No. She's from USA or has parents from USA when born in a colony. There is a hispanic influence, however. 

 

I'm guessing her but  I would say maybe a   Afro-latin mix going on there  just from the look...    I have  friend that is of Afro-cuban descent  both her and  Ashely  skin tones are  very similar.

But I always imagined Ash as someone with a widespread family tree including several European & American branches so it's very likely at least one member of her family (parent / grandparent) could also come from Spain.

This is true as well.... genes in interesting like that sometimes some features are more dominate than others  especially in those of mix  backgrounds.

Know what? The best part of Ashley is that's so easy to enjoy her once you know her better. Things get better and better the more time you spend with her, canonical and fanonical. I just wonder what her original writer thinks about the stuff we're adding to her character (like caffeine addiction or the fact she's bad at writing poems). Does he approve? Does he dislike most of our ideas?

Just wondering. After all, the imagine of Ashley we have in our mind is quite different from the Ash we know from ME1. Sure, dialogues are the same, but a lot of traits, flaws and quirks we gave her never made it into the game.

Also I wonder if BW's current writing team is/was watching us. Just imagine if they added some of the stuff we created to Ashley's character? If Ash pulls the line "I love my coffee tough, hot and with less than a spoon of sugar" or something similar, I know BW used something I made up in my mind ^^

Me and my bro was down the street today and I managed to convince him to cough out the cash for BF3. I thought I was getting some early Ashley, then when we got home I realized that it was only early access to the new multiplayer. Why god!? Why are you so cruel?!

...Oh, well. Only 7 more days to go. I can do it! *_*

@Data, I really hope they don't take EVERYTHING from us. Some of the stuff we write in here is weird and just plain wrong, and not very Ashley at all. If Ashley and Shepard's final romance scene is in the inside and elevator I will hold myself personally responsible. Sorry. =/

I'm not saying "everything" - just some of the stuff that really fits to Ashley. We have a tendency to overdo things here, so ... you get the picture. But I definitely love to see something taken from the fandom into Ashley's character. Doubt it's going to be her caffeine addiction *g*

Well, i wouldn't mind the Rachni you allow to live come into play in ME3, like against the Reapers or something. Who knows, maybe you are down and have little chance of escape and just as the Reapers are going to attack, wham. Whole army of Rachni come and save you.

Just a thought.

But as this is an Ashley thread, yay for those who saved her on Vermire and are keeping loyal to her in ME2.

I don't think writers like to steal stuff  (well some do, but I like to think they write their own stuff, not that I would mind if they'd steal a line.) the writer could've checked here a couple of times, to see what fans of the character think maybe, but ultimately, we don't know. They aren't very active on this forum at least.

@ Brain: Lemme say it this way - if not romanced, Ash might feel really friendly towards Vega if he returns the feelings to her as well. And I'm pretty sure Vega -HAS- feelings for her. Check out his look - and also keep in mind the question: "Do you know the Commander?" He was so totally checking out if Ashley confesses something. Huh?

Vega+Ashley? Totally possible.
Then again: Kaidan+Ashley was also quite possible before Virmire XD

We'll have to disagree on that. =P First, Vega is not checking her out. It’s more of a hard stare, figuring out the situation kinda look.

Second, well… whatever O.o

The way I see it, Ashley's the kind of woman who keeps her heart locked away most of the time. She doesn't open up easily and she doesn't jump in quick either… unless it's a fight. She's cautious. Although I can see them being buddies. Vega fills her old role as the “grunt” of the squad this time around. And I can’t see them being anything more. Vega seems to me like the normal, usual soldier type, so that means they’ll have some competition going on there. Maybe a little rivalry since they’re both two Alliance soldiers, and Ashley doesn't like to lose. If Vega starts boasting, she might even find him annoying. It all depends.

I know Ashley was flirty with maleShep in ME1, but somehow I doubt she'll be like that in ME3. She's grown up as they say. She's an officer/Commander/Spectre now. She's gotta step up and be that example now that everybody's watching. If Ashley’s got a new man, I hope it's some other guy assigned to a different ship or at least somebody who isn't Alliance... Like Garrus. I hope she'd be professional that way, I'd be disappointed in her otherwise.

Kaidan and Ashley? Nope, I got no signs of that at all. I don't understand why people would think it was more. It wasn't. They got on like typical soldiers. Of course, now in ME3, when either of them looks back, they’ll always remember that one person who gave their life for the mission, saving theirs in the process.

^ yeah, but you don't know if Ash & Vega have a history. After all, Vega asks her when he realized the look she gave Shepard. And that means they never talked about it before. It also looks like as if Vega and Ash know each other for a while.
