Lt. Commander Ashley Williams thread: "Don't 'Ash' me!" We're Back Baby!

In the grand scheme of things it's a minor thing, but oddly enough my anticipation of ME3 dropped a good 40% today.
I was looking forward to having Ash in the squad, but now I'd just assume not see her at all rather than see her character ruined. As someone in the other thread said, she has a dead disinterested look in her eyes. Which is all the more troubling if that's her character selection screen picture.

I agree with her transformation being so people would gain interest; however, I wonder if they are trying to make up for her attitude in ME2? (not to say that she may still have it or not)
"You made me mad - not to mention you don't look all that hot!"
Whereas Miranda gets mad and folks loved it - not necessarily because she looked gorgeous, but it fit her personality. I wouldn't say Ash is "sexed-up" (minus the parts that were); however, many felt she was quite "bland" in appearance and personality two games ago.
There's the other side though: people not forgetting the Horizon scene. She could wear what she is now, but her venom in ME2 just sucks that right off. Whereas, again, with Miranda, she could still wear her outfit egardless of what she spat out. (Jack's outfit was BEYOND appropriate for her character, too. Don't mellow her out just because you covered her up)
I, too, hope there isn't a drastic personality change like with wardrobe, but I also hope she isn't as "bland" as she was in the first two games either.
Both Ash & Miranda have haters ... I personally like both as I have said here and on the Miranda thread. Liking one does not mean that you hate/dislike the other.
Her outfit, to me, needed updating since game 1 to game 3 is 5 years approx in the gaming world. It would be sad that all the other characters were updated and there is poor Ash with bun & white/pink armor. Should an updated heavy armor be available for her? Yes. But the lighter outfit should also be available ... more options is good.
Ash, to me, was never bland ... she is a compassionate, honest, sarcastic, emotional, tough as nails and very protective of her sisters. Far from bland ... in real life I would like her as a friend.

Here is a link. twitter.com/#%21/CaseyDHudson
Just search "armor" on the side and the tweet will show up.
"CaseyDHudsonCasey Hudson
Ashley will be able to have armor and a helmet in #ME3, as will others. We've only shown very little of the game so far.

@MegaBadExample: I couldn't agree with you more.
If that was aimed at me, I am not one.
That's cool. I mean, I have written some "anti-Ash" stuff in here, but there is logic and reasoning behind it.

And what makes you so sure he doesn't consider Ashley's stripper outfit to be "armor" complete with a BS codex entry about how it's made out of latex treated with an "anti-bulletonium" coating.
"Stripper" outfit? Whichever gentlemen's club you go to, you might want to re-think it ... they are overdressed.

i'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for saying this lol but i have to ask... did anyone feel like ash was extremely man like in the first one? i mean not really now with her whole makeover and what not. but seriously i felt like everything about her was just a man in a womans body haha
No. I felt she was strong and capable. My first reaction was that she was a b!tch, but that had nothing to do with her looks. She's beautiful. During my second playthrough I felt I'd really like to meet a woman like that.

I'm sure a lot of people thought that.
Thankfully, BW learned from their mistake and introduced Miranda for these people.

lol That's exactly what I thought.
This is no stripper outfit. I hope I can change her into her Alliance fatigues from ME1 and get the hair bun back.

Ash, had her moments. I particularly like how she says "Damn!" after you popped somebody! Did you mean that in a good way or not? (I took it as of the former variety of course)
You know, if I can, I'll make myself twice as happy provided I get to take both, but as far as romance ...
Seriously, it's all just shock right now. I think though that once people begin playing and have played long enough, they'll forget she's wearing anything - let alone that "actrocious garb."
When I said bland, I didn't mean her personally. I meant in comparison to other characters like many have lamented about Jacob compared to the rest of the ME2 crew. He isn't a bad character, he just seems reserved more so than the others just as Ashley seem to be much "tougher" than the other ME1 crewmates. (She beat out Garrus! Damn!

And seriously, a fan in very short time with photoshop made much better job then Bioware did in, what? 1 year?

Yes, please focus on my exaggeration and ignore the point I was making that it's quite possible that Casey considers the highly impractical outfit for a frontline soldier to be the "armor" he was talking about.

You have a very pessimistic view when it comes to Ash in ME3. There is no statement so far that this latex outfit is her armor.
Hope dies last and I hope that she gets actual armor like the Phoenix or Colossus armor. She looked so hot in those.

It's beautiful. It's perfect. If something like this isn't in the final game I'll line up for a mod of it.l:wub:

Like I always say, pessamists are never disappointed, only pleasantly surprised on rare occasions.
And if it weren't meant to be her armor, you'd think everybody else in that pic would also be wearing casual wear and not armor.

This was hotly contested only (2?) months ago in a thread that is now closed. This is a re-color of that same outfit. Why are people so adamant on burying their heads in the sand on this?

I am not burying my head in the sand.
It is just that I believe in Casey Hudson's statement on twitter.
Ok I admit it. They disappointed me with ME2 which was the worst game in the franchise in my opinion but perhaps they do the right thing with ME3.
The ME3 positives so far are: Ash is back; Shepard is Alliance again; we get to kill lots of Cerberus terrorists.
