White pants, black thigh-high boots.  Or a really bizarre color scheme for pants.;)

She went from a Chief Master Sergeant to Lt Commander in 3 years? Holy crap, someone at the top of the command chain must've been pulling strings like a puppetmaster.

Or maybe she blew up a bunch of Cerberus bases or wrapped up alot of the "plotholes" from ME1. She found armistine Banes! :D

That's a pathetic reason driven simply by your personal opinion and dislike for a geniunely good character which you have admited to disliking. I think Garrus has a stupid outfit? Does that mean he has to die? I think that Jacob's jumpsuit is silly, does that mean he has to die? I think Miranda is too over-sexed and her outfit should be more than a catsuit, and I have an intense dislike of her character as well. Does that mean she has to die as well?

Using your twisted logic, most of the people in every game I play should die. That hardly makes sense to me.

Everyone can have their own opinion on whether or not they like someone's outfit.  Taste is relative.  I HATED the outfits of Thane, Miranda, Samara and Jack but those characters are so great I don't give a crap what they wear (at most it was a passing eyeroll and then the suspension of disbelief kicked in).  And I'm certainly not going to miss out on great story, character or even a whole game because I dislike what the artists chose to put the characters in.  If the characters were NOTHING but what they wore Bioware would have failed.  But that's not the case.  So chill, folks.  It is not that serious.

I actually have a "You should've worn armor b****." import ready. The only survivors were Grunt, Garrus, Zaeed Tali and Legion.

This is brilliantn and hilarious.  :)

Also she was Gunnery Chief, a rank that in real life she never would have achieved.  Alliance rankings are different from real life military standings.

But yes, I agree there was some placating and pulling of strings.  Most likely by Anderson as well as the rest of the brass who now had another human darling to be SpecTRe.  I have no doubt that expedited some of her advancement, not to mention the fact that she was totally overdue for it anyway.

AD don't be silly.  NO ONE has found Armiston Banes.  :P

You know what? Screw it. I'm just not going to argue anymore. I've got better things to do then wonder if Ashley's new outfit 'suits' her or not.

Sounds like a cop out, it's not. I'm just washing my hands of this before I make a bad situation worse.

Pants with knee pads. Her outfit it lightly armored it seems. Shoulders, knees, hips it seems, and her weapons fit on her back since she puts her AR on her back when the Normandy pulls away from AndersonPosted Image

P.S.  no, those are actualy boots.  her pants for whatever werid reason are white >_>

Not perfect.  But much better.  Still hate the boots, but replace with slacks, would be wonderful.

@ADL, you never really do find out who that 'Banes' guy is, do you? At least, you never meet him ingame...

I think they did a good job of visually showing how much she's (probably) changed in the 3 years since ME1.

Idea for a conversation:

Shepard: Want any hints from the Spectre pioneer?
Ash: You died, remember?
Shepard: Watch it....

Oh as for the previous question about why Ash looks so white, I asked the cinematic designer Ken Thain on twitter whether that was lighting or if they'd decided to make her skin lighter and he had this to say:

@Badpie24 I can only assume lighting. We have fantastic improvements that were in progress of polishing.

Just FYI.

Chill! Bashing on the outfit is just a quick and cheap way for some (not all!) to "proof" how "deep and mature" they are, though in some cases, the way they present their criticism, sadly contradicts that notion.
Most of those people are more worried about their image of the character rather than the character, which seems to be very selective. She has never been a stereotypical tomboy, she has always been more complex than that.
I have no problem with people, who simply don't like the outfit, I neither love it nor hate it myself, just with the conclusions some people draw and the rather clownesque face of the debate, but then again clowns can be quite sexy, too..
(cue circus music, taste of popcorn and smell of horse manure)

edit: I can't believe, the thread jumped over a page, since I started typing this. I guess the BSN is just the nerds' 'vanity fair' now. Fashion is the hottest topic :D

Just completely random, does Mass Effect remind you of the movie 'Titan AE' (if any of you have seen). I don't know, maybe it's the ship. The whole mentoring relationship thing between two of the characters or the smartass main character. But something about ME reminds me of that movie. And cause Ash reminds me of Akima. :P

Does that hold true to anyone else?

Indeed that does look a lot better. Enough that if she looked like I might not kill her. However she is still wearing high heels. It's for her own safety that she be killed off. I don't want her to sprain an ankle or trip when she's walking on grating.

I can see a correlation between Gune and Mordin, but I'm not seeing a real comparison.

Thank you for insulting my sexual orientation. I would like to inform you that I am a woman myself and do rather enjoy her outfit.

I am not a shallow person either.

No problem, sweetie. Any time you need to be taken down a peg just PM me and we can talk.

You say you like the character Ashley, but you want to dress her up like she's a barbie doll. She is anything but. The idea is ludicrous.

Aurora313 wrote...

...we have absolutely no idea how Ashley has changed over the three years we don't see her, aside from that accident on Horizon.

She has also claimed that she had to 'bury alot of things' to get herself to the position she is in now.

Which means what, that suddenly she softened up, stopped being a marine, and became a glamour girl? Once a marine always a marine, isn't that the saying? It's something like that. I don't believe for a moment Ashley has changed enough to completely remake herself. In the unlikely event that she has... then I no longer care about her. It'd be almost as bad as Liara. She is hardly recognizable in that outfit. That means she isn't the character I came to like and respect.

Anyway, dspite what people may think, Ashley is still a COMMANDER, Spectre outfit or not. Plus Ashley's wearing that, with ARMOR and Vega nad sheaprd are just wearing shirts and pants. yet Shepard goes through a friggen combat mission with no armor yet no one's complaining about that.

That outfit isn't her combat suit.  She doesn't have to be battle-ready in it, so heels in this case should be acceptable.

What it does need to be is appropriate to wear while attending a hearing with a bunch of admirals.

Because death is totally preferable to twisting an ankle. I know the only reason I'm still alive is because I always sprain my ankle when I just happen to not be near any sharp objects.

@AD That's because Shepard's bad-ass pretects him/her more than any armor ever could

I still don't quite understand the 'she should be killed off cause her outfit doesn't suit her thing'. You could away wait and see if she has some alternate casual outfit...

But I'm not going to argue because it will make a troublesome situation far more turbulent and quite frankly, I believe that it's been discussed, everyone cannot agree and further argument will not force agreement. So, why bother? Our opinions all differ about it and there is nothing more to it. It needlessly wastes time and energy that could be spent debating other things or on other subjects.

I'm fairly sure you can change her into armour once you escape the Reaper invasion. Even better, the Special Edition pack thingy has it in pink. PINK!

Yes, it is. Look at the shoulders, the thighs, and the knee pads. It is a combat suit. You are fooling yourself if you think otherwise. I guarantee you in that scene Kaidan will be in that full armor suit we've seen in promo images. This is Ashley's equivalent of that.

The one from the CE edition was white and red, surely that's what he means...
