Hint. Most Ash fans did not like Miranda, not her look or her attitude, redesigning Ash to be more Miranda like may not sit well with Ash fan's.
I can only speak for myself, but I really liked Miranda once I got to know her.... And having Ash be the exact opposite of her is besides the point... They're completely different people and Bioware knows this.  If they decide to change her personality I will probably break the disk in half and definitely be so dissappointed.  But if that's what they do, they'll be aware of who they're pissing off, and who they're servicing.
I love both characters.  Miranda and Ashley... My main maleshep is sticking with Miranda... Sorry Ash

It isn't as sexualized as Miranda, but compared to the guys, it just feels like she's not suppose to be the "tough" person anymore. She looks like the female supporting character compared to the guys. You know, the type that's a medic, or the person that gives you missions briefings. Not a fighter, despite the assault rifle. Like another Miranda. It just feels like a wrong change. Especially under a year since Horizon.

@Reed: As of now it is still concept art. (Thank God) I really hope the developers are reading what some of these responses to their ideas. Mostly I hope this isn't a preview to the "development/growth" in Ash's character.

Seriously... I hope they scrap this idea and go with some armor... it's just... not even Ashley anymore. (which is probably what they want... ya know... for more sales ugh)

As for your other point... THAT is EXACTLY what I'm afraid of!!! If they are willing to go against things that Ashley says she wouldn't do... just to make her have more sex appeal (She was sexy as hell already!!!)  Then what's to stop them from changing her personality as well??

I hope they do see that this isn't the type of thing Ash fans want (and NO I'm not talking about those "oh I wish I wouldn't have cheated now... I love you Ash" people... they aren't fans of her IMO) and decide to change her outfit.

I agree completely. And that was one of the things that drew me to Ash. The fact that she was a strong, brash woman who could hold her own and even kick ass in a fight. And was the same way when not in combat.... but this makes it feel that they are really straying away from that to appease the crowd that just wants the sex... cause sex sells and all that. :(

Bioware can easily solve this give her the catsuit as casual attire and give her some medium armor for combat.

This alt. outfit makes me 99.99% sure her main armor is the blue catsuit in the trailers

Better to face it now: they don't care about L'Etoile's vision of Ash nor the people who liked Ash for who she was.

She's just a lure for the 14-year old horny boys now. I don't CARE it's an "alternate" outfit - She said she wouldn't WEAR those in combat. No matter how you put it - it's butchering her character.

Finally someone else out there said it. Believe it or not kiddies there are men and women who find Ash's strength and brashness extremely sexy. Not all Ash fans need her hair down and her assets shown off to find her sexy.

I wish they'd at least dump the combat heels. That's. Just. So. Stupid. And it seemed that every other female character had them.

The style difference between ME1 and ME2 where outfits were concerned was just way too jarring. I'm really hoping for a return to the ME1 style for ME3, because, to me, what they did in ME1 just feels more like Mass Effect.

But, yes, I do agree to an extent about Ash - the outfit pictured here doesn't look like something she'd wear in combat. That said, given her Spectre status, and the fact that she's likely not under regs that are as strict, I could see her maybe letting her hair down and wearing a more casual outfit between missions. As long as she's not going into combat with combat heels and exposed skin on her chest, I'd be happy.

Something just occourred to me....We've never seen Ashley off the ship. In the one pic of her she's on the ship With Shepard. In the earth Demo (with T-shirt shepard fighting armed husks in summer wear with armored anderson) She's on the Normandy to pick us up. Garrus and Liara are the promo squaddies so we have NO IDEA what Ash wears into combat.

QFT.  This is an Ash outfit I can get behind 100%!!!  (Although the girly-girl in me does like the other outfit.  It is pretty!!  But not for combat.  Nope).  Look at those sensible shoes!!  When you're in a fight, heels are the last thing you want to worry about.  Even wedge heels, or low, stable-seeming heels.  Feet on the ground, please.

Now that I like, take note Bioware!

Though personally I don't like the look of the collar but I could live with it, even more so if it was toned down/removed.

+10 to the OP of the pic, but whatever Ash ends up in won't matter since I won't be focus on her attire anyway.

Which makes me wonder if the game were out right now with her "maligned" outfit, how many people, honestly, wuldn't play because of it? I bet many would like to hear her say: "I wouldn't be caught dead in that!" (as in ME1) However, ironically, she does in ME3! Talk about bittersweet!

Of course we're going to play the game.... it's that we're worried about what they have done to Ash if ... THAT is what they dress her in.... especially if that's what she wears in combat. It's like she's not even Ash anymore.

That's why we're scared, complaining, pessimistic, etc... at least, that's why I am. lol
