Kaine: Ask your mother.
Shepard: Is there something that you wanted aside from punching me in the face?
Kaine: Yes, I was going to invite you and this fine lass here to dinner. We're not always all in the same place at once for your birthday, and your mother would certainly like to rip into you for that stunt you pulled.
Ashley: Which one? He's done hundreds. Hehe.
Shepard: The dying thing.
Ashley: Ah.
Shepard: So, Mum's here too is she?
Kaine: Yes, to my painful admittance.
Ashley: Oh, didn't she get promoted as well?
Kaine: Yes, she's a rear admiral now, and I'm a full admiral.
Shepard: So it's not just my birthday you're celebrating but your promotions too.
Kaine: And something else, if we're lucky.
Ashley: Something else?
Shepard: *Death glaring at Kaine, who is smiling innocently.*
Kaine: Come on. Your mother isn't going to wait forever.

You know what's funny? That trailer almost looks like ME3 gameplay graphics ...

I like the emotion on his face, he's really thinking about it before resolving himself and rejecting the distress call. And Ashley's expression was awesome. So touching and heart breaking.

I once wrote what Shep will get for Ash - and what Ash gives Shep. Double-Proposal. Besides that? I don't know. I don't think they'll give each other weapon mods and such ... maybe both simply want to spend some time together.

Shepard: Ash, I know we both need vacation, it's not the right time yet.
Ashley: Since we left Earth you were working. Six months without a single day off. That is not good.

Ashley: John, it can't wait. It's christmas ... and even you deserve a shore leave. Do you think you're going to find a weapon that destroys Reapers with ease in the next few days? 
Shepard: No, but that's not the point-
Ashley: It is. Believe me. Nothing you do now will end the Reaper thread. Not that mission on Noveria and not ten more missions. You need some days off. Chakwas told me that. Joker told me that. Heck, even Jack told me that "Shepard should get laid before he's exploding".
Shepard: Okay, okay, you've got a point. *intercom* Joker, set a course to the Citadel.
Joker: *intercom* Aye, course set.
Shepard: Happy now?
Ashley: *kisses Shepard* 
Shepard: I'll take it as a "yes".

Ashley definitely has something in her sleeves. She knows Shepard is about to go nuts if he can't have a couple of days time off. Really can see him stressing himself beyond his limits: long days of work, less than 4 hours of sleep each day, using drugs to stay awake ...

And just because Shepard knows every passing day increases to death toll by millions.

Yeah. I know the feeling of only functioning on maybe two hours sleep tops a day, but that stint only lasted for a week fortunately. Can't imagine going on for months at a time. I'm surprised that Shepard hasn't collapsed from fatigue or anything like that.

Uhh, I can function without more than five hours of sleep a night without getting tired. Reduce it by one hour should be possible by training. And maybe Shep can do it for months. Lets say, at the end of the war he'll be tired. All he wants is to be left alone with Ashley and the first thing he's doing is to sleep for a full week.

Ashley: Tired, sleepyhead?
Shepard: Yeah ... been up for 48 hours now. Need some time to rest.
Ashley: Feel free to come into my cabin, Skip, if you can't fall asleep.
Shepard: Thanks, Ash, I'll consider it.
Ashley: I'll keep my door open for you. Always.
Shepard: I owe you one ...
* Shepard sits down on a chair and suddenly falls asleep*
Ashley: Sleep well, John ... *kisses Shepard on forehead*

Id say at the end of the way, Shepard's gonna need a hell of a long time to get back into a restful state. Sleep debt is a hell of a hard thing to get rid of. I speak from experience. It's a pain in the ass.

Nah, I wasn't really complaining, it's good to know your limitations and you shouldn't write something you don't enjoy writing as much. It was more that both you and Data said you weren't able to keep it PG-13 . 
Also, nice dialogue!

@Mega; Hehe, that was pretty wild and steamy by the sound of it , I like how you set it up for a sequal, now I fear (and to some extent perhaps hope...) it'll never be buried!

Sure, why not? After all she -is- the first female human Spectre.
