Maybe it doesn't matter in ME3. After all, Ashley (or Kaidan) becomes a Spectre and therefore, should have a minimum of acceptance of aliens, if you were talking about that. I don't think the so called "racism" will show up when Ash is talking.

I personally don't find Ashley's views racist, but she harbors a lot of animosity towards the Council and the Alliance brass if you don't Paragonize her.

But why would their Spectre status limit their acceptance of aliens to a minimum? Spectres are Council operatives, meaning they'd act as the representatives of all Council races.

Okay I have been trying to keep off this forum to avoid potential spoilers because I want the full emotional experience playing ME3 hoping Ash and Shep get back together.  But every now and then I give into temptation and see if there are any new developments.  Such as now.  So question: The above is brand new to me, I haven't seen it in any of the "sneak peek" footage.  Where did this come from?  Is it from a video clip?

it's from the private demo beta. it's when you first meet Ashley and find out she's a Lt. Commander, the same Rank as Shepard.

Ah thanks.  Is that where the video I just posted also came from?  I heard there was no audio with that, so especially curious how her rank was said to be LCDR (subtitles?).
I was also curious about this whole LCDR thing so googled it...curious the discussion on the Mass Effect Wiki about it...

Granted the ME universe is a fantasy one, but if it has any basis in reality it would be quite a feat for her to be promoted like that given the time span.  On Horizon she is Operations Chief.  Figure a few months later the events of ME2 are over, and if you go with Badpie that the events of Arrival happen right afterwards (with LotSB happening in between), that's far less than 6 months after Horizon when she would be made LCDR.  In rare situations in the military there are such things as "positional appointments", meaning you are temporarily given a higher rank to coincide with your position (until your "real" rank catches up), but I doubt it.  My money when the real game comes out we'll see she's a LT.  Just my $0.02.

Anderson SAYS Lieutenant Commander several times. there's recorded lines about it. plus she commands the Normandy while shepard is relieved of duty. LT's don't get command posts.

Hmm.  In the E3 or whatever demo, the official one, you clearly hear Anderson call her LT on the radio during the pickup scene.   LCDR is verbally abbreviated CDR not LT.  Either the beta was experimenting with something or they changed the dialogue in the section the demo showed.  If they gave the VS command of the Normandy then i could see a positional promotion easily but wouldnt that be something they knew when they made the offical demo video.
Guess we'll know march 6th!

Right, what I'm saying is there is no updated demo showing that.  Therefore the strongest evidence for the LCDR rank is that they had lines recorded saying LCDR.  I assume they had actual dialogue recorded by the VA's in the leak?  Trying not to watch it, I did when the opening of Dead Space 2 leaked and made me enjoy that part a lot less.

Yes. Mark Meer, Keith David, Vega's VA (unnamed atm), and Kim Brooks can be heard in the leaked demo.

I admit I would find this annoying. I've been in command of my own ship for two games now; the third game would be a bad time for this to be retracted.

even if she was in command there's no doubt she'd give you control once you were aboard.

Well I'm guessing Ashley defers command to you since you are of Same rank, but I'd really think Kaidan would not since he outranks you. though he may as well just to save the e-penises of all the malesheps that saved him because they hated Ashely. Honest;y I'd cry teas of Joy if ashley was the one at the galaxy map. my Shepard's would be crying tears of Joy.

Not knowing was eating at me so I finally watched it and, well, hey, look at this. In the same exact leaked beta where Anderson apparently calls Ash Lieutenant Commander, he also is heard calling her Lieutenant on the radio (in the same place he did during the official demo). Forward to around 9:40.


Hmm. Maybe that's something they'll square away before release. I do agree that if she is made CO of the Normandy then it would make sense for her to be promoted to LCDR, but if what Badpie's saying is correct (that such is just speculation) then I could see it going either way.

Side note (SPOILER):
I'm sure we all thought it odd how he just kind of walks past her without looking at her. It looked like the guy who made the video did a generic Shepard, maybe the Beta didn't even let you import. Anyone seen a version where Ash was romanced?

It sounds like he wants to address her b rank but just decides to go with Ashley. You can't say Lieutenant Commander without Lieutenant afterall.

plus she's the sniper I play her as! I don't know if anyone here watches FMA but She's the Riza Hawkeye to my Mshep's Roy mustang (sort of). My SI Adept runs into combat throwing things intot he air with lift and signularity and she just snipes them out of the air.
