Shepard: Thank you. So ... what's our agenda for today?
Ashley: Not much. Actually, we have a meeting with the Fifth. Admiral Hackett is expecting you at 11am today, we'll make it till 10. He said there's something or someone special waiting for you - and that's it. So don't expect any explosions today, John.
Shepard: A day off, huh? Not for me. Someone has to save this galaxy - millions will die if-
Ashley: I know, kay? However, you won't save our galaxy if you're burning out. You need a day off. And I can't see a better opportunity than your birthday.
Shepard: No way to get out of this?
Ashley: No way. Chakwas told me to ensure you won't work today. That's my job. Or ... lets say I handed it over to Joker. I took today off too.
Shepard: You know, I love you. At least one of us is still sane ...
Ashley: I'm just good with dates. That's all ... wait ... this didn't sound appropriate, right?
Shepard: Nope, it sounded right. You're totally perfect with dates.
Ashley: *smiles* ... okay, now get up, Skip. We have lots of stuff to do till 11am.
Shepard: Yes Ma'am.
Ashley: One more thing, Skipper ... I have something for you. It's a bit old ... and actually, I wanted to give it to you that birthday ... uhh yeah ... kinda before you died. Here ... have this one - your three best friends made it for you. It's a bit sad ... since we made it before that Virmire mission ...


You guys now I'm glad I missed the conversation on lower end of last page, right?
And yes, doing it the right way is always good. Now ... lets move on.

Oh, I definitely want a more intimate romance scene. Maybe the good ol' naked-beneath-the-blanked talk with a bare-chest!Shepard and a bare-shoulders!Ash: pillow talk before and after the deed sounds nice.

Also I definitely want more generic interaction between Shep / Ash. Just random banter, once their romance is renewed: some flirty comments, some family stories, some stuff about their past, maybe a kiss or two ... just daily stuff that shows their close relationship. And please, please, no "calibrations". Random banter is much better than "sorry, can't it wait", even if it's repeating after a while.

In worst case, it looks like that:

Shepard: Hey Ash, do you have a minute?
Ashley: Sorry, Skip, can't it wait? Someone has to clean my armor ...
Shepard: I should go now.

In best case, it could look like that:

Shepard: Hey Ash, have a minute?
Ashley: Sure, Skip. I just thought about the war ... it's going bad, isn't it? With every passing day the toll is growing and growing ...
Shepard: I know - and I wish I could do anything against it.
Ashley: You do. You just can't be at every place at the same time.
--> [WAR ASSETS LOW]
Shepard: Yeah. We're still losing to much, it's not looking good, not at all.
Ashley: You'll turn the tide of war. I know that. *smiles at Shepard*
Shepard: Thank you.

--> [WAR ASSETS MED]
Shepard: Yeah. At least we start to win some smaller fights. Still not perfect, but good enough for a start.
Ashley: You'll turn the tide of war, you already did something. People have hope again. And hope keeps you fighting. Use that for our advance, Skipper *smiles & kisses Shepard at cheek*

Shepard: Yes. Think we're making progress. At  least we can hope now to defeat some of those Reapers without too many losses.
Ashley: You did a great job keeping the galaxy together. I think we have a real chance now ... thank you, Skipper ... for everything *shares a long, passionate kiss*


Something like that. Ashley's reaction changes with progress of war assets, so that very same random banter turns out differently every single time. Now imagine that with maybe 4 different dialogues, you'll end with 12 different outcomes ... and that's much better than "Sorry, calibrations!"

Or maybe therr will be an option just to walk up behind her and kiss her or at a particular point in the game she'll visit your quarters or just pull you aside to 'check in progress' or for 'private inspections'.

Or maybe you'll just get the same options with your love interest that you get in ME2. Although Bioware did state that there would be MORE. But I think they're only talking about the date scenes which everybody already kind of knows about.

MBE we went through some of the stuff - and half of it looked like random banter. Guess Ashley's romance is going to have several random moments which are not scripted like dialogues for romance development (same for Kaidan or Liara - the guys you'll have around for most parts of the game).

However, I really love the idea your LI has special comments regarding the current state of the war. The better Shepard performs to get the fleets together, the more reward you'll get from your LI. Sounds like a great deal to me. :innocent:

It's hard to tell, really. Half of the stuff is missing. I'm 99% sure you can still call your love interest up to your cabin again, though. If so, Ashley will never leave my Shepards. Pack and all night bag your stayin.

And.....

It's basically, like 15 days until we get the demo. Apparently we'll not see the Mars mission. So I'll be able to play it after all

I love that. Wait .. no ... I admire that attitude. You know, in times of lies and political correctness, a dead honest character is really refreshing. Ashley IS this character: she dishes out what she's currently thinking. No nice words. Just the truth.

@ MBE: definitely, my Ashley won't need to sleep alone anymore once the romance is renewed. Shep & Ash will share several weeks in the same bed. Every. Single. Night.

How they act, how they think. I judge a person by the actions I witness, not what the gods in the marble halls seem to think. Like every Commanding officer should.

I tried to continue that one 2 years later but really failed in that attempt I'm not sure how things work out under Kaine's command. At least he seems to like her. ^^

Nah, I had something different in mind, Aurora.

Kaine and General Williams where friends. Kaine became a legend on Shanxi while Williams got all the sh*t thrown at him. Kaine thinks the Alliance treated Williams unfair but never had the influence to do anything against it. Same applies for most of the soldiers in William's unit: they claim he did it to save as much lives as possible.

Thought it was a nice idea to make Kaine & Ashley talking about it in a "may I speak freely" session two years later. However, it didn't turn out well ... was awfully boring <_<


Think Kaine likes Ashley because she reminds him a bit of himself: she could earn the name "Iron Williams" one day. Also Kaine believes she might make it to the Navy one day and will give his recommendation if needed. Since he has a good connection to Admiral Hackett, that might explain why it was so easy to transfer Ashley to the Normandy shortly after the evens on Eden Prime.

Overall Kaine respects Ashley since she's a lot like him. Just younger and female.

You can follow through with that if you want to. Sounds entertaining.

My version of him gains his reputation through sheer restlessness in combat and command, Shanxi was a huge part of that, but not the whole story. I'm working on the plot right now. Plan to write it soon. But I suppose he would feel empathy for Ash, as would Pierce and Shepard. Their family gets the glory, and hers gets the grit.

Doesn't sound too bad. Still "space-racist" but at least they tried to be a bit fair.
Which is still a great step forward. Game magazines simply make Ash to a "racist" and never bothered with her character anymore. Liara all the way >.>
