No one seems liek they're a desk type in their twenties. Ashley's in her wenties so she still full of energy and enthusiam for ground combat but as i said she can mature and mellow out in her alter years provided she survives the reaper war. Anyone can become a desk type. Anyone.

I never saw myself in management but here I am with many years doing what was never on my "to do list" or radar ... Because of my life experience and "never say never", I see Ash going into politics. Life not only is full of surprises but also has a great sense of humor.

PV Shepard would be really proud of her gaining self-confidence and self-worth, supportive on the days that she has melt-downs and would get urges to make out with her after seeing her give a speech. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Posted Image

I don't see Ashley or Shepard behind a desk.

Thinking of how big the war will be and the damage it will cause and the loss there will be there will need to be some rebuilding efforts. Lots in fact. I can see Ashley and Shepard taking prominent roles in helping to rebuild things. Whether that means mobilizing troops for aiding refugees on Earth or going into the private sector I see them still wanting to do good.

Wars, even after they're over are not over. Rebuilding means there will still be violence and lots of people who want to take advantage of the misery of others. Be it the Alliance or some new form of military (perhaps one that incorporates all species) they will need leaders and fresh recruits and trainers and such.

I can see both Ashley and Shepard taking on the roles of training and/or coordinating ground troops for the long term protection of settlements, colonies and resources, etc.

Might there be some desk work involved? Sure. Maybe not much. But as long as they're using their clout to make a difference I think they'd welcome the quiet on occasion.

I see my Shepard and Ashley really taking stock of what's really important in life after the war. It's then that the dreams of extraordinary people might finally turn to the ordinary: work that benefits the world, family, friends, love, that sort of thing.

That's how I see it anyway. :)

Or they could just run off to Inta'sai (or whatever the name of that Bring Down The Sky place is) for a few years.

Or forever :)

I definitely think right after after everything Shepard will want a couple weeks of down time.  Inta'sei would be perfect for that.  :)  But I don't see either of themd disappearing for long.  They have a sense of duty to make the world a better place and that will likely be a part of whatever they do next.

I can't wait to see the ending to the Ash romance.

I'm very happy she is my canon romance. :D

Jill: that's a nice start ^^ Keep up the good work and get Ashley's affection *g*

@ Deskjob!Ashley

As I said: most likely not, however, Ash seems to be the type who wants to settle down once the mission is over. Dunno why, but she definitely doesn't want to continue the life as soldier forever. Same for Shepard, however, he's a "duty-comes-first" guy. Means: if he survives the mission, he definitely will do what's needed to rebuild the galaxy.
Can see his job as diplomat but also as "firefighter" if things go wrong. A lot of colonies will sink into anarchy, pirates & other criminals will use the lack of military presence to do their "job" and old alliances might fall apart; in short: Shepard is needed as Spectre & Hero to keep together what's left after the Reaper War.
And of course he needs Ashley on his side: she gives him strength to deal with all that sh*t. Think it's worse for him to see the galaxy falling apart then fighting the Reapers, and that's why he needs Ashley as his beacon.

Ashley on the other side won't leave him until his job is done, despite the fact she wants to settle down one day. She's a family person after all, therefore, I can see her settling down once she hits 35 - 40. And she'll return to the Colony of her family (if it still exists) to be close to what's most important to her. Just for the record: Shepard knows that and puts all of his energy into duty to fulfill her wish.

@JillHawke's picture.

Ashley: John!
Shepard: Ash- *gets tackled with a hug* Ashley!
Ashley: My god, John! I thought you were dead!
Shepard: Again, you mean. I'm so sorry. Had no other choice.
Ashley: *pulls away, punching his chest.* You stupid, crazy son of a b!tch! *hugs him again*
Shepard: I'm sorry, I'm ok. We're ok.
Ashley: You do that again, and even the deepest circles of hell won't be safe for you!
Shepard: *presses his forehead to hers, whispers* I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.
Ashley: Just... get me a message next time, alright?
Shepard: *kisses her softly* I promise.
Ashley: I don't like thinking you're dead.
Shepard: I don't like you thinking it either. I'm incredibly sorry.
Ashley: *nods, teary eyes* You better make up for this!
Shepard: I swear.
Ashley: Good. 'cause -
Shepard: Deepest circle of hell, got it.
Ashley: Keep it in mind solider.

Cute :-)

Shepard: Ash ... wake up. It's almost 8. You overslept.
Ashley: *groans* ... what, it's 8 already? Great. First day as XO and I'm too late ...
Shepard: *snickers* I think the captain won't mind. After all, he overslept as well.
Ashley: Yeah - seems so, my Captain *smiles*
Shepard: *hits intercom button* Liara, we'll have our meeting at 10 instead of 8:30 today.
Liara: *intercom* Understood, Shepard. Any reason why you postponed the meeting?
Shepard: *looks at Ashley* ... yeah ... serious business I fear. Something that can't be delayed. *looks at Ashley again and snickers*
Liara: *intercom* Okay. 10am logged in. Liara, out.
Ashley: "Serious business?"
Shepard: Yep - I prepared breakfast for you. It comes in two parts ... *smiles sheepishly*
Ashley: And which part contains the food? I'm starving ...
Shepard: The first one. Glad you asked ... almost mixed up both.
Ashley: "Subtle". Why do I know what's going to be the second part?
Shepard: Because you know me?
Ashley: No, Skipper. Because I allow it. And because I demand it.
Shepard: God, stop using Sovereign's lines. I hated them so much back on Virmire ...
Ashley: *snickers*

