Oh jeeze, I hadn't even noticed that. Way to go, Bioware. 
Shepard never bothered me, even with the new default, since the look is customizable.
But a soldier with loose hair? An officer uniform that includes a miniskirt and an ass window?
Not to mention most of the designs for the other female characters.
I kinda feel like I'm being talked down to, here.

Dunno, I don't have issues with that. In ME1 you had to decide between several "re-painted" armors which all looked the same ^^

Not every important character needs an own hand-crafted individual armor. This is no anime, you know

Honestly? Complaining about her hair of all things is to me the most pointless. Let me ask you this: how easy do you think it would be to cram a bun in a helmet? Look at female air force pilots; they wear their hair short with no fancy buns, braids, or what have you.

The bun looked clean. It looked professional, made Ashley seem businesslike. It made her character stand out as dutiful. But at the end of the day, she could NEVER wear that bun were she a real soldier in the ME universe. First, making it in the morning takes too long. Second she can't fit in a helmet like that and wearing a helmet, like a modern day pilot, is part of the job.

It was a calculated presentation of her character by the devs and was never practical. So complaining about her newly long hair getting in the way is just silly.

Now you CAN argue that the letting down of the hair to present a more comely appearance IS a problem if that is how you feel. That's perfectly valid.

Can someone explain to me why loose hair is such a big deal? Seriously, it's not like mass effect has ever been the epitomy of realistic sci-fi. And she wears the N7 armour..so what? Is it bad armour? I mean, yeah it's not unique, but is that such a big deal?

Would it have been better if she kept phoenix armour, because I don't think that would've made any difference.

Isn't Kaidan's armor also a repainted N7 male armor? Or at least a modified variant?

Whatever, I don't really care if Ashley's armor is "just repainted stuff". I'm happy she has her own armor and won't go into battle in a catsuit or something.

Ashley has a unique outfit too next to her armour, why does it matter hers isn't brand new and Kaidan's might be? It's hardly preferential treatment.

It seems to me that both Ashley and Kaidan look at Shepard in that "longing" kind of way even if they aren't romanced. Hope they don't do a "Liara" if you get my drift. No need to turn it weird now.

Kaidan doesn't get a "new" outfit like Ashley's officer jacket. He's wearing the same as Shepard.

I don't think we can choose stuff like that, but then again I'm not a reliable source in this regard whatsoever.

And unless Bioware doesn't understand Ash and Kaidan anymore they have no reason to do that. "I don't need a knight in shining armour" doesn't sound very clingy. Liara had reason to do so, she did have a bit of an obsession with Shepard as she admits herself. I wouldn't really worry about that myself.

It's top of the line armor. In case you didn't notice, they mass produce the armor models. You don't see a lot of unique stuff.

Is it weird I'm glad my fiancee will be gone for a night next week so I can play that demo? Yup. She'll have a sleepover in her parents' house ...

Definitely need a healthy shot of Ashley goodness. I'm starving ... longing ... for Ash.

This. She's wearing Shepard's old style of armor and that's head of the curve. Enemies in ME2 were still wearing Me1 style armors. Shepard also got upgraded armor so Ashley's look is hers alone same with Kaidan.

Yeah, the Mars scene works only for me if romanced!Ashley. God damnit ... I want her back. She belongs to Shepard like the wind to the ocean, she's needed like oxygen to keep a fire running and she's the one that keeps him balanced.

The more pleasant stuff is a fu(a)n survey:

1. Is Ashley the first LI you romanced in the ME series? Nope. I played a Femshep first and romanced Kaidan.

2. Is Ash your only romance in the series or did you go after other characters as well? Kaidan as stated above. I also have femshep who romanced Thane. I only have one dudeshep and I can't really picture him with anyone but Ash so...

3. Lets say Ashley is a real woman, living right the next door. You know she's currently single. Could you ask her for a date? No date, but I would ask her to be my friend and hang out for beers.

4. You managed to ask Ashley for a date. What kind of date would you have with her? See aforementioned beers.

5. Lets say the date is a success. What's your next step? More beers?

6. The HONEST question: would you do an ONS (one-night stand) with Ashley? Probably not personally. I'm straight. ....Though I mean if she brought it up I might have to think about it. I'm pretty sure my husband would understand. hehe

7. Somehow you managed to get close to her and you have to meet Ashley, her sisters and her mother. What's the first thing you have in mind while looking at her mother, Ashley, Abby, Lynn and Sarah? How much Ashley and Sarah share their mother's darker more Latina traits and Abby and Lynn obviously look more like their fairer skinned dad (in my head canon anyway).

8. Lets go back to the beginning: you want to date Ashley but your ideas and opinions are entirely different to hers. Would you still date her? I would still be friends with her. Lots of my friends have different ideas and opinions than I do.

9. It turns out Ashley is a tough soldier in R/L as well. She's Sergeant of a unit that fought in several battles. She tells you about some stuff. Would you still date her, especially in case you never served in the Army? Do you think Ashley might be interested in you? Mostly I would be totally engrossed in her amazing combat tales. And of course would lend an ear if she needed to talk about something.

10. Does your favorite book meet Ashley's taste? I feel like Ash is probably a fan of books in general.
