Well, as I said, my Shepard likes playing the guitar, games or keeping Ash happy in his downtime.

He's a tactically brilliant man, but he has quite a few weaknesses, one of which was pointed out - he's a recovering Red-Sand Junkie. I find that when studying some people (most of them fictionaal, but still realistic) their systems are no longer 'dependant' on drugs to function, but there is always a voice in their head craving for one more hit. My Shepard had been clean for about 8 or so years at the start of ME1, and for Jonathan? It wasn't easy. He tries to supplant one addiction with another- the second being guinness - but in the end, it's gonna cause more problems for him than solve.

Not quite sure how Ashley would react if she heard about this. Especially considering the circumstances of his addictions.

Hmm, nah, my Shepard has not such history. He's no junkie, but he tends to drink high quality alcohol from time to time. His addiction is activity and pc gaming (which is funny - usually both hobbies don't get well along). His current addiction is Ashley - he simply love to have her around. Also gives him some confidence when dealing with his inner demon - the very one that could drive Shepard over the edge once Ashley is gone.

Lets put it this way: Shepard needs Ash to stay "normal".

My Shepard, as stoic as he is, is dependant on his ties with others to maintain himself as a sane individual. He's got a lot of ghosts, lot of dead on his conscience and tries to scrape it away with friendship and alcohol.

Okay, that seems to apply on my Shepard as well. He needs his friends like Joker or Chakwas to stay intact. His friends are the reason why he's still fighting, but so is also Ashley. Lets say he loses all of them, Shepard couldn't work anymore. He simply would give up because he's entirely defeated; his crew and his friends are the most important things in his life. Besides them he has no family (Earthborn) or only loose bonds to the rest of his family (Spacer / Colonist).

The only 'family' my Shepard is close to is Rox Pierce, and only cause they - one: Trained together and two: Became Spectres together to hunt down Saren (happens in Duet Effect. Still working on fine tuning). Even then, the most 'affection' they display is cursing at each other in Gaelic and endless criticism.... Oh yea, and Ash+Rox Rivalry is hilarious.

Ash, I've died once already, and got close nearly a dozen times over. My stubborn confidences boarders on downright, suicidial stupidity. I know that, and I accept that. I fight for what I know is truth, to protect the ignorant who'd rather shove their fingers in their ears and bury their heads in the sand. I get their hesistation. I really do. If I hadn't seen what I have, I'd probably dismiss it as somoene''s random doomsday proclimaion. I'm not fighting for myself Ash. II was just for me at first. But now, things are different. We are different. We started this thing as fellow marines, grew to friends and became lovers. I love you Ash, and I'm fighting for you.

The best thing about Ash+Rox rivalry is - Ash doesn't believe Shepard is all hers. And Roxanna seems to enjoy the bickering, so ... stuff happens.

The only reason Ashley would die is if you picked Kaiden as VS. Sorry to say for all my Shepards Kaiden is mass effects version of a "Star Trek Red Shirt Character" dead, dead, dead.

Poor Kaidan. I like him. But there can be only one VS and in my case it's Ashley in all of my playthroughs. I simply can't leave her behind. She's too awesome.

So do I, But Ashleys got more character in ME1 than Kaiden. Though I'm hoping there's more to him in ME3. I will most likely use the ME2 Genesis dlc to see what he's like in ME3.

Lemme say it this way: I left Ashley on Virmire only once. When I saw her dying it felt wrong - a really awful feeling in my belly. So I reloaded the ENTIRE level and saved her. That's somehow "cheating", I know, and I also had a bad feeling in my guts for leaving Kaidan in that playthrough, but not as bad as with Ashley.

So currently there's no Shepard with virmired Ashley right now. I dunno if I can do this any time soon.

They're both soldiers, so nowadays I never feel bad leaving them behind. it's not like you say on the comm. "I hate you so you're not coming with me" in fact they insist on saving the other and chastise you for saving them sine the ohter one is more important to them,

I know what you're trying to say. Still I care for Ash.

Maybe that's one of the reasons why I never was in an army. I guess I'm simply a pathetic soldier. Besides that ... German Army? No thanks.

Same for me, I could never bring myself to leave Ashley on virmire, but I can make that choice with the Genesis dlc (Just).

Well, I'm sure it's more difficult for some than others. I just felt like I was missing out on Kaidan's character by choosing Ash at Virmire all the time and I was right. so now I alternate 50/50 on who gets chosen.

Yeah, I think I simply need to force myself to save Kaidan for at least one time. He deserves this, especially since I like him. Either he'll become best friend to a m!Shep - or a LI for a f!Shep. Dunno yet. He just deserves one playthrough. Maybe I'll do one before ME3 gets released - or after I finished my canon!Shepard.

Lol. It seems crazy, but even in Genesis I can't kill her. When I think that her mother and her sisters left without their 'big sis'. It's just stronger than me, ugh...
Although Kaidan is a great guy. I'm always sorry that he died.

I've tried everything else in ME1 (All classes, Liara LI, Female Shep and Custom Male/Female Shep) and in ME2 all the LI for male shep (didn't really like playing with default female shep or custom Male/Female shep).

By far my no 1 Shepard in Default male, Solider, Spacer, Sole survivor, Ashley LI, Every mission, every planet, every weapon, every dlc in ME1 and ME2 completed.
Kaiden is the last step I have to take to be complete for ME3

Just posted info on the james vega thread of a new james vega screenshot on ME3 oficial site. Man the detail is 10x better that the beta release. When are we going to get some images of this detail with Ashley?

Seems like an awesome dude though, so that can be overlooked. I thought he looked decently textured in the leak. To me he doesn't look too different there.

but you couldn't see that he had scars across his face. Much better detail. Funny how thats just been put up at almost the same time as all of the beta leak videos have been taken of youtube.
