Omega - I'd prefer not getting spoiled. Yeah, that's bad if you really want to know the stuff (I do know only the first half or so), but it's simply not worth it. Believe me. :-(

I don't want to know anything else. Just the fate of the VS and the twist they're involved in. And ONLY that.

Brain sent you some stuff.
Just keep it secret ... it doesn't fit here. Feel free to PM for more talk 'bout that stuff if you want, I had a long dialogue with Mega sorting things out. So if you need to know some details, I do have some.

Thank you for the info. Got it, read it, nothing to talk about. Just keep pressing on until March.

What, more spoilers than we've seen today? About VS, I mean. Someone send me PM, please.
I have nothing to fear :pinched:

Nah, I referred to the beta-thing getting out, as the first thing Reed missed. Luckily there haven't been anymore spoilers then there already have been today.

I'm worried it will be cannon what happens in ME3 in the next Mass effect now (this doesn't count as spoiler does it? As I'm not actually mentioning what happens)

I have hopes Bioware changed it long ago, but this makes me worried now that Bioware are slipping. I dont know if I will want anymore Bioware games after getting treated like my choices are the wrong ones, regardless I'm sticking with Ash, I dont care if it even means I get the worst ending, as the worst ending for me is finishing the game without the VS.

Well thankfully I still have Bethesda and Skyrim will make my week better, Friday cant come sooner. I was really happy yesterday with everything I've seen of ME3, now I'm so dissapointed I find it hard to believe. I should have expected it.

Yeah, guess that's what most people feeling right now. I won't go any deeper than that, but just in case you want to know my oppinion about the leaked stuff, feel free to PM me. I have plenty of time today for the next 4 hours, so ...

Lets keep the case closed in this thread. I'm just sad a lot of good guys abandoned this thread because of these spoilers. That will make this thread far less entertaining and most likely will stall its progress ... bad thing :crying:

Nah I'm cool, I will just leave it at that, I just needed a little venting to do, no point dragging everyone else down too. Lets move on, Ash is still my favourite videogame character, if I had to choose Ash or Shepard Ash would still be the one living, no matter what pathetic crap Bioware try to pull.

BW will obviously declare some kind of canon ending to ME3.  I can't believe anyone ever really thought otherwise.

They require a stable backdrop to build any future titles on.  I know when ME1 dropped they promised, and probably intended, for all choices to have a huge effect on the story.  But as time went on, they realized that they'd bitten off more than they could chew.

Yes I know we will have a canon ending, but I've got a feeling we'll bump into Liara in the next Mass Effect, and we will know what happened to Ash then Posted Image I probably wont play Mass Effect 4 just becuase of this.

I hate quoting myself, especially since it has nothing to do with the Ashley-thread - but still, just for the record:

Yes, they didn't do the math ...

CptData wrote...

But
the things that ME1 promised; the choices with big effects, the
personalized character, the "change the galaxy", the "its your
story".....those things might as well be dead.

I still look
forward to playing as Shepard, the defined character, and completing the
defined story. I can still choose my appearance and class, and romance,
at the very least. And at least one choice does matter, Virmire, as
everyone knows.

Removed large portions of your post for the very essence I'd like to talk about.

The
main reason why the entire decisions-thing doesn't work is lack of
resources. There are two resources BW needs to check for: time and
money. Both is not infinite, both is given by EA. And EA isn't known for
patience and if they think a project is no longer profitable, they'll
cut it. They don't care really about their fans, all they want is to
sell games and profits. No problem with that.

Lets do the math:

Say
we have two big decisions in ME that will have major influence on ME2
(and indirectly on ME3), something like this is going to happen:

ME-base-storyline ----> major decision (Virmire survivor)

Virmire survivor Ashley ----> major decision (Council lives) ----> ME2
Virmire survivor Ashley ----> major decision (Council dies) ----> ME2
Virmire survivor Kaidan ----> major decision (Council lives) ----> ME2
Virmire survivor Kaidan ----> major decision (Council dies) ----> ME2

We'll
have four outcomes. Even if all of those for outcomes lead to the same
starting point in ME2, they're still 4 different storylines as soon as
their influence starts to work.
The more big decisions you have, the
more parallel story arcs you'll get. Even if you have only two major
decisions in ME2 you'll end up with 16 outcomes for ME2-story in worst
case. Worst case means that every single storyline is so different from
the others you can't reuse parts of it or bring them together again to a
"keypoint".

