Great job, especially on asking Tennyson..I'd love to hear her cite the full piece! Hope it works out, I wonder has anyone ever asked before? If not, why didn't think of it sooner!

Graphic designer here and I think that's a pretty good job, I hate doing layouts etc. I dont see any orphans and it's laid out nicely and it's clear.

Is her armour suppose to be more pink or is it cos it's uploaded as CYMK in JPEG?

It was Aurora who said my first magazine page wasn't that good. I reviewed it but still ... not perfect. Whatever, I guess today magazines fail when it comes to design.

So, now we need that group *fg*

@ZombieGeisha - I recolured Ashleys armor to be more pink (phoneix armor)

@D3MON-SOVER3IGN - I use Adobe CS4 I created all the elements then put it all togther using
layers

Now this is my opnion not trying to undermine anyone elses but I think as a guy who hasnt done it before, you did pretty good, actually better than good so pat youself on the back. If I showed you my first magazine cover, oh my it was bad, looked like a 10 year old had done it! I'll stick to the old variant cos it's nearly there.

All I would do is get rid of the two type blocks at the bottom and use the two at the top to say what the main article is about. The banner is really good by the way, clear and it sticks out.

These things always take a few altered attempts. My rule is, stick to 3 colours maximum (not inc, black) and space is your friend. Just be clear and precise with your info and your good to go!

By the way - I think I used a german magazine as base. They look like that. Nice to know our designers do as good as ten year old kids. I knew it. And their writers are five or so

It is really good so keep at it! Oh no, I meant mine looked like a 10 year old had done it, it was so bad. I'll try and find it and post it, my first attempt at a cover. I used Comic Sans, nearly got killed by my teacher.

My writing is so bad on here, I'm sorry

For any techincal/gaming magazines you need info on the cover etc or people wont buy it.


Some of favourite artists/designers are from Germany.

Last Ashley-Dialogue for today (it is FREE of spoilers)

Mordin: Willams. Good to see you.
Ashley: Hey Mordin. Anything new on Shepard? Last time I saw him Chakwas told he's in a severe condition.
Mordin: Yes, indeed. Found out how to remove parts of Cerberus tech. Can not be used to harm Shepard anymore. Still problem with his brain. No control chip, but greybox.
Ashley: He got a greybox?
Mordin: Indeed. Greybox. Illegal device in Citadel space. Interesting. It was made 2183.
Ashley: Wait a moment. That greybox isn't part of that stuff Cerberus put into Shepard's body?
Mordin: Negative. Greybox was already part of Shepard before he died. Research needed. What happened 2183?
Ashley: No idea. John never talked about his last assignment before he got transferred to the Normandy.
Mordin: Okay. Not good. Need to find out why Shepard uses a greybox. At least it explains how he survived his own dead. Wasn't really dead. Not sure if Shepard knows about his little secret.
Ashley: Yeah, you're right. If he knew about it, why didn't he told me? After all ... we were friends.
Mordin: More than that according to Mr. Moreau. However, evidence found greybox got added while Shepard was part of N7 team. Some details are unknown. Maybe secret mission? Greybox could be used to log the mission. Useful for mission summary in case of subject's death. STG used a similar tech few hundred years ago.
Ashley: Okay, okay, stop, Mordin. How does that help? 
Mordin: We know how Shepard survived own death.
Ashley: That's what I've got. Anything else?
Mordin: The greybox was used on a secret mission. Blocked memories. Seem to cause cerebral damage over time. Therefore patient partly lost brain function, causing cascade failure ...
Ashley: Mordin ... short variant please. I ... we need John back as soon as possible.
Mordin: Impossible. Need to get rid of greybox - or free blocked memories. Shepard need do it on his own - or he needs someone familiar helping. Good idea. Not enough time to test both.
Ashley: Then it's up to me. How to do it?
Mordin: Also impossible without a greybox in your own brain. Could construct an external greybox but will take time.
Ashley: How long?
Mordin: Two weeks.
Ashley: We don't have two weeks. I'll give you four days.
Mordin: Do it in two.
Ashley: Thanks you, Mordin. I owe you one.
Mordin: Subject still in danger. Attempt could kill Shepard. Need to be carefully.
Ashley: Sure, Mordin, do whatever you have to. Just bring Skipper back ... please ...

Well the group's up, see a few posts above, putting it in OP would be lovely!

I'm not sure if it's a great idea to post everything here, in case we have long winded discussions about what should actually be in the mag or lay-out, plus it's hard to keep up with in a thread, more organised in a group. Maybe posting updates here whenever we've got something might be a better idea? So the thread can give feedback or something like that.

I wondered how Shepard survived his own death. I mean, isn't it that you have just four minutes to revive someone before brain got damaged too much? Shepard was in space for more than just four minutes and even entered a planet's athmosphere. In that case the corpse burned - not much was left than broken bones and maybe parts of soft tissue protected by armor.

So how did Shepard's mind survive? "Greybox" sounds like a possible solution. Kasumi and her partner got one, maybe that's a hint on how Shepard survived.

Whatever, mystery stays a mystery for today - will go to bed now, so gn8 everyone.

For the record: I never ever EVER once said that CptData did a bad job. I said that there were things that I wouldn't nessecarily have present on the cover and that it was a bit too much to see and a little stressful to try and pinpoint what to look at first.

But on the whole, It was a BRILLIANT  attempt at doing something new with Ashley Fanart and with doing something that he has little to no experience with. 

Now, I like this spread. There are a few things I would do differently, like with CptData's coverpage. But there is still things I would change. I won't list them for the sake of being kind and trying not to sound too much like a critical b!tch or a design ****, but I like the general look and feel you're both going for.

My main problem, though? The type is a little too close to the edge. But beyond that, well done both of you.
