Na, actually, Shepard's emotions are a bit odd. Just sometimes they fit to the situation and don't look like "bad acting".
Ashley comes with a far better choice of emotions to pick from.

Anyway, I FINALLY figured out what bugs me about the "new" Ash.
It's the goddamn eyebrows, man. They must have been overtweaked when they gave her a new skin texture.

If we're allowed to modify Ashley's face via mod, I'll do it, if not, I can live with her "feminine brows". What bugs me more is her slightly adjusted nose ...

Taste is subjective after all. However you do have to admit she is different. The nose was changed rather drastically, she has on makeup now (speaking of which has any squadmate we have ever had aside from kasumi wear makeup?) and her hair is down.
Even at a glance it doesn't look the same to me.

Actually, we all need to see an Ashley with facial expressions. The leaked beta lacked any expressions / most expressions can be considered as WIP.
I'd love to see her bun again. Ash is not Ash without her epic bun.

Dunno if I heard it before or if it's just a rumor: you can give Ashley not only a specific armor / appearance but also change her hair style. If that's possible I'll go for Ashley's epic bun - or ponytail. Open hair is not really working in combat. Miranda's hair ... is too perfect because genetically engineered

Not sure about the hair, but the devs have "confirmed" that ashley gets armor that is apparently similar to kaidan's armor. I say confirmed because we have no proof, no images, and no way to judge how similar said armor is actually going to be to kaidan's armor.

Hmm, I was mostly looking at those two images for comparison to your's about the eyebrow thing.
Doesn't look that much more make-up to me. The images you used seem to have all a rather strong reddish light, that might give a wrong impression to be too plastic, which I also see in the pictures you provided. But clearly you have put more time into this, so I don't feel the need to argue with you, since I haven't seen much Ashley material from the new game myself and what I have seen, I like, though it has changed, but as I said so apparently has the look of default Shepard, too. Me, I am looking forward to play the game and have some fun, not pick every little detail apart. But whatever floats your boat.
