However, those 'quotes' are no 'quotes' from ME, ME2 or ME3 nor any scraped stuff that never made its way into any ME. It's just stuff I believe Ashley could say, think or write down Posted Image

Nice dialogues by the way. Poor Shep - hope he'll get better one day - or Ash could leave him. I mean she loved the man of ME1 - and that was a nice dude, not the dark!Shepard of ME2 on whom your Mal is based ...

Cerberus - what did you do to Shepard? What was the ungodly deed that brought him back from the dead? For more than three months I'm asking myself, but can't find an answer. Is this really Shepard? Or is he just a clone, a new being with memories of my Skipper? I hate to admit it, but that's maybe the truth. My Shepard is dead and the one I saw on Horizon isn't him. He can't be. I wonder what I'll see when looking into his eyes. It's said they're windows to our souls. What if I can see the soul of my captain? What will I do? I'm not sure anymore if I was less sad and broken when knowing he was dead than now ...

For the record: no quote from the game ... Posted Image

Activity is slow.... WTB more Shepley.

And I have an EPIC Shepley snippet in the writing about my Mal's change of name/attitude and the f*cking PC reset and I didn't save it! T.T

Nutshell (be warned OOC ness):
Ashley: John?
Shepard: Yea?
Ashley: Why change name to Mal?
Shepard: Cause I aint John Shepard, at least I don't feel like I'm John Shepard.
Ashley: Huh. Suppose that makes sense. Cause you've changed like, tonnes.
Shepard: Yep. Cause Cerberus, Collectors and the Reapers are w*nkers.
Ashley: They may have indoctrinated you.
Shepard: If you feel that's the case then toss me behind bars or put a round in my head.
Ashley: I don't think I could suffer that again. If you die, you aren't gonna be alone this time.
Shepard: Lets pray that won't be necessary.
Ashley: Amen to that. Now lets go.
Shepard: Yea, Places to see and people to do.
Ashley: Mal!
Shepard: Wait ... that came out wrong.

'nother Shepley. Could be dark ...

Shepard: So you would end your life if I die again?
Ashley: That's not what I said.
Shepard: I think you did.
Ashley: John, I didn't
Shepard: As I said, I'm not "John". I'm "Mal". Guess that name change comes with dying. I can't be John since John died.
Ashley: *sigh* That again? 'cause you had to shoot your Doppelganger?
Shepard: You know I had to do it.
Ashley: Yes, you did it. Had to? No.
Shepard: Two Shepards claiming to be the "true" Shepard? Galaxy wouldn't understand.
Ashley: John ...
Shepard: "Mal".
Ashley: JOHN. You killed your clone. And as far as I can see you're the real Shepard, no indoctrinated dude. Why do you always make stuff complicate?!
Shepard: That's because it IS complicated stuff. How would you react if you die and come back and there is no f*cking light but a new hell you have to go through? How would you react if everyone you cared for gives sh!t about you because you're wearing the wrong team's colors?!
Ashley: John ...
Shepard: Ashley. You know me better than anyone else. You should understand me.
Ashley: I don't. And you know that.
Shepard: Then cut the "John" and call me "Mal".
Ashley: *sigh* You're insane, Shepard. You definitely need to see a shrink. Better two. One for you and one for your huge ego.
Shepard: Thought we were beyond that point.
Ashley: I'm not joking, John. You need help.
Shepard: Okay. Shoot me. Best help I can get.
Ashley: Easy way out of your life? Forget it.
Shepard: Then I don't want help.

I thought you would write more (another snipped, dialogue ... whatever) ^^
Oh and by the way ... yeah, I know, I still have to post that Doppelganger-fic. When it's done.

