Yep. My Shepard was good buddies with Ashley. Really liked that woman.

Ashley always talked about saving her family's legacy, and her willingness to do anything to show the galaxy how a real Williams gets things done for the Alliance.

Between the two of them - Kaiden and Ashley - She was the most certain and ready to die. The glory of saving the galaxy that time belonged to her.

yup. I alternate between them. Ashley gets saved. Kaidan get saved. and so on for as long as I keep playing.

Shepard: I don't think you can do it. "No coffee" - thought you can't work without your caffeine shot?
Ashley: Do I look like I'm in a working condition, Skip?
Shepard: Not really. Nevertheless, we have an agenda today: some random Cerberus base here in the middle of nowhere.
Ashley: *groans* ... and this job has to do -what- with the great picture? Why are we here, hunting down Cerberus operatives?

Shepard: Liara says they're researching a device how to control Husks in that base. That's why we're here. We try to get that device - it may help.

Ashley's head meets the table with a loud thud.

I switch up who the VS is. Usually Ash lives if I romance Liara since she dies when I romance Kaidan anyways...figure its a fair trade off

I wish that there were some way to save Kaiden. Even with Pierce there, Shepard could only save one.... -.- Ashley was that one... leads to rather confrontational and loud argument... remember the VS conversation I wrote a couple mouths back?

I want Ash in an ME4 as the main character possibly trying to get Shepard back depending on which ending bioware considers 'canon'. That, or there's that Halcyon scenario I've been playing with, she's trying to sort through a 'verse that's gone to hell and is failing badly at it.

The first time I played ME1, because I fell so quickly in love with the Turians, Asari, Quarians, etc. I immediatly got offended when Ashley said she wasn't comfortable trusting them so quickly with full access to the ship. Coupled that with the fact I was romancing Kaidan, I didn't like Ashley very much.

In one of my more recent ME1 playthrough however, I opted to sacrifice Kaidan instead to romance Liara, I payed more attention to Ashley and what she had to say. She can be a little in your face sometimes, but she's what I loved in a woman. Strong, dedicated with a strong relationship with her father. Sexy in her personality and strength rather than how much skin she shows.

I'm replaying my canon Shepard in preperation for ME3 and, I kid you not, CRIED during the scene on Virmire when Ashley sacrifices herself with the bomb. It's giving me more of a reason to kick Saren's ass now and I can't wait to do my MaleShepXAshley playthrough.

Yeah, Ash is a woman you need to meet twice before you know she's what you were looking for. At least that's for me, since my first Shepard romanced Liara but never finished ME1 (stopped at Virmire).
My first full playthrough Shepard picked Ashley ... and since that day I'm fallen for her. ^^

After a while you realize it's a game where you can prtty much start all over again whenever you want. Plus all the decisions depend on the content you see so I want to get all the content that's on the disk.

Sure.
But some stuff remains the same. In my case I'll always feel bad sacrificing Ashley for Kaidan - and I want to give him a chance too.

And some characters simply don't do it for me - so why romancing them

Because the writers worked hard to create them. I've romanced every love interest and I appreciate their romance paths. I don't want a writers hard work to be for naught.

Technically, they didn't work for nothing, AD ^^
I know exactly for every LI I don't romance 100k others will. So every LI gets his or her chance *g*
Can see where you come from 'though.
For me it's basically the same reason why I can't go full renegade: it's not the way how I enjoy the game and I enjoy some LIs far less than my fave *g*

Ashley dies on Virmire as well adn it's that kind of closemindedness that ends up having fan bases hate each other because they feel they don't need to talk to a certain character becuase they talk to another. the BSN would be a much better place if everyone experienced romances themselves instead of seeing one path on youtube.

Now, Kaidan died on Virmire only in my current playthroughs. It's not said he'll die in one or more future playthroughs. Some decisions will be always the same for me, regardless of the Shepard.

Just to name some:
- Samara will always survive that "meeting" with her daughter
- the ME2 cast will always make it through the SM as whole
- I'll always take down the CB

Kaidan is different since I like his character. I'm not sure if I'm going to start a m!Shep playthrough that either goes for Liara at the beginning - or one that has Ashley but leaves her behind on Virmire. Virmiring Ashley makes room for new romances in ME2 / ME3, so maybe I'll do one. Liara fits more to a f!Shep for me :innocent:


So wouldn't say it's close-mindedness or something - just have my fave gaming style which I try to keep.
