You get to choose which weapons they use so just give ash an assault rifle and garrus a sniper or vice versa and voilla.

Cool.
I'm definetly giving her a shotgun.

I think you can only increase her damage with snipers and assault rifles. Though I might be wrong, it could be all weapon damage. It's a few pages back and I don't feel like looking.

To steal a thought from AdmiralCheez, I prefer the eyebrows on the original Ashley. Otherwise the new look is fine with me.

I don't really pay attention to little details like that, eyebrows don't weird me out unless they are just that noticeable. I can't see my eyes drawn to them naturally.

I do not think the eyebrows are noticeable really but the original Ashley's face does look stronger and forceful. I do not think the hair is the difference. Maybe my opinion will change when we see Ashley in an aggressive situation in ME3.

really there's not enough there to complain about at all. The skin color looks weird but that's just because the lighting in that leaked beta was awful.

I'm just happy they cared enough to show some character progression this time. They could have just kept her exactly the way she was and everyone would have complained as well.

The problem with BSN is that you have no way of knowing if "everyone" is complaining or if it is just a few whining over and over and over again.

As for the lighting I wonder how much the film grain look to ME1 affects the pictures.

Bah, I wish they kept her original skin color. Probably the biggest thing that'll bug me about her. <_<
Oh, well. Ash is Ash, and that's all I need to know.

Edit: Funny how I didn't think of the horrible lighting at first. Hopefully it will be corrected in the demo and then the game itself.

They did. The lighting just sucks (it's almost completely absent) in the leaked beta.

Ashley: Are you alright? You look like your getting paler by the minute.
Shepard: Yeah. I'm - actually no, I'm not at all. I've haven't been 'alright' since we set foot on this station.
Ashley: I can't imagine that recording made you feel any better.
Shepard: Being described as 'Salvageable' like some experimental subject? No, it doesn't help at all. What it implied doesn't make me feel all that much better either.
Ashley: Do you want to keep going? I was expecting you to feel crappy, but I didn't expect to see you looking like your about to bring up your last meal.
Shepard: We'll move on. I may not want to be here, but when I start something, I commit to the end.
Ashley: Ok, we'll move further in.
Shepard: So, It looks like I was dead after all.
Ashley: Do you... remember?
Shepard: ... I - no. It just felt like I was passing out, 'cept I had pretty much guaranteed myself that I wasn't gonna wake up.
Ashley: Damn....
Shepard: Sorry.
Ashley: It's fine, guess that big question doesn't get answered today.
Shepard: 'Fraid not.
Ashley: You're just useless in your own brilliant way, aren't you?
Shepard: Stop teasing me.
Ashley: But I love teasing you, it's so fun, 'specially when you're in one of your brooding moods.
Shepard: I don't brood!
Ashley: *nods* Oh, yes you do.
Shepard: I don't!
Ashley: Yes. You. Do. Now shut up, which way?
Shepard: Left.
Ashley: Let's go.
Shepard: You first, M'lady.
Ashley: How chivalrous, Mr Shepard.
Shepard: Only for you.
Ashley: *giggles*
*A few seconds of silence later*
Shepard: Ash?
Ashley: Uh huh?
Shepard: Thanks.
Ashley: Don't mention it, Skipper. Let's see if we can fine out anything more.

I hate to break it but Miranda's a sentinel. No way in hell she loses to Ashley.

Heavily depends on the way they're fighting. Biotics are over- and underpowered at the same time. Miranda's direct fighting skills are reduced to Pistol- and SMG-usage - Ashley can use every weapon avaiable, including heavy weapons and sniper rifles.

First of all, keep in mind biotics got gimped - they can't be used against any kind of defense anymore. Don't have the table here, but I know several biotic attacks require shields lowered. As long as Ashley can keep her shield charged, Miranda relies only on her normal firepower.

SHORT RANGE (<50m)
Miranda may win. SMGs deplete shields quickly and once they're gone, Ashley is minced meat.

MEDIUM RANGE (<150m)
Almost even fight. Ashley might win this one since range of Miranda's SMG is limited and won't take down Ashley's shields fast enough. That gives her enough time to aim and take down Miranda with either her assault or the sniper rifle.

LONG RANGE (>150m)
Hands down - Miranda will be dead. There's no way she can deplete Ashley's shields - and Ash is a crackshot. Even if Miranda can reduce that range by several dozen meters, she'd be dead in the end.

As I said, biotics are heavily overrated sometimes since they're kinda situational. Just my -very- short analysis. In any of my playthroughs I rather rely on firepower than tech skills and biotics. They come in handy, sure, but they don't decide the battle that often I'm used from ME1.
In ME1 biotics were necessary ... that's why I always had either Wrex, Kaidan or Liara in most fights.

And that's the fair analysis - without making Miri "worse than she is" or raising Ashley to "incredible awesomeness". Just stats & knowledge and how things work in ME2 / ME3. Also I'd like to add to the record Miranda died quite frequently in combat: think not even Tali got downed that often, and she has the nasty tendency to go right into the middle of the fight like Grunt. Lets ignore ME2's poor squadmate AI ... Miranda's tactic skills are more theoretical than practical - which also might turn the favor towards Ashley.

I think Data has hit the nail on the head here. It's definitely a situational thing. I mean, just b/c someone has biotics doesn't make it an insta-win against someone who doesn't. And Ashley, being the veteran soldier that she is, is smart enough to know not to take her on up-close, but to take her out from her effective range.

You're both forgetting that sentienls are biotic/tech class. Miranda picked up an Asari (natural biotic) and hurled her nealry a hundred feet, her tech attackscan be used to shut down every gun in ashley's aresenal and strip away her armor to get better shots making her allthe more lethal as she's a jill of all trades. ashley relies on her weapons and that is the downfall of the soldier class. All guns nothing else.

Except that Miranda and Ashley wouldn't fight one another..and a soldier is never defenseless. CQC and durability would see them last a lot longer than a sentinel.

I miss her original hair. Soldiers don't have long brown locks on the battlefield. Because **** like that can get grabbed, pulled, and yanked out.

Ashley is a Soldier. She seems like she'd be much more practical. Maybe one of her outfits will be the original pink atrocity. With her original hair.

She becomes a Spectre and is no longer required to follow the dress regulation (with hair length).  I can only see her other hair for when she planned to wear a helmet.

I much prefer her look in ME3, I think it shows she has changed as well as matured.  Not to mention she shows off her sex appeal but not overtly so like Miranda in ME2.

Was there any sort of confirmation or proff that we can put Ash's hair in a bun or not?

I don't know. I thought she had plenty of sex appeal with her hair pulled back. Goddamn knows her neck is gorgeous, and her hair doesn't need to hide her eyes. And I don't agree that it shows she's matured - Ash has always been a soldier through and through and through. Unless she's a sniper, I don't see the purpose of having her hair down.

She's always been close combat slugger. And close combat sluggers cut or tie their hair back, lest they get their heads yanked off.