Ashley: So.
Joker: What?
Ashley: I did it.
Joker: You did what.
Ashley: I shot Shepard.
Joker: Okay.
Ashley: ...
Joker: Wait ... you did what?
Ashley: I shot Shepard.
Joker: And why?!
Ashley: He begged for it. So I did it.
Joker: You know that's a bit extreme ... do you?
Ashley: Whenever two Spectres face each other, one dies.
Joker: Whut ... doesn't make sense to me.
Ashley: It's the golden rule. Saren, a Spectre, died, because Shepard was after him. And I heard Shepard had to kill another Spectre while helping Liara getting her hands on the Shadow Broker. So obviously I had to kill Shepard or he would have killed me.
Joker: Doesn't make much sense ... however: did I mention you look beautiful and you're awesome?
Ashley: No.
Joker: You're beautiful and awesome. Please don't kill me.
Ashley: I think about it.
Shepard: What's up?
Ashley: What the ... ?!
Shepard: Lazarus 2.0.
Ashley: Rats.

I'm just trying to think of one that wouldn't give away some part of Shepard's history and another key character to his past. I'll do it if people wouldn't mind some slight spoilers to Duet Effect.

What the hell. I'm not getting any younger and by the time it becomes relevant in the story it'll probably be something completely different.

Can I ask... what is the purpose of this thread?

I am seeing more and more where folk's comments or questions are largely ignored and fanfics dominate this thread. Is this more of a fanfic thread?

I was wondering: Do you here think Ash will recite some more poetry? and what kind of poetry, like a theme.

I was thinking perhaps a snippet of Tears, Idle Tears by Tennyson when they talk about when Shepard was dead, that poem might have gone through Ashley's head from time to time.

I have been thinking about Ashley's relation to poetry myself at some point in the past and I think it's inextricably linked to her father (she seems to be her father's daughter in every aspect and much closer to him in general than to her mother, but this is another topic, might put my thoughts on that into writing in the future)
and I am inclined to think that her interest in poetry goes only so far as to what her father liked to read and have her recite for him. The game basically only offers us Tennyson as an example and I would focus the interest on anything that is similar, both in theme and form.
(AFAIK, Letoile's intention was for her to rececite from Heinlein's "Green Hills of Earth", but there were some sort of copyright issues, which is also interesing, but it's not in the game and therefore irrelevant)

I recently stumpled upon another Tennyson poem in a different context, and though I don't fully understand it yet, it reminded me of Shepley regardless, but what doesn't these days...

After-Thought

I thought of Thee, my partner and my guide,
As being past away. -Vain sympathies!
For backward, Duddon! as I cast my eyes,
I see what was, and is, and will abide;
Still glides the Stream, and shall not cease to glide;
The Form remains, the Function never dies;
While we, the brave, the mighty, and the wise,
We Men, who in our morn of youth defied
The elements, must vanish; -be it so!
Enough, if something from our hands have power
To live, and act, and serve the future hour;
And if, as toward the silent tomb we go,
Through love, through hope, and faith's transcendent dower,
We feel that we are greater than we know.

"Tears, idle tears" might be something that was going through her mind in mourning, I agree, but it somehow also lingers in the past and I think she would choose to leave it in her own past as well and not bring it up again,
Things are grim enough as they are, it's time to face the future.

We've only be posting dialogues if the comments are stand-alone or have already been answered.. also, it's nice to toss comments up with the Fan dialogues... they're all for laughs or for fun or even plausible situations and scenarios that Shepley could face.

If you want to blame anyone for starting this, blame me. I just thought it would be fun to toss things up a bit when I first came to the forum two months ago. I admit I have gone over board in some places but I think that some people like reading what I have to write, and none of the material is large enough to be made into proper fan fictions, so I simply post them here where fellow Ash-enthusists can read them, enjoy and even give back criticism. I might even use some of them as part of my major fiction, 'Duet Effect', but I'm not at that point yet.

I'm simply trying to get people to laugh and break up an otherwise boring, though informative debates with snippets of amusement and scenarios for people to dwell on and share their thoughts about.

We have nothing new on Ashley at the moment and therefore I'm trying to encourage people to think about other possibilities while waiting for new information in regards to our favourite Love interest.

