@brain: Oh, I never doubted your imagination in general, you just have to use it while playing (edit: the important part for me is to do it in the moment, in game. Despite having a rather rich background story for my Sheps, I am not really interested in writing it down, because the fun for me is doing it on the fly)- all those bits and pieces about my Shepard's I sometimes mention, I came up with them while playing and the game is much more to me, than what it offers, but I am trying to stay as close to the framework Bioware has build as possible. That is what I am talking about, like Anna's squad trying some basic krumping, well, kind of, probably not the best place, though, in the ruins of Feros ;-)
I guess, I am just not comfortable staying within the lines,,,

Well, it's only her voice as by this time Oracle, the character Ashley plays, is no longer batgirl b/c the Joker shot her in the spine... so she can't be batgirl anymore.
But I swear every time I hear her voice, all I can think is, "OMG IT'S ASHLEY! <3" XD

Alright another Ash challenge,
If there was another timeskip, and Ash went through a 'vigilante' stage, what would her 'alias' be or (praying this does not happen, but similar to garrus) if she were wounded, what kind of wind would it be and how would your Shepard get her out of there?

Kinda funny. Given the fact Ashley is (most likely) a christian she would go a similar route like Garrus and naming herself after an Archangel (not THE Archangel, but one of them). I'd go for "Michael" - she also will conceal her sex so there are no traces left to her past. She also could use "Gabrielle" - female version of "Gabriel", another archangel.
Her group would consist of seven members (including herself), none of them know her as Ashley Williams. No traitor, but at some point Ashley disbands her squad (maybe after one of her members died) because she hates to put others lives in danger. After leaving her squad she's working alone as some kind of freelancer, but all jobs are related with the Reapers threat
Wound? Most likely a scar in her face - not too large and disfiguring, but still visible. Another possible wound is a penetrating gunshot wound through either a leg or her right hand, effectively crippling her for a month or two. She'll survive it and is able to return to combat duty later.
Something like that.

Anyway - awesome as that is, if you read the instruction, it said 'Another timeskip'. Meaning a second timeskip, possibly after the Reaper invasion was over. Sorry if that wasn't specified clearly. Back to it, how would your shepard react to it and how would he get her out of there?

My second timeskip happens while the invasion is still going, but okay, lets give it another try ...
Post-war timeskip.
Why did Ash left Shepard?
Most likely because Shepard had a horrible break down (PTSD) and she couldn't watch him falling apart - especially since her presence seemed to make things worse.
Still a Spectre?
She's still a Spectre, however, she's not pulling that card while being "Gabrielle". Her squad consists mostly of Vets. Ash is also using her connection to SB!Liara to get her missions.
At some point she gets "rogue", maybe because she's also suffering some kind of PTSD - but could also be related to Shepard's fate.
That means Ash was Gabrielle BEFORE going rogue!
Reunion with Shepard?
Shepard is reinstated as a Spectre once he made it through social rehab - his PTSD is still there, but he can control it far better now. His first mission is to go after a Spectre that cut any connections to the Council. Shepard's job is to investigate and find out what happened. When he realizes Gabrielle is Ashley, he tries to convince her. Of course she doesn't listen and they both start a fight.
At the end Ashley is wounded and Shepard brings her back to the Normandy. Like Shepard Ash has to go through rehab, but this time they stay together.

@AD; Hmm Ashley as batgirl...that might be an interesting challenge.
@Elek; I don't think I use my imagination as much in-game, but when I do, it's often something silly. Serious stuff is more often after the fact with me. I love playing games in an imaginitive way, but I'd find it hard to develop characters/situations that aren't silly during a game.
@Aurora; hmm, that's tricky, I'm not good at giving Ashley an alias..When I think of (facial) scars, it reminds me of a slightly creepy picture of Ash with scars I once did..I'm not sure yet..

That's pretty awesome, Cpt. I'd tell you mine, but you'd have to wait for Halcyon to be written. -SPOILERS - just gave Shepard metaphorical kick up the ass and a 'What the hell, hero?', then his 'retirement' turns into a 'ten minute' retirement.
I plan to play with tropes quite a bit on this one. Though I'm not entirely satisfied with how I've written the scene, with -SPOILERS- 'convincing' Shepard to get off his -SPOILERS- and help them.

I exaggerate, but I don't approach gaming the same way as I approach books, for example, not saying that there is anything wrong with doing so, for me it's just a form of light entertainment and the chance to be silly from time to time. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate a good and serious story as the raw material, quite the contrary, but especially Mass Effect offers you the chance to write the story partially yourself and differently every time, but there are limits. To get over 30 unique Shepards, I just had to enhance the experience with the help of my imagination, nothing major, but only small details, like why a certain Shepard does things.
You can play a mean Paragon for example, he is always nice and does always the right things, but his sole motivation to do so, is to be admired for his knightly behaviour, but rather selfish and self-involved in the core, so his facade only crumbles a bit, when people don't approach him with the respect he thinks, he deserves. It doesn't really distinguish him from an honest Paragon Shepard strictly in-game (choices, dialogue, etc.), but it changes the way, I view the character completely, allowing for a whole new experience. It's also the reason, why I don't have as much a problem with the flaws of the games, I just fix them on the fly.
Excuse my rambling, but I take my silliness rather seriously, or do I? ;-)

I got one, made-up as usual.
Ashley as some point in the future (after the Reapers), goes insane or is manipulated into going bad and runs off, Becoming an icon of destruction and Shepard has to stop her. Their 'final mission' together that ends bittersweetly with both of them dying together to taking out the person who screws with Ashley and dies together in a situation where they cannot escape safely. Maybe Ash will sombrely make the comment that '[Shepard] can't order me out of this one'. And they have a long, warm and heartfelt hug as they go out (maybe in flames - well, quite probably in flames), literally in each others arms.
I don't know. I'm trying to get into the mood for writing 'Halcyon', and it ain't working for me at the moment.
