I don't think it is a skirt. It looks like she has thigh high boots over black leather/rubber (?) type pants and a jacket.

What the heck did you do to Ashley?!?!?!

High heels, light armor and a skirt (or what looks like one!).

Ashley is a serious soldier, you wouldn't see her in anything less then Heavy Armor and practical shoes.

And now, the Lightly Armored Kaiden has more armor then she does!

I really like Ashley and WAS looking forward to getting back together with her in ME3, but if this is how she dresses, I'm going to be too annoyed to look at her.

Thank you Bioware, for taking one of my favorite characters and giving me a strong reason not to play with her.

Wow, I thought that would never happen!

To me it looks more like a mini-dress over black tights and boots. The length and silhouette is all wrong for a jacket, and normally with a jacket/pant combo you have your jacket coordinated with your pants. That just looks like dark stockings or tights to me.

And even if she's got pants on under, it's still a skirt and garter straps on over it (which makes even less sense).

Looks like Bioware is over trying to hide Ash and Kaidan's Spectre status. They didn't even TRY to blur the Spectre symbol this time!

sigh the worst part is I don't hate the armour itself, on and adept or engineer I'd like it. On Ashley it looks stupid especially when you see her standing between two heavily armoured men.

Pffft, anyone who hates the armor is just scared of change.

It's annoying but I can live with it. I just wish they made her DLC costume like Miranda's DLC one to keep everyone happy. Instead we get one that's even more ridiculous.

While that may not have been my first choice for Ashley's outfit in the game, I think saying it ruins her character or anything to be something of a hyperbolic statement. Also, I don't think she has high heels in that. It looks sort of like what might be fancy Alliance clothing for special occasions or roles or something.

Don't be pessimistic, guys.
I haven't lost hope that they will make her usual heavy armor for fighting. Colors of this^ costumes look like the Phoenix Armor, only without the pink.

Ash doing a covert Spectre op in that outfit - yeah, I can totally buy that; Ash going into battle in it, when the freaking Reapers are taking over the galaxy and repurposing all sapient spacefaring life - are you kidding me? And that hair, potentially blocking a good part of her vision field? What happened to the no-nonsense soldier who liked sensitive stuff but could drill you between the eyes from a hundred meters? I dig the new hairdo, Ash looks really beautiful, but when the chips fall down, she's a soldier, the bun would be much more appropriate on a battlefield. I really want the option to switch between the two. And I sure hope this (or the blue suit) is not the armor CH had in mind when he confirmed Ash getting an armor.

Gah, the wait for March'12 is making my head spin.

Also, am I completely imagining things, or did Ash have a conversation in which she says she likes good thick armor, or something to that effect?