Well, basically this thread is for discussing Ashley, but fanart and fanfic also have their place here, but personally I think if it has a certain length, it would be better to put it as a blog entry, like Aurora just did above you.
As long as people are civil they can discuss anything and ask questions relating to Ashley, but it is fairly common these days, since we don't have not much new info, that some questions might have been already discussed in the past and people, who have been around longer, just don't have an interest in discussing the same things over and over again. I myself have started a few topics in the past, that only had a few or no responses, sometimes there might be just little interest in this topic and people have no opinion on it. That is just the way it is. Sometimes, when the thread moves a little faster or we don't have time to come here as often, we might just not be reading everything that has been posted.
This all is in my opinion of course and I think there might be something about the purpose of the thread in the OP as well.

Besides that ... I like the idea this thread is used for some kind of "character development". Ash comes with a great character, and it doesn't damage her if we put additional traits and quirks to her.

Guinness? German Beer? Coffee, hot, black, tough, with less than a spoon sugar? 2 hours daily exercise while disliking ripped women and hating anabolics? That's Ash. At least a bit of her in my imagination.

Too bad we lack new Ashley news. All we have is "old stuff", and talking all day about her open hair or new armor won't keep this thread alive. Especially since we DO have already a thread dealing with Ashley's new looks - which seems to be quite hot. Half of the guys hate new Ashley, either because they hate Ashley as a character or because her new looks, others love her (like I do).

*sigh* Ashley demands more news about Ashley!

Sometimes to keep a thread alive, you have to present these scenarios (or it seems raise questions about the thread itself) to keep it alive... in two months since I started watching this thread, it has expanded about 3-5 pages every 24 hours, where threads like the Kaidan or Miranda thread expand about 20 pages a day (Gross exaggeration, yes, but there is a point). Sometimes making joke snippets and things like that are needed to keep the thread alive.

Ashley: It helps someti -
Me: Ash, love ya. Shut up, I'm making a point.

Sometimes it takes more than going over old, mouldy and already thoroughly discussed topics and information that we have chewed up/analysed as thoroughly as is currently possible. If we had more information on Ash, then we'd be chewing on that carcass, not trying to make up stories to entertain ourself. Though CptData's and everyone else's contributions have been awesome :D

Still the purpose of these threads is not to see, which one grows the fastest. It might get a little difficult for people, who don't come here every day to distinguish the actual info and discussion from the merely imagined parts, as it sometimes is not really clear.
People are welcome to discuss older topics as well, if they do find someone, who is interested to discuss it with them.
As I said fanfic has its place, but when it is getting too much, the option to put it in a blog and merely link it, should be considered. I do understand, where Meldwyn is coming from.

Isn't that a short story? Or am I confused.(That happens Posted Image) Anyway I didn't know she was originally going to recite something different, quite interesting. Ofcourse she recites "Oh captain my captain" (Walt Whitman) which most certainly would have gone through her head whilst he was dead, she must have thought it was eerily appropriate to his death for something she recited during their romance moment.

Also I had the same thought, that her father got her to reading poetry, but I do think she reads stuff she hasn't read before and maybe tried making some of her own stuff (at which she wasn't very good I'd say). That poem's nice, but I think it's a little uncomprehensable if you hear her recite it once, It's quite hard to grasp the meaning, or maybe I'm a little slow.

To Meldwyn; The thread has kind of taken a turn from being quite inactive during well.. GMT: morning-midday and  I'd say more active GMT: evening-night. Now what has changed is that the thread has become more active during morning-midday with Dialogue's and that sort of thing. Although I do find that putting the longer ones into blogs a is sensible idea, that way it keeps clarity and doesn't scare of people or refrain them from posting. The somewhat shorter ones are fine. All my opinion ofcourse.

@Aurora; Oh if Ashley'd love Monty Python..Posted Image
Ashley: and now for something completely different: A reaper with a speech of about our imminent demise. Oh wait..Posted Image

Lets make more Ashley info.

It still bugs me that half of the fandom things Ashley is a racist. I mean, what gives them that idea? Compared to today standards, Ashley is open minded. Compared to other "more advanced races" Ashley is NOT a racist. I saw far more Asari, Turians and Salarians using racist statements than Ashley or any other human crewmember.
