Shepard: Argh! Could have warned me, Doc!

*a few hours later, in Armory*
Ashley: Shepard. I uh I'm sorry. Lost my temper a bit.
Shepard: Trust me. My nose is infinately familiar with that.
Ashley: How is it?
Shepard: Terrible. I'll be scarred for life.
Ashley: Mal.
Shepard: Good as new in a few days.
Ashley: Right. Sorry again.
Shepard: Don't be *hands her a datapad.*
Ashley: What's this? *reads, her expression turns from curiosity to horror as she goes on.* You - You wouldn't.
Shepard: I would and did.
Ashley: b-b-but! I punched you once.
Shepard: How sweet revenge is.
Ashley: I get the whole eye-for-an-eye thing, but this is downright cruelty!
Shepard: *biggest ****-eating expression he could muster* I'll look foward to seeing how well you clean up, Lieutenant.
Ashley: *gapping helplessly as he walks out. Datapad reads: Undercover assignment. Investigating fashion business for drug trafficing. She looks down at it.* That's just cruel... Well played, Major. Well played.

Shepard: Indeed she does. But I would for once like to have a dialogue written where I'm not: Tortured, tormented, drunk, high, whipped or punched in the face. Is that so hard?
Ashley: For Aurora? yes.
Shepard: Why?
Ashley: Something about wanting to see you topless and/or covered in scars. I think she has a drawing of you shirtless somewhere with all the scars from your cybernetics showing. And I think there's some bleeding in there too.
Shepard: *shudders at the thought.* Wait. She lets you see them?
Ashley: Maybe...
Shepard: Do I at least look... good in them?
Ashley: Heard of the phrase 'patchwork'?

Indoctrinating your LI seems like such a cheap way to create an emotional scenario, because he or she has no choice in this, there is not enough conscious conflict within the character to make it interesting, the conflict is between holding on to your own thoughts and what the Reapers make you think. SO I really hope they don't go that easy route, for some drama. /rant

I hope Ashley will keep fighting the Reapers, alongside Shepard or not. I hope to see some change within her, perhaps influenced by the talks she'll have with Shepard. I'd like to see her change from fighting mainly for and with humanity, to fighting for and with the species in the galaxy. Something along those lines.

Trufax. However, afaik there is that traitor-rumor. And as I said before, my money is on "Liara" - at least a lot of stuff supports this theory. That doesn't mean Liara will become a traitor, but she's the most obvious choice if there is a traitor in ME3.

I hope we won't see a traitor or indoctrinated squadmate - or at least I want options to either avoid indoctrination or to save them. Dunno how - I still don't like events I can't change with my actions in a game that's promising large scale influence of player's choices.

Exactly.
Since Ash is the new Spectre she's at least fighting for the Council and therefore for all Citadel races. I dunno if the Council picks someone they can't trust and therefore, Ashley must have gained their trust & respect earlier. Doubt so if she were a racist (and we know she isn't).

However, I wonder how things turn out. I want Ash playing an important (vital) role for Shepard in this finale. Nothing more (no Mary Sue) and nothing less (unimportant cameo like in ME2).

Ashley: Look, Mal. When you passed on the first time along with the first Normandy. I was fell to pieces. I couldn't function at all. Read a lot of Tennyson, thinking of you. Used to visit your... your grave every chance I could. Spoke with your parents a lot.... found that Roxanna really was just your adopted sister.
Shepard: Not to break the tension and the mood here, but I swear I told you so.
Ashley: Yes. You did, and I apologise for not listening.
Shepard: Its fine.
Ashley: It took me a lot of help to bury the pain, and when I saw you on Horizon again. It was like ripping open a barely healed scar.
Shepard: I had no control over that.
Ashley: I'm aware of that. But it shook me even more than your death did.
Shepard: Seeing Cerberus' logo stamped on everything I had couldn't have helped.
Ashley: I'm making a point, but I can't if you keep interrupting.

Ashley: Anyway. I buried a lot. I told you, and when the council asked me to join the SpecTRes it almost felt like everything I fought so hard for in my life had paid off.

Ashley: But. It all felt wrong somehow. I felt like I was getting all the praise for trivial rubbish while you were off fighting the Collectors, slavers or god only knows what. And it seemed like I wasn't worth what I was getting.
Shepard: Ash. I'm only going to say this once and once only. You survived Eden Prime, you helped uncover the truth behind Saren, helped give peace to Matriarch Benizia, saved colonists from a horrible abomination of a plant controlling their every actions and were there at the End of Sovereign... and broke Udina's jaw - which I thought was totally awesome.

So for the love of the seven gods and everything holy, don't you dare say that again. You earned your place in the SpecTRes, more than earned it. You earned your commission and you fought, and clawed and scratched your way to the top. And if the Alliance survives this I can see that rank climb even higher.

*long silence*

Shepard: Good enough pep talk?
Ashley: Yea... thanks.
Shepard: Anytime.
Ashley: So, you don't see the Alliance surviving the war with the Reapers?
Shepard: Way I see is there's a definite wedge between the people who give a rats ass about the Galaxy, and the people who only care about face. The Alliance is walking a fine line at the moment between stability and collapse.
Ashley: Where do you stand?
Shepard: Let's just say - if the Reapers don't push it over the edge by the end of this war then I will.
Ashley: Never once pegged your as an insurgent, Mal.
Shepard: I never would have entertained the notion, and I find it an irony that it was a terrorist that helped me realise this but the Alliance and council try to keep a tight grip on things. They suppress the Media's mention of the Reapers, spin lies and fabricate false stories.
Ashley: Like your mental health?
Shepard: Wha - Oh, god, that's been going down the crapper since way before this started. Even I can tell that. But my point is, its their incompetence, fear and disillusioned state of omnipotence that has left the galaxy in such a vulnerable state.
Ashley: So, you're willing to let the Alliance and possibly the entire galaxy slip into chaos?
Shepard: It already is chaos. But even chaos has some pattern or semblance of order if you look closely enough.
Ashley: You know I agree with you on some points, the council and all the bull**** they've piled on you has been pathetic and unfair or purely to stall your efforts, but where do you see yourself in this chaotic maelstrom of reform? Watching from afar?
Shepard: I'd honestly prefer to be at it's centre....

Ashley: I'm blaming me for stuff I can change but don't at it's time. I blame me because I'm a soldier that shouldn't get broken if a comrade dies. You make me feeling weak whenever you're exposed to enemy fire. John, I don't want feel like that ... I'm here to change this.
Shepard: Ash, just think about it ... okay?
Ashley: And how many times? It's my decision.
Shepard: It is.
Ashley: Then accept it. We need to go different paths for a while. Just need time to sort things out. I can't allow my feelings making me weak.
Shepard: They don't weaken you, Ash - they give you strength ...
Ashley: So? Maybe for you. Maybe you can go further knowing someone in this universe is worth fighting for. If that's Ashley Williams for you, I'm fine. Just don't expect the same from me. I'm not only a soldier, but also a woman. A woman that can't bear the sight of her wounded lover.
Shepard: Ash ...
Ashley: Good bye, John. I'll leave the Normandy in an hour. We'll see us again ... maybe.

@Aurora: did you realized stuff comes out of your fingers (= stories) when listening to really good & touching music? Usually I listen to Two Steps from Hell or ME sound track to get right mood. Sad music means sad dialogues & stories ... *g*
