False. Even though Ashley is not a PC, her character does depend on the player somewhat, everyone' charcter does. Garrus is not the same in ME2 if you tell him to go back to C-Sec rather than to try for the spectre's and be a renegade as opposed to a paragon. Ashley can be softer in her stance of mistrusting aliens because of sheaprd or just get even more entrentched in her skepticism of them, because of Shepard. The squadmates are being treated like they're real people and real people change all the time.  Ashley being Bi or gay does not have any effect on who she is as sexual preference does not have any effect on the personality unless you let it. There aren't "straight" personality traits or "gay" personality traits. ashley can still be her tough self, wielding big guns and kicking ass if she's attracted to a woman the same as she does if she's attracted to a Man. And she'll punch you out if you tell her other wise....or she'll shoot you in the knee, who knows.

However, in my headcanon I see her as a woman who can imagine having interest in an another woman if that woman has something that gets Ashley's attention. I know some guys who said something similar about other men - and all of them claim they're heterosexuals.

So basically, Ashley is nearly exclusively heterosexual.

And you're right - her character is not touched by her sexual alignment.

Or she's just not into female shepard. Not everyone has to be into Shepard you know. You can still be bi and not be with a Shepard of your same gender. despite what Mass effect elads you to beleive, the galaxy does not revolve around Commander Shepard. It's not "you're not straight unless your attracted to OS Shepard or you're not bi or gay unless you're attracted to SS Shepard. Ashley could very well have a civilian girlfriend or boyfriend and not be with Shepard.

Too bad we can't have Ash for f!Shepard in ME3. I mean, it was planned originally for ME1 and got cut out. Why not fixing that mistake and allow a relationship with Ash and f!Shep in ME3? I really don't get it.
Your explanation (Ashley loves only m!Shep but is not into f!Shep) makes a lot of sense - it's just sad we can't have that option. Actually, a lesbian romance with Ash would be a main reason for me to make a female Shepard just for that romance.

Ashley: He seemed nice, Though with all those scars he must have been through hell.
Shepard: Nice, come on Ash I know you by now you've already formed an opinion and I thought you liked scars?
Ashley: Not that many, he seems a confident leader who likes to do things his way and has the same twisted sense of humour you do.
Shepard: Where do you think I got mine from? But you like him right?
Ashley: Yes I like him John. But what's with his rank. There are no Colonels in the Alliance Navy Hierarchy.
Shepard: Yet you recognised his rank insignia as colonel.
Ashley: Dad told me once he served with a colonel for a special mission but he never knew why a Navy officer had a rank of colonel.
Shepard: That must of been Colonel Ben Thomas one of the finest soldiers to come out of the N7 program.
Ashley: So it's a N7 classified thing.

Shepard: Kind of. When the Alliance Navy was formed there was a lot of debate about it's command structure. The politicians wanted a more simple rank system structure, while the military want to retain the traditional rank and file.
Ashley: I remember reading that in basic. The politicians needed public support for the new Alliance charter which would see the Navy take a more leading role for humanity over that of the civilian government when branching out in to space.
Shepard: One of the concessions the Alliance had to make to the various Earth governments was a simple unifying command structure of 14 ranks instead of 27.
Ashley: So why did they never change it back?
Shepard: Even after the First contact war the governments on Earth still didn't trust the Alliance to determine it's own rules and regulations at least in the regular Navy.
Ashley: But the special forces branches had more room for manoeuvre.
Shepard: Yep. As you know in order for a Captain or Major to be promoted to Admiral/ General it requires consent from the Alliance council and the civilian oversight committee.
Ashley: So why didn't they just put Max forward for General.
Shepard: Have you ever heard of a 29 year old General in peace time?
Ashley: No, oh so Colonel is a rank given to an officer to young to be considered for General/ Admiral by the civilian government.
Shepard: Yes or if a lot of the officers missions have been classified "Alliance Admiralty Only" which in Max's case are both true.
 
Ashley: So he's a better solider than you? hehehehehehehe
Shepard: No he's just lucky. Save one council officials daughter from Batarian terrorists and jump 3 places up the command ladder. If only the councillor knew what happened between Max and his daughter on the way back to Earth *Smirks*
Ashley: You're jealous John.
Shepard: Quite the opposite if it wasn't for that mission he would of been on the Normandy instead of me and we would never of met.
Ashley: You're joking....aren't you?
Shepard: No. He would be here right now instead of me. How do you like that thought?
Ashley: *Takes a big sip of her wine* Ok I forgive you John now tell me what my eyes look like *Smiles*

You don't know that she's not available for female Shepard. Teh game hasn't come out yet and the spoilers weren't the final cut as the game hasn't gone gold yet (meaning it has yet to be finalize completely) Raphael sbarge was the last VA recording I think a week ago so they've obviously added things and that could also be the VS being same sex romanceable since there's an obvious demand for it by the fans (Tali was put on the Me3 squad because fans demanded it, again!)

I hope you're right. I doubt BW will give us a DLC upgrading Ash & Kaidan so they're available for both genders if it's not in the vanilla game.

Yes Colonel or Fleet Captin would be a 1 Star General or Commodore in my view then there would be 3 ranks of Admiral/ General.

Well I'll have one femshep ready for a romance, whether it'll be in the game or not..and I already have one who confessed her love her love to Ash and Ash to her, in a one-shot (Dead world, dead end <-shameless advertising, but hey, why not?)...so whilst I doubt it'll be in the game, I certainly wouldn't mind some Femshepley!

The last time I did that was when Halo 3 came out I was playing that for 30 hours strait. But from the looks of ME3 I think that it will take even longer, at least I hope it does after ME2 being so easy to complete even on insanity.

And it goes double for youtube I've waited all this time to see what happens with Ashley, I'm not going to cheat myself by watching a low grade video of a ME3 playthrough.
