Haha, I go away and this happens!
Damn!
I really hope it'll be a challenge to win her back  - looking forward to flirt with her again - best part, or so I hope...

Bull. I don't want to put her in armor later, I want her in armor from the start. How could they ever think that was a good idea? It's a betrayal of Ashley as a character, turning her into some cheap sex object like Miranda.

The Alliance blues were formfitting too.

I have more an issue with the heel shoes, but maybe she'll crack a joke later about how odd casual/dress Spectre uniforms are.

oh hush. You don't go to a formal meeting in armor, this isn't the middle ages. Women are allowed to look beautiful without being sex objects She's in her formal spectre uniform, she's is a Spectre. She and Kaidan are the only ones who can wear that in the Alliance. She looks beautiful, deal with it.

Why would she be wearing armor to talk to a review board?........

And I don't know if you've noticed but ME3 isn't out yet.  There's no way to tell if they've "betrayed" her character until we watch her actions and speech.  Again, really?  THE OUTFIT is what defines her character?

....Saphra, u trollin' gurl?

I don't know, why is Shepard? Why the silly outfit? Why not put her in an Alliance officer's uniform? Or the same fatigues/combat vest that Shepard is wearing?

Anything but that ****ing catsuit.

I just want to know who bought her dinner.
'If you expect me to get into a tinfoil miniskirt with thigh high boots, I want dinner first! ...sir!'

So, who bought her dinner? Or does Shepard owe her one?

Shepards wearing about as much armor as Ashley is.

We all know you love Ashley, I remember seeing you in here before.

He's not alliance, he's not alliance until anderson tosses him the dog tags and reinstates him as Commander Shepard.

Shepard isn't in armour when talking to the board.

Good question as to why Ashley isn't wearing an Alliance uniform, what Shepard is wearing, or even why she isn't in Alliance dress blues, but *shrug* maybe we'll find out when the demo comes out.

Why the f**k should she waltz around in full combat armor in a non-combat situation? Also, your grasp of what is sexistic or not is rather weak considering you come from a fandom where the most recurring character comment is "dat ass".

She's not in the dress blues cause She's a spectre. She's wearing casual Spectre wear I imagine. Even though guys have to have a uniform, right? I mean the Asari Spectres we face wear the same model armor, though in different shades of blue or purple.

Shepards wearing about as much armor as Ashley is.

Um yeah.  Shepard is wearing a form fitting, casual, NON-ARMORED outfit.  He has a f*cking desk job right now for chrissake.  He's not gonna put on his ablative plating.....

NO ONE is wearing armor.  Vega is in a friggin T-SHIRT.

Also that is NOT a skirt.  It's a jacket.  Over pants.

I'm not the one who coined that phrase. The fandom is indeed atrocious. That's why I treat everyone the way I do. They deserve nothing less.

Put her in an Alliance uniform, she is still an Alliance offer. Don't put her in high heels and an open top, don't put her in a skirt.

It's not like that is casual clothing either. It is obviously meant for combat. It has the weapon attachment lights on the back and the armor on the shoulders (and in a few other places). It is obviously combat armor.

It's stupid and you are deluding yourself if you think she didn't wear combat armor to that meeting.

If she's going to wear armor then give her REAL armor. Give her back her old armor if you can't just give her a female version of Kaidan's.

Wanna bet that Kaidan wears his combat armor to that meeting?

Yes he is! Did you see the vest he is wearing? Are you blind or what?

I do like Ashely, but now she's gotta die. It's tragic. I never wanted it this way. At least she'll get the honorable death she deserves and redeem her family name.

"Ashley, I'm sorry but your outfit dictates that you must die."

"But why?"

"Because I have too much time on my hands and often frequent a fandom I admittedly dislike so I can call people deluded and bline and make me feel better about myself."

"I understand."

"At least someone does."

I suppose if you're going to kill Ashley off or you have no use for her or you'd like to judge something that hasn't even happened yet you can go ahead and do so.  That means you won't be frequenting this thread anymore right?

