I mean I'm choosing to believe it's just the lighting and it's not finished. I've loved everything Bioware has shown so far so I'm not gonna jump the gun on this. And honestly in the demo we saw many months ago, when we saw her on the ship when Shepard jumped on I felt like her skin tone was a little darker anyway.

@Complistic; hmm, indeed, still can't make sense of the fact Vega's skin colour doesn't change along with the light. Well, since it clearly isn't all finished yet, we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Also about the eyes, they seem to be standing a little more open, in the gif you can see eyewhite beneath her iris, which you didn't see in ME1, I believe. That might also be because the facial animations aren't entirely finished.

Aye. I guess it's just the light and maybe there is still some fine tuning missing. Besides the lack of that tiny bit of "hispanic influence", new Ash looks stunning. Dangerously stunning. I couldn't ask her in a bar, not to speak of for a date. Beautiful woman, that's all I can say. That plus her character makes her pretty much perfect - and her flaws make her authentic. God thanks she's just a fictional character ...

Sometimes I really wish I could have a couple of days "alone time" - just to spazz over ME3.

You do understand that a person's racial skin tone, while able to fluctuate within the tones of that racial heritage doesn't CHANGE right?  A black woman who loses her tan doesn't turn white just as a darker skinned Hispanic woman wouldn't turn white either.

Well she's caucasian isn't she?
Anyway, even if her natural skin tone is naturally darker, lighting plays a huge role. It can make a person look tan or very pale and it looks like ME3 has some advanced lighting so I'm sure that's the cause. Either way, I don't mind if she's pale or tan. I'm gay and all but again....the **** looks amazing!

Ashley: "Not since I made Lt. Commander, no."
Shepard: "Not so fast, let me walk you to the armory. Carry those manuals...help you check out some bigger weapons? This new look of yours has obviously been begging for my attention"
Ashley: "Shepard I'm going to say this in the most professional way possbile. Go away."
Shepard: "If I didn't know better I'd think that maybe you weren't exactly happy to see me. And this is my ship, if you don't like having me around it wouldn't be a problem at all for Joker to swing back by Earth and drop you off."
Ashley: "You're not the only one who wants to stop the Reapers, Shepard. Your glib quips are the last thing thing that will force me off the Normandy. And I'm a spectre I can go where I want, remember. Didn't take you for the psycho sensitive type Commander. "
Shepard: "You can't pretend with me Ash. I caught the affection in your voice at HQ. You can take shots at my stripped status all you want. We're not done."
Ashley: "Don't flatter yourself, Shepard. What you heard was a silly nostalgic reaction. And what's you're excuse? Why have you suddenly become hostile?"
Shepard: "I just didn't recongize you at first. You traded in your tight bun and military fatigues for a hairstyle and thigh high boots that don't come close to regulations after all. And I must say it's working for you. If you had worn this on Horizon... And misplaced nostalgia is all you chalk us up to? Really? I am your old Skipper, remember...mocked by the council, cast aside by high command...belittled by his closest friends... beating impossible odds is part of my daily grind. Ashley: Well that's because you already seem to know my friends. They knew that you were here before I did and they didn't warn me. I wonder why that is."
Shepard: "O-kay. Busted. I didn't tell Vega I knew you. I wanted to lay low and soak up some second hand impressions of the Alliance's new double threat. Lt. Ashley: "No you didn't. You didn't miss me. You missed my idiotic willingness to follow you into bed."
Shepard: "Hey, come on. You didn't complain before we landed on Ilos. You make it sound like we never had any fun."
Ashley: "The kind of fun that we had, I don't have anymore; so I don't know what you're hoping to gain by this little trip down memory lane, but it won't get you anywhere."
Shepard: "Ash, it's not that I don't like this whole hip to be square thing you got going on now, I just think we should spend some time together. Alot has changed between us. That's all. So, what do you say?"
Ashley: "No way. Not ever, never gonna happen, Shepard."

Partly probably.  Like many in the ME universe she is of racial ambiguity, a mix of many different backgrounds.  The only hint we've ever had as to her ethnic background was years ago when Chris L'toile mentioned her having "Hispanic" features.

I think it might be a mix of better lighting (ME1 was literally rather dark, and being in space. When you're in artificial lighting and dark placs for long periods of time your skin loses it's tan from being in natural light, now that she's a friggen commander she's in space more often than when she was a gunnery chief and stuck planet side due to her blacklisting.

Shepard was the son of a douche in that one shot. Really, really miffed. I might do one where he comes around a little better though.

Yup. We couldn't hear the earth demo's properly because CHud would talk ove rthem, but Ashley's a Commander now.