ANY of those possible storylines need to be written
down, you need dialogues for each storyline, need scripts, CGI-movies
and whatever you want. Resulting in (worst case) 16 different storylines
and every single one cost as much as an entire game.

See the
problem? As long as you have to develop every potential reality in ME,
as long it's not possible. It COULD be possible if you reduce the main
story to just a couple of keypoints and let the computer develop the
connecting ways instead of doing them by hand. But currently there's no
engine known being able to do that without looking cheap (random
generated missions) compared to the manmade missions.
Just think of
those assignments in ME. Compared to the main story they're quite cheap.
Kill everyone in warehouse ABC on planet DEF in system XYZ. Obtain
object X in warehous XYZ on planet ABC in system DEF. I'm sure only a
few players want to go down that road.

Right now it's not
possible to have a fully developed storyline in an universe you can
change by your decisions. Maybe some day, maybe that's the day when BW
decides to reboot the ME franchise to do exactly that. But that's a day I
don't see come within next 10 years.

Enough wall of text. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/angel.png[/smilie]

Exactly, I feel like the ME universe is over for me after this story, unless they won't go into Shepard and Co anymore and place it perhaps a great many years in the future or in the past.

and the rest of you raise some good points, it was probably unrealistic to think they would really let your choices affect the game dramatically, as long as some decisions from the previous games'll matter somewhat I think I'll be pleased.

All the stuff, all the spoilers make Ashley sad. Really sad.

Gawd ... this day was sh*t. I don't mind the spoilers, but losing some friends because of that is just awful. Really. Worst. Day. For. A. Long. Time. At least in the internet.

I think they just need time, they'll be back. We need to move on though and stop discussing the spoilers I guess. I admit it's dramatic, I like that, but the way it's done is just terrible, and that it's the VS thrown to the wolves yet again. But here I go about it again *sign*

Okay, we just know some (and incomplete) stuff about the major storyline (in an early stage) but none about the assignments. Maybe there you can make a difference - whatever. I won't go further into that.

Lets keep up the mood, guys. I love Ashley. I will go through hell to save her and to see the happy end with her at my side. Doesn't matter what the universe throws at Shepard and her, either they're together at the end, or none of them lives. There's nothing between these two outcomes. Shepard lives and so does Ashley, and the galaxy is save, or Ashley dies and Shepard sacrifices himself for the galaxy.

That's the plan. Now make it happen!

And Funkcase I can only simply agree with that post.

Also let's keep in mind there are still touching moments between Shepard and Ashley! Not the least of which the Romance! The most important thing to me now is, that they keep Ash as a character intact, that we'll have amazing convo's again, poetry and fun talks...Ash has never been just a serious person, I'm sure we'll experience more then just drama with her!

Lets hope that. If that's coming true I'll be happy. All I want is my f*cking happy end (sorry for that word). I mean, we all deserve a happy end, it doesn't matter who's our LI, am I right?

Ashley and Shepard. My OTP. They'll stay together, either in life or in death. 'nuff said.

Agreed, she's a sarcastic, tough, family loving, poetry quoting, party girl who likes to let Shepard know how corny his chat up lines are ''Tell me you didn't get that out of a fortune cookie?'' ''You are totally shamless, you need your own line of greeting cards'' LOL!

I hope Ash is still Ash and not so serious all the time too, whilst showing maturity at the same time. I hope when they say she's more mature they dont really mean ''We cant write epic characters like Chris L'etoile so we just changed her''

She keeps my Shepard grounded. Without Ashley he'd fall apart because he couldn't take all the sh*t happening around him.

Ashley is worth it. Because she makes Shepard "feeling happy". And he makes her "feeling good enough". They're both hard to get, but if they allow each other to go through their hardened outsides, they'll find true love.
