I like the comment 'Shepard is with us'. Ash referred to him as something like a living god among men. Its a stark comment that shows her faith. He has truly become a symbol of humanity, his reputation has accordingly transcended to god-like proportions. He's a icon, more than a man. It just effing sucks that the council wanted to bury his warnings under a veil of skeptism and delusions of insanity.

Actually, that quote is for an alternating reality where Shepard died already. So Ashley refers to him not as a god but as someone who supports them to end the war. Of course we know if Shepard dies the war is lost, but hey - I love epic last stand battles.

Ok, if you don't know much of Walt Whitman this one isn't gonna make a lot of sense probably, but personally, I thoroughly enjoyed writing this blooper.

That night before Ilos...
Shepard sat behind his desk, staring at a blue screen lost in the seemingly hopeless situation, when suddenly  he heard the unmistakeable sound of a door opening, Shepard turned his head towards the sound and  his heart skipped a beat, it was Ashley.

Ashley: "Skipper?"

Shepard: "Don't you think we're a little past titles?"

Ashley: "We had to do this Shepard you know that, *There was a pause* there is no other way, and you'll always be the skipper to me, *again she paused* O Hymen, O Hymenee- eh,No-no, god that's awful! I didn't- ...I meant... never mind, I-I'd better go, before I make things worse."

@Data; If you don't knwo an Ash scene, youtube's your best friend! (unless you're at work, in that case you can still write a scene in a combat scenario perhaps?)

All he knows is how to plan out how to punch and shoot people

Whenever he dances, I bet Ashley is tempted to pull out her boomstick and shoot a few rounds under his feet, Old-west style, to see if that looks any better.

I'm inteested in the dynamic of Ashley and the other ME1 squaddies come ME3. For the most part all of them have incredibly important things going on for them now (Liara's the shadow broker and Wrex leads all the krogan) so maybe they'd have special banter.

My Shepard applied for Mensa... or the 22nd century equivalent high intelligence organisation, he kind of declined. John wasn't exactly the most emotionally 'mature' person when he was younger. He was wreckless and in short an adrenaline junkie.

He only become stoic and serious after he managed to deal with the fallout of Elysium, which I consider the stoicism as him being emotionally distant and hesitant to create any kind of emotional or romantic attachment. He'll flirt with Ash at the beginning and other women some times, but rarely shows anything beyond superficial interest.

Haha. Yeah, Shepard is as good as me when it comes to dancing ... I'm a bad dancer. However, Ashley doesn't seem to mind, at least she's dancing in the flux. Just wish it would last longer than 5 seconds ... and I wanna know what Ashley thinks about Shepard's dancing.

Wonder how the Ash/Liara love-rivary thing will go. I mean, sure Shepard was/is with Ash, but Liara was the one who both 'sold' Shepard to Cerberus and at the same time, being indirectly responsible for bring him back from death. And Liara gave Shepard more help than Ash did during the ME2 timeframe - though I blame bad writing for that.

So Ash might be more adversarial to Liara than she was in ME1.

My Shepard - as mentioned before - was a parkour practicioner as a kid (he kinda learned it from Rox, but still.) He knows how to do all that cool free-running flips, vaults, wallclimbs and that but I'm not sure if that can be translated to a dancefloor...

Hmm, funny thing, I once thought about applying for Mensa. Too bad I'm a lazy person and laziness is stupid so ... no. I'm not member of Mensa *g*

Besides that: yeah, guess so, fits to Shepard. Some event made him to a person that rarely shows any emotion - even towards those he really loves. I think he just needs a special and very passionate woman to find back to his more emotional side. That's Ashley, of course ...

But your canon isn't my canon (even if it's a great base )

In my canon he saved that colony single-handedly (uhhh ... warhero ?) and he saw some of his friends dying, but he was single that time. So now emotional scars for my!Shepard. But yeah, some event made him to an emotionally reserved man who can make everyone's inner fire burning but he doesn't keep some of that fire for himself when it comes to emotions. That's why he needs Ashley.

In my case it's Ashley Obsession. I made my Shepard for her. And gave him a history fitting to Ashley.

(I hate being such a nerd. I'm almost 30, dang!)

My Shepard (Ron) I portrayed him as having a really great family on Mindoir. Middle son of five kids, ok student, stuff like that. His background was crucial to his people saving complex. Or he's just a glutton for pain and getting into trouble.

He has a war hero background too, but hates taking credit for Elysium single handedly. Hates it. Ash gushing over his star of terra... meh.... he locked it up somewhere in a box. Its just metal in his eyes.

Ash keeps him grounded, that's why he likes her. Keeps him in check, and her family reminds him of the one he lost during the raid.

Did I mention he's also horribly insecure? In my person head canon, Ash is the one that gets him out of his depression off camera over everything that's been going on.

Just in case you're interested I can give you bio of my first Shepard. That's the not-so-handsome dude who looks like a starship captain archetype.

However, will take some time. And I'll write it down with "Ashley's comments" and why she loves him.
