Did you see the last update to Untitled on Virmire?   Working on part II of that horribleness.  Should be up in a couple days.  

I'm kind of stuck on The Surprise, but hopefully after the next Untitled I can get a new short chapter up. Thanks for asking.  

My Shepard is not creative at all.  I suppose he could build things, but he never really had the chance to try out his handiness skills.  Oh god, I see him taking up building furniture or something in his downtime after ME3 and insisting on fixing everything around the house just to keep busy.  He'll probably drive poor Ash, crazy.

Of course she's not very creative either.  I think as much as she loves poetry and literature she's a terrible poet and writer.  She can't art.  She can't sing.  She can dance but just recreationally.  She's never really had to cook for herself so maybe she'd have fun with that in her downtime.

Long story short I don't see either one of them wanting too much down time.  They're both active folks.  Even if they made the shift to less risky careers I still see both of them as independent, successful career people.  Busy busy.

What kind of careers do you think they'd go for after ME3?  Depending on how their relationship with the Alliance ends up I mean.  If it's not something with the Alliance it could totally be something in private security or something else related to their expertise.  With the Alliance I could see them in some kind of training capacity, particularly Shepard maybe for N7 stuff.  Not sure about Ash.  Maybe in some kind of "rebuilding" capacity.

My Shepard is quite creative, but it's a side of his he hasn't really expressed much since he joined up with the Alliance. After the Reaper war and a year or so of complete withdrawal with Ash only keeping in touch with his closest friends, I think he wouldn't want to go back with the Alliance. He loved his job, but after ME3 he's been through so much that I imagine he has developed a allergy for the very same job and instead he'd go re-explore his creative side.

About Ashley's new job I'd agree I could see her going to small colonies providing aid and making the places were she goes inhabitable again. Nothing too risky or demanding, but something with visible result and quite gratifying I'd imagine. That seems to fit Ash.
 on her creativity I also  agree, but in my mind she still sings from the top of her lungs, occasionaly cooks (I could see my Shep doing the cooking aswell though) and keeps trying to express her feelings in poetry. Even if she's not any good at it, she'll do it as long as she enjoys herself like that, in my opinion.

I reckon Shepard would probably rent himself out as a bodyguard or something. Probably change his name, let his hair grow out a bit (not shoulder length, just enough to spike it maybe), maybe even change his name to hide from his past reputation. You know, something that's on the move, has a measurable amount of excitement but no galactic consequences...

In my Halcyon Verse though - after the Reaper war, he was crippled, and I mean CRIPPLED!
Half his left hand was gone, his right arm and leg were cut off and he was rendered blind (with a pretty nasty scar over his face to boot). Every government collapsed and the Verse was in a state of anarchy. Halcyon was created to try and restore some semblance of government and the only Reason Shepard agreed to rehabilitate was to find Ash whose location was unknown.

As for what they'd do.... honestly, I think they'd both stay in the military for a loooong time. Ash would be an sharpshooter instructor and Shepard would be offered to be a ship captain like Anderson, but he'd go for a desk job to stay close to Ash and the family.

 Here's a snippet for you guys.

Shepard was sleeping, if the snoring was any indication. Guilt gnawled at her for doing the selfish thing she was about to do now, but another part of her couldn't care. Ash just didn't want to be alone. As expected, he was slumped haphazardly on the left half of the bed. Facedown and his head buried under in his pillows. Just when her conscious had almost convinced her to turn around and head back to her bunk leaving Shepard to his restful sleep he seemed to jolt slightly, propping himself up on his side and his sleep-deprived eyes watching her.

"Ash?" He managed to surpress the yawn that tried to work its way out.

"I... uh." She hadn't really thought about what she wanted to say or how she wanted to say it. She sighed inwardly and resigned. "Can I sleep with you?"

"Wha-?" Shepard started,  Ash quickly with corrected herself. 

"I mean, in here." She quickly interrupted him. If Shepard had been in a more aware state, he probably would have relentlessly teased her about the slipup, but he mercifully wasn't.

