That depends on taste I guess ;-)
I never got in touch with Liara that could be counted as "romantic interest" - it's more a friendship. If there's any romantic undertone, then it's from her side - my Shepards like her, but she's not the one they want.

Ashley on the other hand ... dunno. She has something I can't fully describe. I tried it, however, it's still not the full picture. Maybe because Ashley is a really complex character. You can take her the wrong way within 5 seconds if you hit her tough outside. You can also take her wrong even if she allows you to get to her soft spot (emotionally). There are a lot of mistakes you can make with Ashley, but if you pick the right route, the relationship with her can grow incredible tight. Maybe even more than with Liara - I believe the affection between Shepard and Liara is not based on the same level. Liara seems to "fangirl" over Shepard, she seems to act a bit like a woman who finally finds her first true love. Shepard feels more experienced. I've got a similar feeling with Tali in ME2 btw.

The affection between Ash and Shepard seems to be more on the same level: friends, comrades in arms, lovers. They're coming from the same direction and they're going to see a similar future. That fuses them together in some way - if you allow that love happen.

I like Ash, never seen her as a LI though (not my type, and I dislike poetry with a force of thousands su... all right I just do).
Still can't decide which one possible Virmire Survivor I prefer.
I mean, a capable girl that can blast through anything with her boomstick (minus this pink armor. You're a soldier sweetheart, not a powerpuff girl. I know MIranda in her white armor looks bare-ass naked, but life's tough - should have joined Cerberus) or a calm, repressed-emotions guy who I just hope, won't be pissing me off too much in ME3 (leak spoilers, be mostly false plz).

I don't buy into Wrex being a "better" Krogan. Grunt is potrayed as a younger, but on the same level as, Wrex. They both join Clan Urdnot, both kill a Thresher Maw during their Rites*, and both have a great respect for Commander Shepard and their crew. Hell even Grunt says he hates Turians but is okay with Garrus because he's with Shepard, and Wrex has a respect for Ashley from seeing her work with Shepard. that said I like Grunt a little more the Wrex.

I can see your point of view. It makes sense but I still can't get into her, even though I like poetry. Liara has been evolving, which is good. At the end of the day it's hard to explain these things though...

Your Shepard needs Liara, mine needs Ashley. ^^

Okay, I bet Aurora will kill me - but I second that.

Besides that: Liara seems to be the only one with enough freedom to do the task. Ashley / Kaidan got grounded afaik, they were loyal to Shepard but accepted that s/he was dead. And as far as they knew there was no way to bring him back from the dead. So why should they try the impossible?
Liara had contact to the SB and maybe knew there was a way to bring him back.

Liara did it because she cared for Shepard. But she also did it because she knew there was a way to bring him or her back. If romanced you can say she did it because of love, but without that romance, that argument becomes invalid. Liara did it, because it was possible.
Ashley & Kaidan did NOTHING, because they didn't know it was possible. I bet the VS would have done the same for Shepard if s/he knew how to do it.

As a person who really likes Ash but moved on in ME2 this worries me...I have not read any spoilers but I am worried about just how bad I am going to feel meeting her again.

Okay guys, seems it's a good idea to stop right here: Ashley's fan thread does not wanna see too many spoilers, too much talk about spoilers or too much stuff about different LIs.

I don't wanna be an armchair mod, but also don't wanna see this one either getting into a debate about "which LI is better" or closed because lack of Ashley.

Sorry AresXX7 I'm just going through my mass effect vidoes I got from my Xbox 360 playthoughs last night, My new HD capture card came yesterday and it's fantastic. Love the pictures by the way and that Ice cream is making me hungry.

Hence why I've only been posting dialogues^^^^^

- The mandatory "first kiss" and "first night spent together" day
- The day when Shepard defeated Ashley in the ring
- Proposal day
- Wedding day
- I love my sisters day
- I lost my squad day (Eden Prime)
- Day of Shepard's death
- Day of Shepard's return
- Argument day (Horizon)

...

Poor Shepard. That's going to be a long list of days he has to remember. Missing one: Ashley lashing out against you.

Does Ash own Shepard - and Liara is sad because of that?

I think in this picture Ash is just assertively and playfully displaying her confidence and ownership of Shepard. Liara's probably just trying to be polite and ignoring her.

I thought it was because she was nervous, since shepard has his gun aimed at her foot (probably unintentional, atleast I hope it's unintentional)
