"John. You feeling better?" Ashley said by way of greeting, walking towards him as he made his way to the elevator.
"Ash?" He turned, he was in full dress uniform with his medals and rank pins clean and shining. She smiles and lets out a chuckle. "This is the first time I've seen you in dress."
"I suppose so." Shepard muttered, tugging at his cuffs.
"It does not suit you at all."
"Thank you Ash, I'm glad we had this talk." He retorted with a deadpan, rolling his eyes.
"What's the matter, Jon? What's really bothering you?" She asked, leaning her head on his shoulders.
"Aside from the fact that I hate this outfit, I hate media and I had to save a galaxy from genocidial machines?"
"Well, yea. That'd get you down too. Let me rephrase, what is bothering you right now?"
Shepard's face transformed into a pitiful, pleading expression. "I want a f***ing break! No, I need a break!" Ash senced a mini-rant coming. "All of us on this ship have been busting our asses for five freaking years! We deserve at least ten minutes to have a drink or a smoke or something!"
"Ah Jon," Ash answered, giving him a sympathy pat on the head. "Not gonna happen."
"Yea." Shepard resigned, "But a guy can dream..."
"So what's with the get-up anyway?"
"Oh? Just a public declaration of my mounting insanity."
"Jonathan." Ash gave him a half amused, half serious look.
"Alright, yea. Some crappy media thing. Want to give me a medal or something." He shurgged indifferently.
"I think you mean 'All of them'. God you deserve them. They might give you all the military honors in Citadel Space. Hell - why don't they just give you 'Emperor of the Universe' while they're at it." She laughed, Shepard joined in before shaking his head.
"Nah. I want to disappear for a while after this. Tell everyone to ****** off and hide somewhere... Besides, I can't carry finery off all that well. Gimme a gun and a suit of armor over that any day."
"Amen."

Boomstick. I call her my "boomstick". An M8 Assault Rifle - nothing special. Got modified a bit, but is still the good ol' reliable weapon I got issued at "Day One" as a marine. Saved my life more than once - against Batarian terrorists, against Geth, against Saren ... and now she killed the nemesis of the one I love. And my "boomstick" stopped working. She fulfilled her destiny. Saved my future and the man shaping that future with me. Together.

Did you change her skin color? Most shots of "new" Ashley show her far more pale without any hispanic features. This Ashley, however, looks like Ashley we learned to love ...