*a little later*
Ashley: ... that's why I love you, Skip. Whatever you do, you do it the right way.
Shepard: *snickers* You're the very reason why I'm giving my best.
Ashley: Don't feel flattered, soldier! You still may need some extra exercises *smirks*
Shepard: Mind to put another exercise session on our agenda? Maybe 8pm?
Ashley: *laughs* sorry, Captain, but that's not possible. Make it 10pm and I'm in.
Shepard: Sure. What's on your table at 8?
Ashley: A date with you. Dinner, talking, dancing. Heard Joker is a decent DJ.
Shepard: Didn't know that. Count me in for that date.
Liara: *intercom* Would you two lovebirds attent our meeting?! It's already 10 past 10.
Ashley: Uhh ... we forgot the time again?
Shepard: Seems our breakfast took a bit longer than I thought.
Ashley: Yeah, that part two ... always the same with you, Skip. Always.
Shepard: *hits intercom button* We're on our way, Liara.
Liara: *intercom* We're waiting. Liara out.
Ashley: We definitely should stop doing that.
Shepard: Having breakfast together?
Ashley: No - just oversleeping and "doing the deed". The crew could get suspicious.
Shepard: Liara knows. She's the Shadow Broker after all. And I bet Joker knows too.
Ashley: You're kidding me, Skip, right? Please say you're kidding. If not, you're tactless.
Shepard: Sorry, I fear I'm not.
Ashley: God, half of the crew must see me as some kind of "Captain's pet" or so.
Shepard: Lets hope not.
Ashley: I can see Joker asking you: "Had a nice night with Ash, huh?"
Shepard: He's far more polite than you may know.
Ashley: "Polite"? Joker?
Shepard: Usually he is. Whatever. I'm sure no one minds we're spending the nights together. After all, we're a couple, right?
Ashley: Right. Doesn't mean half of the crew needs to know when we do our exercises.
Shepard: Yeah ... yeah maybe you're right. Lets go. Before they starting to thing we're still in the middle of something.
Ashley: Indeed. Move it, Skipper!

Gah! Can't wait to be typing on a real keyboard again. I hate my phone. Writhing Shepley dialogue is so hard on this damn thing....

Oh well, this time next week, I won't have a care in the world... least time I get Ash on the SR2. I simply cannot wait

I know exactly what you're feeling. A life without a proper keyboard is hard, especially if your thoughts are breeding a new story or something. Hey ... talking about story ...

Pierce: That sounds like John.
Ashley: Guess so, yeah. He has a talent for creating beautiful moments - just to crash them the next sentence.
Pierce: I warned you, Ash: don't meddle with John, except you like a good challenge. Maybe I should have told it more precisely: mission impossible.
Ashley: Hey, I love him. He's so incredible cute when he's trying to be romantic. And he's even more adorable when pulling cheap lines and all that.
Pierce: John ... yeah. The girls called him "Awkward Jonny" back in the good ol' times. Or simply "McNerd". Oh man, those girls were really cruel. Things got worse when I tried to protect my "brother".
Ashley: You protected Skipper? How that?
Pierce: I broke her arm. Ironic ... the girl was called Ashley. Ashley Smithers or something. Really mean brat. That entire story brought three things: Iron-"I'm an awful dad"-Kaine was darn proud of me and called me his "favorite daughter he never had". John got even less respect for the next two years, but at least they didn't touch him anymore. And I had to spend two weeks in jail. It was worth it. *smirks*
Ashley: Wow. He never told me about that part of his childhood.
Pierce: Do you really wonder? John had much to learn before he became the one you love today.
Ashley: Seems so. Lemme guess - the one who taught him becoming awesome was a girl, right?
Pierce: Yep. I gave him some lessons how to deal with such people. And I gave him some lessons how to flirt the -right- way without making a fool of himself. It took a while.
Ashley: I definitely should ask Skip about his past.
Pierce: He won't tell you - but I can. If you want to hear the full story *smiles*
Ashley: Definitely.
Pierce: Good. Takes some time, but yeah. Lets say, I managed to make him to a real pimp. And he finally got that girl ... that Ashley Smithers. Think they were together for two months or so. Whatever. It didn't last long when I surprised them ... uhhh ... forget that part. *laughs*
Ashley: Very funny. Trying to get me on the bad side with stories about John's f*cks?
Pierce: Don't worry. He wasn't that bad once I pimped him. ... okay, he was bad enough. For a year or two. Guess he had to blow off some steam. After all he was 16 or so. THAT age.

...

You can explore that one if you like ;)
Must say I kinda used parts of my own experience. Except I never had a Rox helping me with the girls. But the "awkward-with-women"-stuff is real.
Also I like the idea Shepard wasn't always the sly dude he's now. He had a bad time where he lacked charisma of any kind ... and maybe he had a friend (Pierce) that helped him to get better.
Uhh and the "little boy" of Shepard is still a bit like that: awkward.

Ashley should have some nice long talks with him about his past. On the other hand, her own past is incredible interesting as well: the "Williams Sisters" ^^

No. She's from USA or has parents from USA when born in a colony. There is a hispanic influence, however.
