I have a question, regarding her in ME1.

Given the advent of s/s now, I didn't think that was possible (except with Liara). However, I did see them romance during ME1 (on youtube) and am wondering how was that possible since s/s wasn't allowed and then to hear her mention that "they had something" in ME2.

I'm not trying to be funny because she's a possible option for me in ME3, but how'd anyoe get to that point in the first game?

It's done by modding. I'm not sure if it can only be done with the PC version, or if the 360 can be nodded the same way too.(never tried with my 360)

As much as I agree and hope the game does not do this, I am afraid it will.  Simply because, if they got back together early, where would it go from there?  Like a dog chasing a car, what's the dog going to do once you catch up to it.  As Ash fans WE could all think of where we'd like to see the relationship progress to (engaged or something), but many players would probably think that silly.  There are really only two scenarios I see play out:

In ME2 standard formula of the build romantic a bit ... boring. No, actually very boring. Besides, if you remained faithful to Ash, it would be really strange that the two are aware of the issue and delay its decision.
And I hope there will be more thoughtful and in-depth conversations like in ME1.

I'll also share my opinion on a possible Ash s/s romance in ME3.

To me, Ashley is just a 'bro' character for my Shepard and she'll want to keep it that way. I'm assuming that if there will be Ash s/s content that it will be optional and PC initiated. So...when I play ME3, I'll just go on ignoring the flirt options and avoid prompting the romance...simples. It would be no different from how I treated Garrus in ME2...I knew he was an 'option' but I never pursued it...so we just went on staying 'bros' and stuff.

That said, I don't quite understand the backlash from making Ash available for FemShep as a romance...I support it totally even if I would never pursue it with my Shepard, who will just remain friends with the newly appointed Lieutenant. In my headcanon, Ash would remain uninterested in my Shepard...same as Garrus in ME2.

It's a shame others can't use the same rational thinking.
Afterall, it shouldn't change anything, storywise, unless the player chooses to do so.

I still won't ever understand why she couldn't say this face-to-face. I was really pissed at her, but I'll ease up. She's still gotta score some brownie points with me though.

Put yourself in her shoes. The person she loved, someone who she can reveal all of her secrets, and the person who made her "feel good enough"; who was KIA and sent her life into a spiral, suddenly is two feet in front of her alive and well after two years. She presumed that Shep was alive all this time and they didn't tell her anything. So suddenly she feel betrayed. Then to put salt on the wound Shep is working for terrorists. And by the time Shep explains to her that he was dead and he just woke up from comotose she is so mad that she won't hear any of it. I was never mad at her. Actually by the end of the Horizon conversation I was mad at Shep. I mean come on after two years the only thing he can come up with is "Hey Ash it's been too long." I was suprised Ash didn't punch Shep in the jaw right then and there.

We all say things in the heat of the moment that aren't necessarily the most well thought out things.  I guarantee you five minutes after Shepard leaving Ash felt like an ass and pretty much thought exactly what she wrote in her email.