Why does she have to die? She's become a Spectre and Lieutnanat Commander. Her name is far more than redeemed now! Why does she have to die?

It's not armor she's wearing. Sure it may look like armor plates on her shoulders but its a jacket and pants she's wearing as part of her casual attire. Ash has - and Casey confirmed - a female version of Kaidan's armor for combat. Why in hell would she wear armor in her own military's HQ? For a meeting with a bunch of headhonchos. Shepard isn't wearing armor either. Sure his jacket/vest is differently designed than the rest of the Alliance, but that's because he's a convict in protected custody working a deskjob.

They are not wearing armor. And you have to be blind if you don't understand that.

Hey guys, let's try to tone down the hostility a little bit. He has the perfect right to express his opinion and object to the new outfit, and even though I don't agree with him completely (I'm certainly not about to kill Ashley off over it) let's just try to keep our responses civil.
Though I admit that goes for you too Saphra, could you not swear as much?

Truthfully I do object to Ashley's outfit, I mean on an aesthetic level I like it because it looks nice but I still think it doesn't really do much justice to the pretty tomboy I met in Mass Effect 1 to have her be wearing what looks like spandex and high heels and patterns on her legs that resemble garters.
All I'm saying is, it does look a bit ridiculous when she's standing alongside other Alliance officers who are just wearing standard uniforms.
And even if Bioware manage to write some kind of contextual canonical way to have it make sense I'll still criticise them for making that context. Because much like with the movie Sucker Punch, the context was made to justify having girls in sexy outfits... not the other way around.

I still like Ashley enough that I'm ready to overlook this, however, and instead try to accept it as stylish and sexy. If I can put her in armor as well then I'll be content. Plus so far at least we've seen no evidence of the game being exploitative and cheesy about it (like it was with Miranda) with stupid camera angles hanging over Ashley's anatomy.
Plus if Mass Effect really is unavoidably heading towards the 'iconic superhero looks' for all of it's characters, Ashley's is still less sexualized then say, Miranda or Samara in terms of design. I know 'not AS sexualized' isn't really a great argument to defend from when it should really be 'not sexualized at all'.
But still as it stands we've gotten a promise that Ashley will have armor, it's not AS sexualized as gaming women usually are and so far she doesn't seem to be being exploited. Also I can't deny I don't like the look in and of itself while also kind of objecting to it in and of itself.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how she turns out in the full game. It's too early to make many judgements, though we can still certainly express our opinions on how it is currently.

Um, if you LIKED Ashley you wouldn't kill her outside of Virmire for a Kaidan playthrough, the fact that you think she needs to die for a CASUAL OUTFIT thet reveals none of her sex organs is not something someone would say if that loved ashley.

If you look, other people are wearing similar clothing as Shepard. Looks like a standard casual thing to me. Might as well be khakis and a damn button down shirt.

But no. I'm sorry, ASH is the one not wearing armor. My mistake.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion.  I don't care if people like or dislike an OUTFIT.  That's silly.  But why be so freakin' hostile about it?  Jeez....

honestly, looking at her outfit now,it needs 2 very simple things to make it loog good instead of silly. just 2.

1. a turtleneck, to wear under the jacket, ala the turlenecks for other alliance uniforms.
2. color that patch of white - blue.

and suddenly it looks like modified version of alliance blues. such simple changes.

well - the good thing is soon enough, someone will figure out a text mod or something to do just that, if bioware doesn't

as far as alliance casual dress - we can kinda see the way people are dressing in that very spoiler video.  and other then higher detailing neither BDU's nor dress blues seems to have changed much.

Besides, how long has it been since we've seen the alliance? Nearly 3 years in game. They're casual dress has probably changed hence why they all look different to ME1 casual dress.

it's not Allianc ethough, it's Spectre. There's no Alliance logo, only the Spectre. She's humanity's Spectre so she dresses like it.
