before her. But ha, that's only if Shepard stays with her long enough and treats her right. Don't know if my Shepard wants that (Have I mentioned he has a mind of his own?) if he does decide to have a wife, Ashley will be the one. ONLY if Ashley wants the same though. The only way I can see him asking her, is in a very random way. Ashley will be like WTF? HERE? NOW? U CRAZY BOY.  ....YES.

And Shepard will be like "Ain't got no ring, but I'll get on that. I promise."
Ashely: "I think we're good. Y'know for now."

My canon!Shepard is not even looking like poster!Shepard, and his name is Jacob, not John. I'll post a picture of my canon!Shep if you like.

My Canon!Shep basically made it through ME without getting in touch with Liara. He was nice to her but not in a way she could see any affection. Things were quite different for the girl he saved on New Eden. He nearly instantly fell in love with GC Ashley Williams, despite knowing it wouldn't have any future due strikt regulations regarding fraternization. 
Troughout the mission the bond grew more and more to something that was far more than comradeship. Still, it wasn't allowed. Ashley's feelings for Jacob were tested when Kaidan died on Virmire, but took that bump. 
After stealing the Normandy, effectively branding the Normandy crew as traitors and criminals, both allowed their feelings to become openly mutual.
Ashley was part of the team dispatching Saren and nearly got killed by the reaperized Saren who was resurrected by Sovereign after shoting himself.

The month after the battle Ashley and Shepard worked together and kept their relationship on a lower level to keep the protocol. However both knew they couldn't go back and didn't want.
When Shepard died with the Normandy, Ashley swore to never fall in love again with any other man ...

The meeting on Horizon more than two years later left Jacob Shepard heartbroken and bitter - he almost moved on. Even after reading that message he still was trying to get away from Ashley, since he knew he never could look into her eyes again without feeling guilt for becoming what he was. It was not Miranda who got his eye, but Tali. It almost had happen in the engine room - but Jacob didn't surrender to his feelings for Tali. He loved her as a good friend - and his mind lied to him he could be happy with her. Just a faint voice kept him away from the young Quarian: "you make me feel good enough" - Ashley.
