Here's another link I just came across, this one has additional info - including her place of birth.
Not sure how concrete it is though.

Ha, the fact that she appears to be born at the Vercingetorix Outpost, lets my celtic tree horoscope epiphany shine in an even brighter light - at least in my twisted mind. :D

Statement in favor of Ashley/FemShep-romance and DA2-like romance-system incoming.
If you are not interested, skip it.

When I first played ME, I played as FemShep and I played without knowing many details about the game. But i
defintely saw romantic sparks between her and Ashley before I even realized that romance was actually a possibility
in that game and I was a little frustrated that my FemShep couldn't even bring up her feelings towards Ash, when
she could do so with Liara, because for me Ash was the most interesting character from the start.
I got over it.

Until Bioware announced that they would include 'real' (as opposed to monogendered Asari and 'light'-romance Kelly) s/s romantic relationships in the final part of the Mass Effect trilogy.
At first I thought, they probably won't change the existing romance options and that I'd actually prefer it that way, but I eventually came to a different conclusion.

The questions that let me there, were:
1. How much does sexual orientation influence a person's character?
2. Can a person's character change?
3. What importance has the romantic sub-plot in the overall story of Mass Effect and how much does the sexual orientation of the characters influence it and what actually is the form of the story?

1. IMO, it doesn't very much.
The personality of the persons I am attracted to, says far more about me, than what sex/gender they are.
Shepards personality can range from a goody two shoes paragon to a raving lunatic renegade.
Personally, I have more problems believing Ashley could fall for a self-involved a-hole, than that she could fall for a woman, but yet it is possible.

2. Yes. Character is not set in stone. There are studies on this. Look it up!
The fact that a character's apparent sexual orientation is changing throughout a story can make for an interesting
development. Nothing needs to be suddenly and without explanation.

3. The romances in Mass Effect are a minor sub-plot. Its purpose is to connect the player emotionally deeper to
the game and its characters. It has no effect on the outcome of the story. You probably can defeat the Reapers
without having romanced anyone.
Shouldn't it therefore be possible for the player to choose the romance combination that actually grants him the deepest possible emotional connection?
I quite like the Gaider-approach on this, though the actual implementation in DA2 is debatable, but this is not the place to discuss this.
If this were indeed a piece of literature with only one way to tell the story and not a game with literary quality and mulitple ways to tell its story, I would agree that I wouldn't want every character suddenly turning bisexual, but this isn't necessarily the case.

The game is a sequence of possibilities that become concrete with the player advancing in the story, making one specific choice the reality for that particular playthrough and therefore negating all other alternatives. That means if you romance Ashley as a ManShep, her potentially being bi or "suddenly lesbian" won't or at least shouldn't be an
issue.

What annoys me, is when people are saying that changing the apparent sexuality of someone, though it has been argued that this wouldn't actually be the case, would somehow break continuity, when in fact they refuse to see how this happens in real life
and when they consider the way they see a character the only legitimate one.

And it annoys me even more when people belittle our motives for asking for this kind of relationship as mere whim or a creepy obsession with 'two chicks gettin' in on!', when all we want to do is to establish a special emotional
connection between the character we care about the most and our version of Shepard.

In the end it is up to the Devs how they are going to do it and I'll be fine either way, but I want at least to
play my FemShep the way I see her and be able to tell Ashley how she feels and risking to be actually turned down
and not just ignored.

tl;dr:

I wish you the best of luck. Although I do believe they've told us there will be s/s romances in Mass Effect 3, they  just haven't been very specific. Ash is worth it so i hope you get your wish.

So, is anyone else going to enter some art for the Bioware art contest? Does anyone have any ideas I could steal for a good scene with Ash and Shep, or maybe just Ash?

yup,big lapse in judgment.cant see how anyone would leave ash for miranda....nothing against ppl who like her...but the ME2 romances are so BLAH.they feel so cheap like bioware couldnt be bothred to add any depth to them.
anyway in the tradition of awsome ash motivanals..............

I would put my stuff in there, but along with it not being really good, it's just me cutting Ashley out and putting her on a pretty background nothing spacial. but some Ash art would be ncie to see, especially if someone other than sheploo is involved. seriously, some diversity would be nice then seeing vanderloo's face with Ashley all the firggen time.

Well, I think you can do one with Ash and Shep sparring or maybe them both standing on that ledge thing overlooking the galaxy map on the SR1.

Oh, btw I love all of your work Raanz it is some of the best out there.

This. I'd love for Ashley to have a ponytail when there could be gun fire, which is almost you're off the normandy now that the reapers have arrived.

In my humble opinion, all of the changes to Ash's overall appearance are welcome. Ash is an interesting woman, it's nice to see her let her hair down (literally). Since she is now a Spectre, she can throw those pesky regs out the window; stop calling me "Commander" or "Sir!" It's either Skipper (your pet name) or Shepard! Lol

Kind of wish they would have kept her in medium armor (good color scheme, but the jumpsuit doesn't really fit Ash's character as a Marine). I was kind of hoping that the jumpsuit and loose hair would be her "leisure appearance" aboard the Normandy, tying her hair back (preferably in a ponytail, ditch the bun) and putting on her armor for battle.

Whatever Bioware decides for her, I'm sure I'll be fine with it. At least she's returning so that my malesheps can rekindle their romance with her!

Ouch! I guess I'm one of those people up to the part in bold and underlined. Image IPB

For me it was about the story and what felt true to that Shepard. As I have said previously, he loves Ash. No ifs, ands or buts. But after Horizon, he was hurt, angry and ..... PISSED! The one person that he really needed and he felt betrayed.

Now, as the gamer I absolutely understood Ash's response & his ... but I don't play Ash, I play Shepard. So I had to let him go with his perspective only... and his anger. His lack of faith in her and his finding solace somewhere else was wrong but human. My Shepard isn't perfect. After he strayed, he realized that he had made a mistake and has been angry at himself since. Before her "new look", I knew that Shepard wanted her back, hell he never stopped loving her no matter how hard he tried.

I had contemplated doing a re-run and not letting him wander months ago, but that would feel false to this story. And to be honest, it is because of his mistep that while he is not my canon Shepard (that's my femshep) he is the story that I am looking forward to the most. When I saw Ash pulling him up on the Normandy, I could almost feel his shame, joy and anger mixed together as she reached out for him. I can only image what he thought as her beautiful dark eyes looked into his in that quick moment. If he had stayed faithful in ME2 I don't think that I would have been as emotionally connected to them in that moment.

Not everyone who strayed did so because they thought another character was "hotter", but because they were trying to let the story in that Shepard's eyes unfold. Sorry for the rambling, but I had to voice my Shepard's case. He already has Ash & Miranda to contend with, I don't want the fans of either on him. Image IPB

He is, after all, a good guy that has just made a few dumb mistakes.

you can do whatever you want to in your ME playthrough,as for me ash no contest.a well written shiala romance would prob be the only other romance option i can see for my shepard and i mean ME1 ash caliber romance sub-plot.

Here's a call out for you:

[Shepherd, Ash, and Wrex in shootout with da badguys]

*Suddenly Ash's pigtail is singed*
Ashley: He shot my hair! That son of a b**ch!
*Massive gun fire erupts from Ashley's assault rifle as wave after wave of badguys fall*
