I think both Ashley and Miranda will always do what they believe is "the right thing." But I think the right thing is definitely different than each others' idea what what is the right thing.

On the XO front I lean towards Miranda. Ash is like my Shepard's best friend, and while that's a good thing, to me that isn't exactly the best trait for an XO. Miranda is the Spock  to Shepard's Kirk she's pragmatic and logical while Shepard's more emotional. While she might not always agree with Shepard having an opinion from a different perspective.

Not necessarily, I think that would be different for each player.

For example,

My Shepard isn't the emotional one. He told Miranda to forget her sister since we have a mission to do. In that case Miranda was the emotional one whilst my Shepard is the pragmatic one.

@ the one poster talking about never seeing Ash use an SMG... why..

b/c Assault Rifle > Smg. lol

I like this assessment. I could see them being co-XO in a perfect world of a massive squad of the ME1&2 squaddies. at least thats how I'd do it. Neither has more authority of the other and they both run the ship when Shepard is off on ground excursions.Image IPB

IDK about that. I think that wouldn't work out at all. Someone needs to have the authority if Shepard isn't around otherwise when the two have a differing opinion on how to handle a mission the others will be split on who to follo based on which idea they like more and/or who they like better.

Ashley and Miranda would be a deadly combination.

Ever since Mass Effect 3 was announced. I was hoping I could use Miranda
and Ashley as Squad Members. Unfortunately looks like that's not going
to happen.

That was quite a dissapointing realisation for me aswell, otherwise they'd probably been my go to squad.

All this talk about Miranda and Ashley made me wonder about another squadmate...what about Jack and Ashley? How would they get along? I'm pretty sure Ashley would think of Jack as a maniac at first(not unreasonable), but as time passes, do you think they'd be friends enemies or just collegues?

competitive friends... even though Ash would always think of Jack as a little crazy. lol

I think deep down everyone loves the potential drama that Ashley and Miranda's first substantial on screen apperance together could entail. Really, who doesn't like drama? Being sweet is boring. Cooperation, to an extent, is boring. There's my unsolicited opinion on Ash and Miranda's direction in ME3.

Picks up where last dialogue ended.

Ashley: Everyone else might buy this courteous, self deprecating crap, but I don't. Exactly what do you think you're going to accomplish by indulging in some Margaret Thatcher meets Octop*ssy fantasy? You're going to prove yourself the better leader, the better woman?

Miranda: *Glares*

Ashley: You think a few confused months in Cerberus' clutches can - -

Miranda: - - Compete with your past? You mean a short string of superficial banters and tepid flirtations cushioned by a single anxious, terror fueled night together?  A puny affair obliterated after your first professional difference of opinion? That's your history isn't it? Spellbinding tale.

Ashley: *Glares*

And that's all I've got right now. Gotta pick this up again later. And I'd love it if a few of you guys joined temporarily joined the darkside. Someone has to have one tense dialogue between these two stowed away. If not, I'll make it my goal to get one of you boy wonders to take a walk on the wildside. It's all in good fun.

That's how I see them interacting... so some of us are on the darkside. ;)

However, I'm not one of the resident dialog writers.

Saying that someone can be cold isn't necessarily a bad thing in Miranda's line of work. Personally I think she's just fine, but her work definitely requires a certain amount of coolness and efficient detachment.

I preferred her cold prologue self to her warmer self that showed later in the game and with her sister.

But that's just me. lol

Why are WE discussing miranda in ashley thread. And since miranda is not Alliance she can not be XO on SSV Normandy. The only question ashley shepards XO or is she actually CO of Normandy due to the fact of shepards trial.

We were actually discussing both.  Don't scold.

Besides, since when is mentioning other characters and how they relate to or could relate to the one the thread is about, prohibited?  It's not.

That would be cool, but highly unlikely. Miranda is not Alliance. I just hope she does n ot turn into enemy of shepard and ash.

My shepard's are the ones that have her as permanent XO. as a Spectre shepard gets to designate her crew and Miranda is always XO when she's on the ship.Image IPB

yes that is correct, but do you really think that alliance will allow an ex cerberus officer to one of its ships. I do not think so. SO it is more likly that ashley is Normandy's XO. And as we kno so far Miranda is not an official squad mate. She might only have a cameo appirance like ash did in mE 2.

Quick Question to all ashley fans like me. Do you think that ash and shepard will have a great opening conversation aboard normandy as they leave earth and what would you expect if they did get it.

they're giving Shepard the ship back aren't they? used to be a Captain of a Cerberus vessel with cerberus crew. same with Joker, he used to be cerberus and he's still piloting the Normandy.

I get the feeling that if Shepard romanced Ash things onboard the Normandy are going to be awkward. There's the whole Horizon thing, and the Cerberus thing, and the fact that the killer robot apocalypse is going on. I think its going to take a little while for the two of them to be able to talk about what went on, much less where their relationship is going.

I'm still hopeful about future DLC's. Certainly one of the DLC's will come up with an excuse to put these two together.

YouthCultureForever that was a very well written Ashley/Miranda conflict. I would like to see more if you're planning to countinue it.

@ AD Legend as we seen in the trailer that they showed at the game, it does not look like they are giving the normandy bad to shepard. It is under command of Ashley. SHepard only gets reinstated in aliance by Anderson. Ans as Ash is spectre normany just might be her ship, not that my separd would compalain, but then ashley just might geve normandy back to shepard. she did say Welcome back shepard in trailer. So we will have to wait and see. And it also seems that joker is back in alliance to. Miranda is still not an alliance and even if she did she would not be an officer.

sucks, but i thought shepard would of recruited her to fight cerberus. simply because she was one of them and she might know more about them than shepard and im sure she owes shepard one.

Shepard's also a spectre, meaning "My ship my rules". Miranda Normandy XO.

Not necessarily...

Shepard can tell the council to shove their spectre status up their ass if he/she wants...
