God. I missed Ash then. Would have loved to see Shepard rush to the Normandy and have her pull him up. Or that scene before the bolt to the Normandy were he pulls the debris off the squadmate. Would have loved her in the SM, or pre-SM.

Aurora tends to have a good influence on this thread. Think without her, Ashley would see a far less active thread.

Hey, peeps! Thinking of cosplaying Ash at some point (BECAUSE I AM NERDY AND UNASHAMED).

Let me know if I got the makeup right.

And because I feel weird posting pics of myself, have some semi-creepy derp.

(Also, sorry for the greasy hair. I didn't notice it could get so bad AFTER A FEW GODDAMN HOURS what the f*ck, hair.)

Can't really tell because of the crappy lighting lol

But honestly, I think it looks rather good.

Dismissed, Chief!

And Ashley's hair is probably greasy, too, after a hard fight, when she takes off that helmet. So if you are going for realistic cosplay, you should keep it that way ;-)

I concur, it's hard to see, but it seems to look pretty much right.Image IPB

Ditto on the "defile the dead thing" especially if I'm younger than 50 do it ASAP plz.

The only reason I'm glad ashley wasn't on the SM would be because people would roll through the thred posting gifs of Ashley getting a rocket to the face like they do with Tali every now and again. they can't be all "Eff you Ashley! *send her to into a pack of collectors with no backups*"

We red the same spoilers, Also it's because he likes to rage about the outfit and he was rebuked by several people who think it's character development. :P

You know, some part of me liked her absence, because it felt like someone was missing. I felt it worked for the story that Shepard (and I) longed to someone far out of reach. The one Shep loved most rejected him(/ possibly her) the most aswell. Again execution wise it wasn't done properly, but her absence wasn't necessarily a bad thing to me.

Ofcourse this only works if we get a good reunition in ME3, especially dialogue wise, which is the big concern for me right now. Have to say I have lowered my expectations of it a little to an, unfortunately, more realistic level.

Must say, I missed Ash a lot in ME2. She was in almost EVERY squad in ME1, even in unimportant assignments, since without her I felt not complete. In ME2 I had not such squadmate - they pretty much got mixed a lot. My canon!Shepard used to have Miranda with him a lot, but far less often than Ashley. The rest of my Shepards have mixed up squads with every new assignment.

One of the things I don't understand is, why ppl believe Ashley or Kaidan would die if being squadmates in ME2. Why that? Because of the SM? Check Liara again, dear fans - she was a squadmate. Temporary only, but still - a squadmate. Shouldn't have been that difficult to make a mission or two with the VS as squadmate? Arrival anyone? :P

Yeah I'd rather have had Ash with me for a mission or two aswell, but at the same time, Ash her absence creates a feeling of longing that I think is a positive for their story. Suddenly they are back together again, both changed perhaps, after missing each other, yet they don't know if they should, or how to, tell each other of the way they longed, until far into the story. That sounds like good drama to me. Not saying Bioware will do this, but her absence in some ways made me appreciate her more.

If there was a side mission for Ash as good as LotSB then I'd prefer it over this longing, but it could have easily been less satisfying, leaving us dissapointed that it's not as good as LotSB and having the effect of longing ruined. I don't know if Bioware interprets it this way, but I like the idea.

Also I think people did talk about her as being a squaddie like Tali and Garrus in this particular instance.

That what I wanted from ME2 for the VS. a side mission that keeps them from the chopping block of the SM so that they're still guaruntteed to be in ME3 but we got nothing. No dossier or vids in the SB database, which is disappointing because he can keep up with a one off character but not the VS. LAME.

Indeed. I mean, a lot of ME1 guys got sidelined, but the VS? Must say, ME2 wouldn't feel any different without the cameo of the VS (except in the prologue) on Horizon. The entire scene there didn't help much. And the cameo itself was far too short to contribute anything to the story. Oh, of course except that everyone believes the VS broke up with Shepard (if LI) and sees him / her as traitor. But that could have been done in a nicer, more interesting way with less feeling of "betraying the player who had the VS as LI in ME1".

In short: no VS on Horizon would have done less damage to the VS and the fans of Ash and Kaidan, than Horizon WITH VS.

That dissapointed me to no end, I thought we were finally get some vague hints as to what might have happened with the VS or atleast learn something new like "Ashley drinks coffee", "Met her sisters and said a few mysterious things about work and how she's not allowed to tell anymore."

I feel like that was a stupid move showing a lack of appreciation of the characters and the fans from Bioware. Oddly enough I have found some peace with her really small role in ME2, but not with the lack of dossier, since there just isn't a proper excuse for that I think./rant.

Guess it was far too much work to add a few lines of Ashley / Kadain to the SB dossiers.
Like it was "too much work" to add a "replay button" for e-mails.
Or "too much work" to give us a second meeting with the VS on the Citadel (Flux) for a talk.
Or "too much work" to give us a proper story that doesn't feel rushed and lacked the essence of ME.

*sigh* - it's funny that ME2 fails at the very point BW games should excel: the story and the universe itself. The missions are fine, most of them are far better than any mission in ME1, but the story itself is ... meh. As if BW fired all of their writers in favor of an additional team of level designers.

