B/c it doesn't look like something she would wear. She even speaks out against outfits like that in ME1. It looks terribly unprofessional and it clashes with itself as well. The concept arts are way better, IMO, and look more professional. Sure BW can take Ashley in whatever direction they want, but that doesn't mean I'm just going to accept and roll with it. I'm going to let them know how I feel. The more posts in that thread, the better.
To me, it's not even really about the outfit... it's what that outfit says about the direction they could be taking her character. Everything from the new brows, eyes, facial structure tweaks, and that outfit say they're taking her into a more feminine roll or eye candry roll... ie an Ashley that's not the Ashley we knew and loved in ME1. I don't want a complete 180 turn around in her character.
And don't try to say it's character development and with no development characters are bad... she's had plenty of development... hell, she's a spectre... I don't see the reason for changing her looks so drastically.
I'll leave this quote to end my post,
"Kaidan's look emphasizes what a tough marine he is. Every shot we've seen of him has been in some form of heavy armor. Bioware is emphasizing Kaidan's masculinity and Ash's femininity. Essentially turning them into cliched stereotypes to make them appear more attractive."
^ Ashley was pretty much the opposite of that in ME1... as a strong, independent type woman.
THAT is why I'm against that outfit. If it all turns out to be fine and it's just a stupid design idea and they didn't change her character up... I'll be happy.
Yes, yes, I have seen plenty of your comments how everyone who doesn't actively hate the outfit is a mindless idiot who just bends over for Bioware's stupid ideas and how everyone who doesn't think the outfit goes against her character doesn't care about or know Ashley's character.
As I said, I don't like everything about the outfit (color of her pants), but the way you and a few others represent your opinion - and it's just that - makes me hardly want to sympathize with you.
Come on, this is the woman who wears a little make-up even as a gunnery chief being put in hideous armor by the Alliance military, the woman who rather agressively flirts with Shepard despite her quoting the regs against fraternisation, who talks about her dance moves and taking her sisters for a girl's night out.
I can see her opening up more in that way now that she seems to have gained more authority, no reason she has to trade in her "strong, independent type woman" side. The two sides go well together, they always have, the balance just has shifted a little and it doesn't mean she can't still kick ass or drill you between the eyes at a hundred paces.
You may not like this direction, but it's valid development, regarding how she has been shown in the first game, at least in my opinion and I seem to be not the only one.
The fact that it's mostly the same people in those threads, doesn't mean their lenght is any indication that a majority has a problem with the outfit, there might be more, but they might not want to post in them, because of the prevelant ugly tone.
And people are right, that topic is tiresome, so this is the last from me on this.

the better version, by AdmiralCheez, whose reply to my post from yesterday, I agree with btw.