"You know where the bed is." He said, lying back down on his side. Ash went to the opposite side of the bed and lay down. Both of them facing away from each other. A moment passed in silence, though it seemed like an eternity to Ash.

"So, what's the matter?" Shepard said, sounding more alert than a moment ago. Ash sighed, nestling deeper in the covers. 

"I couldn't sleep." She answered with a half-truth. Shepard grunted, seemingly satifised with that answer.

"Yeah. I know the feeling." He replied, "But what's the real reason, Ash?"

Another moment of silence passed, "I just didn't want to be alone." Ashley confessed. Her eyes traced the wall across the room through the darkness, again waiting for some stupid comment but recieved nothing of a sort. Instead, she felt his strong hand stroking her head comfortingly. Glancing over her shoulder, he was propped up on his arm again, facing her with a tired smile on his face. She rolled over, snuggling close to his chest as he wrapped his arms around her, still stroking her head.

"I'm here, Ash. Whenever you need me."

"God, that's awful." Ash answered, with a measured amount of amusement. A slow chuckle escaped his chest. 

"Get to sleep Williams. Big day tomorrow." He didn't even need to say anything, she was already out.

Poor Shepard. Hope the rehab will help him to get back on his "feet". And I hope there's enough Shepard left to call him "human". Does Ashley can love him anymore? She's not the shallow type, but Shepard is ... there's only half of Shepard left and alive.

Just for info: Ashley talks to Hackett about Shepard's mission in Arrival. No spoilers involved, but a lot of stuff that could be explained by BW in a similar way in ME3.

Hackett: Yes, Operation Chief? Ah, I'm sorry, you got promoted - Lieutenant Commander, right?
Ashley: Yes Sir. Jumped some ranks. Guess it has to do with that last mission ...
Hackett: I bet it does. What do you need, Lt. Commander?
Ashley: Just a few minutes. May I speak freely?
Hackett: Permission granted.
Ashley: It's about Shepard. I heard rumors ... heard you gave him a special task.
Hackett: Keep the rumors being rumors. I can't talk to you about any assignments of Shepard.
Ashley: So you had contact with him.
Hackett: Indeed.
Ashley: And you sent him on a mission. You know he's still working for Cerberus and you can't trust him.
Hackett: I know about Shepard's connections to Cerberus. But I trust him.
Ashley: Sir, with all due respect ... you should not trust Shepard. And as I can see this, you gave a traitor viable informations for a mission I was assigned originally.
Hackett: Shepard is no traitor.
Ashley: As long as he's not reporting directly to you or any other Admiral of the Alliance, I consider him as one.
Hackett: Then you should reconsider your image of Commander Shepard.
Ashley: Sir, I just want to know why you send him on that mission. Why him, why not me? I read the briefing, I prepared everything - and when I was on my way to the Shuttle your adjutant told me the mission is over and got handed over to a Spectre.
Hackett: Indeed. And you figured out that Spectre was Shepard.
Ashley: Your adjutant helped me a bit.
Hackett: So he did his job.
Ashley: What is going on, Admiral?
Hackett: You know almost everything about the mission, but that's only half of the entire image. The other half is secret. No one knows about it, not even Shepard. All I can say: the Alliance is lying. Don't trust the Council. Don't trust anyone.
Ashley: Sir?
Hackett: The Reapers -are- coming. The Council knows that as well. Everyone is preparing for the Invasion. Shepard's job is to find out what's going on in the Bahak system. He's out there to get the last piece of the puzzle, the very proof the Reapers will be here. We'll send that piece of evidence to the Council as soon as Shepard returns.
Ashley: And that's the big secret?
Hackett: No. The secret is around Shepard. You must trust him. You can not trust Cerberus, but you must trust him.
Ashley: You can't expect me trusting a traitor.
Hackett: He's no traitor.
Ashley: Sir, I think he is.
Hackett: And I said it before: reconsider your image of Shepard. Don't allow your feelings to blur your senses.
Ashley: There are no feelings for Shepard, Admiral.
Hackett: I'm not blind, Lt. Commander. You broke the rule once. You're still breaking the rule. And you will break the rule again.