PS: Yes, Ashley loves coffee. In my headcanon :D

I would have liked to have her on the Citadel after the Horizon encounter, maybe at a local place, Flux or Dark Star. She probably wouldn't want to talk to you, only having a few lines of dialogue that get repeated over and over (like having the same conversation with Anderson over and over again). But at least enough of a conversation to help Shepard's side of events. Maybe even just a few sentences over a drink or two. Nothing 'long' but the whole meaningful silence and just enjoying each other's company.

I know what you mean, for me, for every step it took forward it also took a step back, resulting mainly in better gameplay and a lackluster, or poor even, story. I'm not expecting ME3 to blow me away anymore, there will probably be good steps they take and bad ones, but I still hope the overal experience will be amazing and that the flaws won't be so noticable when it all comes together.

um ME2 was rated higher than Me1 and also won awards for writing that, to the best of my knowledge, ME1 didn't. I wouldn't call ME2 a failure just because two characters were missing. There's more to Mass Effect than Ashley and Kaidan.

Something like this?

Shepard wanders into Flux. He had a long, hard day, and the Collectors are finally defeated. Time for a beer ...

Ashley: Is that you, Shepard?
Shepard: Ashley? What are you doing here?
Ashley: I asked first.
Shepard: Yes, I'm Shepard, Ashley.
Ashley: And I'm here for a drink or two. I read your last message - it said you were on a suicide mission. Seems you came back, as you promised.
Shepard: Couldn't bear the thought you had to lose me once more, Ash.
Ashley: Shepard - I know, what happened on Horizon ...
Shepard: Nevermind, Ashley. You had some good points. And in hindsight I'm glad you weren't on board when we went through the O4 relay. You could have been killed - and I can't take the thought of losing you.
Ashley:  You know me - I don't die that easily.
Shepard: That time everything was different. Almost lost my crew. Almost lost any of my friends. Should count me lucky to be here and talk to you.
Ashley: I'm glad you're here too. Mind a drink or two to celebrate your return from the death?
Shepard: Sure, I'll pay-
Ashley: Forget it. I blamed you for doing your job. Sure, you did it in the wrong colors, but you did it and saved a lot of lives. This round is on me.
Shepard: Ashley ...
Ashley: Skipper ...
Shepard: Ash... take your time. Don't rush into something you can't control. I'm ... I did horrible things too.
Ashley: I know. And some day you'll have to pay, but not today.
Shepard: And who'll be my judge?
Ashley: Not me, stupid. And maybe not the Alliance or the Council. But there's still God ...
Shepard: Ash, you know me ...
Ashley: Indeed, I do, Skipper ...
Shepard: Ashley - I do have one more question ... about that message you wrote me after Horizon - do you believe there's a future for us?
Ashley: As you said ... "take your time". I'm not sure, not yet. If it's true and the Reapers will return, there's no future for anyone as long as they're unchallenged. I believe you will find a way to stop them. I just hope you'll do it fast ...
Shepard: I will, Ashley, I promise ...

Thanks for the compliment, CptData.

Here's a prologue Dialogue to this rather ... interesting event.

Shepard: What are you two doing?
Ashley: I'm chatting with an old friend. Cassandra, this is Jonathan Shepard. My partner. Jon. This is Cassandra, a very old friend of mine.
Cassandra: Ashley said you were cute, I have to say she wasn't kidding.
Shepard: Uh *clears throat arkwardly.* Please to meet you.
Cassandra: And bashful too, how delightful.
Ashley: Anyway, back to what I was saying. Are you sure you can't give me the weapons mods?
Cassandra: Sorry, Ashie. It's out of my hands.
Ashley: *flirty* I could find some otherway to pay you?
Cassandra: What do you have in mind, dear? *plays with her hair a bit*
Shepard: Whoa-whoa-whoa! Are you seriously suggesting... with her?
Ashley: You can join in too if you want to?
Shepard: Uh - *Speechless, gawking at Ash.* You - and - *At Cassandra, then Ash again. He relents and shrugs* What can I say? I'm a weak, weak man.

It's not the lack of Kaidan or Ashley in ME2. It's more ... and don't get me wrong ... the math:

Only 6 missions of ME2 are directly related to the game's main story: defeating the Reapers. If you add both DLCs "Arrival" and "LotSB" to "essential missions" that number raises to 8. I think I calculated something like 25 total missions - means the rest are non-story related missions. There's too much recruiting and loyalizing involved and that takes out a lot of speed of the plot. Isn't it time critical since with every passing day another colony could get abducted? Does Shepard have the time to do all those "side missions"? I'm just asking.

Overall I think ME2 got rushed. It feels incomplete; 6 - 12 months more time could have finished the game.

ME1 got less points because the gameplay wasn't finished and the combat system was incomplete. I think ME1 with ME2 or ME3 technology but same story and extras would score more points.

I was playing Dragon Age yesterday and I arranged for Alistair(A companion+love interest), myself and Isabella to have a 'private training session' on her ship. So that's why that came to mind. :P
