That's the important question.

Right now I have three possible outcomes:

1. First Shepard was not used since TIM knew he never would work for Cerberus. They created a second one with slightly altering his sense of justice so he can work for Cerberus without too many problems. The changes are quite subtile - basically the same like for normal!Geth vs worshipping!Geth.

2. Cerberus created two Shepards in case one dies while fulfilling his mission. In this case the second Shepard should take over. However, TIM wanted original!Shepard as base to create further Shepards if needed.

3. Cerberus created one Shepard, but TIM got indoctrinated earlier than we know. The second Shepard is full of reaper tech and also indoctrinated while the first Shepard is held in a prison cell on the Minuteman station. This Shepard was created to destroy the Collectors (which became unrealiable) so Cerberus can take over the Collector base ... whatever.

I'm not done yet. Maybe I'll never explain WHY Cerberus created two Shepards.

Funny ... never played that game. It sounds like Star Wars, yeah, kinda, since Palpatine had several clones of himself to stay alive even if he get killed. But that's not what I have in my mind.

There are reasons why Cerberus made more than one Shepard, however, some stuff should never be revealed. Maybe that's one of those things.

I'm more interested in seeing Ashleys reaction. Two Shepards, one aged before his time, the other one still young but only "half human" - and both seem to be changed. What will Ash do? Kill one and keep the other Shepard? Decide against them because it's "ungodly"? Who knows. I'm not even at that point.

I reckon she would be past the 'ungodly' stuff when she accepts the fact that Shepard did in fact die and come back from the dead. I honestly believe it's dependant on the mentality of the two shepards. (you know what? In my canon, Shepard gets promoted to Major so I'm just gonna call the older one 'major' and the younger 'Commander').

If the Commander believes that the Normandy SR1 was only just destroyed, and the Major was with Ash til the end, then Major Shepard would be the one she would follow after. She says that the Major had changed and She did too, after Horizon, but she learned to love this new man with her lover's face and fought by his side and supported him emotionally through to the end. I conjure she'd follow after the Major whom had destroyed the collectors and the rest of the Reapers. No matter what the Commander claims or does, Ash loved and mourned that man already and moved on.

I honestly think that the Major would question himself about being a clone or not and Ash would remind him that she doesn't believe it and more to the point, she doesn't think it even matters.

Dunno. It's a really complex problem. Sure, Ash is done with mourning over dead!Shepard, but she simply can't replace him with someone that looks identically, talks identically, has the same memories, the same sense for justice, the same feelings and so on. It depends on her if she can accept the new Shepard - or if she wants the old Shepard back - especially since he IS alive.

Poor Ashley.

Yea. It is a hard and complex problem to try and write. But before we even discover a clone, Ash believes that the Shepard she has been sharing her life with from ME3 and beyond was the real Shepard. Suddenly being confronted by a so-called 'Original' (or is the Commander the clone?) would shake her faith in what she believes to be correct ... again. And shake the Major to the core when confronted with the idea that he seemingly stole what he perceived as his life and experiences from someone else. Although he is his own individual since he has experiences that the other does not.

Oh you got me wrong. The fic is playing somewhere shortly after beginning of ME3 story - they'll discover the "original!Shepard" while dispatching a Cerberus installation.

Ash & ME2!Shepard didn't hook up yet so nothing serious had happen.

We are losing focus on Ashley with all the double Shepard silliness!

Ash is worth it, after all!!

And as far as marriage goes, I am definitely in favor of a fade out to credits from their beach scene (honeymoon) after their nuptials.

Oh, and maybe we can focus our dialogue on a reunion in ME3 based upon a Shepard (only one) that is true through ME2... please?

Both PV Shepard and Ashley are protestants and he would never live with a woman or have children with her outside of marriage. He's a traditional kind of guy and his mother would kill him if he even tried.

He would pick a romantic setting and propose on one knee with his great-grandmother's engagement ring.

They would have a big military wedding in Ashley's hometown at an old deserted monastery that she played in growing up.

That is my story and I am sticking to it!  

Now off to work and real life!

It won't work at all. Jacob is a nice guy, but lacks that little bit "sexy" that makes Shepard far more interesting in Ashley's eyes. Sure, Ash can find love without Shepard - but do she want? Lets stick with the Normandy SR1 there's Kaidan and Joker (main cast) or Adams, Pressly and some random male crewmembers. Did she ever try to get attention of those men?
Nope. Because it was against the rules.
She ignored rules when talking & flirting with Shepard. Why? Mr. Suave isn't very suave when it comes to romantic talk, so that's not the reason why Ash went after Shepard. Guess Shepard has something those other guys don't have (although I like the idea of Kaidan&Ash) ...

That could be the case aswell, Lol it sounds like a problematic relationship already.

Edit: @Data; I guess Shepard has that 'James T. Kirk magic', I find no other reason why everybody's so attracted to him.

If you ask me, he's not really Ashley's type. Too pale and with a 'stache - dunno, doesn't really fit. But since Ashley falls in love with even the ugliest Shepard if he goes after her, Ashley seems to love characters more than looks. Amirite?

I am planning on making an ugly Shepard myself just for the giggles ... But I could never hook him/her up with Ashley, Kaidan, Miranda or Liara. Just so wrong on so many levels to me.

I debated between Tali & Garrus as the LI and getting the ugly Shepard and since Garrus doesn't find humans attractive anyway ... ta da! Ugly femshep is going to be born. Naming her Tallulah.

I really couldn't give Tali an ugly Shepard either.

I actually hope so. It adds drama. Not with Jacob though. Squadmates don't need to bang each other. Makes the world feel small and weird 2 me. As far as we know Ashley doesn't even know Jacob anyway. (Horizon.)

In ME Shepard is like a god to men. He represents Earth, humans ect. I believe BioWare stated "Shepard was a leader of men." That could explain why most squadmates want to be on Shepard's d*ck or up *her* yeah...... There's no need!  Well, you get my drift.

With everything Shepard has done, well... it's impressive. He's pretty much the best human in Mass Effect.

Ashley goes for looks too, cmon! But because it is a GAME it doesn't really matter. Remember the ass comment? She's obviously been checkin things out and nodding in approval behind shep's back lol.  Human nature. I think it takes more than simple good looks for a "man" to make a real impression on Ashley though. He's gotta walk the talk y'know? I think I'm offically talking nonsence again...but oh well.

Also, Pressly ...Oh, jesus.  Thank god he died. There is a god!

Everyone keeps saying that's Ashley in armor, but to me it looks a hell of a lot like the other outfit we've seen her in. The shoulders are the same, and appears to have the same "tunic" look about it.

Why did the one pic we got of it have to be so low quality? =/
