She does look pretty good, since the demo doesn't consider romances I'll be hoping and imagining a better first meeting than what transpired.

Would you be more comfortable if she were wearing this?

I like it personally, but I've always been partial to some scruff. Wouldn't mind if he shaved a bit though. Really doesn't matter what we think though, all that matters is Ashley;'s opinion.

Ashley: *giggling*
Shepard: Ashley! Stop it!
Ashley: I can't help it, your scruff is so fluffy.
Shepard: It's not!
Ashley: It is!
Shepard: F*ck it, I'm shaving.
Ashley: Aw! Come on! It's cute!
Shepard: Enough Ash.
Ashley: God you're no fun anymore.

I really hate the comparison of Ashley to a prostitute. Partly because I think her outfit isn't nearly as bad as that (though I do still object to it on a few levels, primarily the reason behind why they did it) but mostly because I find it to be really mean and judgemental. And just another way for people online to bully the character, frankly I'm tired of it.

That said I really don't like the knee jerk reaction of 'oh so what, she has to be in a full burqa and be fat and ugly because you can't handle her being attractive' because I find that mindset to be bloody immature and juvenile. No I don't want Ash in a burqa, I want her to be sexy and I have consistently found her sexy throughout my time with Mass Effect. Item 2 on my list of things to do after 'save the galaxy' is 'take Ashley in the French fashion many, many times to celebrate'.
I just don't want her to be given a superficial level of attractiveness and for her to essentially seem to be being exploited all for the sake of 'sex appeal'.

Believe me, when people like me and iakus and to an extent AdmiralCheez speak out against this kind of stuff, it's anger towards Bioware. Not towards Ash.

That said I'm ready to forgive and forget. Bioware clearly have listened and gotten rid of those awful white pants and the armor is at least present which means that Bioware still are aware (or were made aware) that Ashley is a soldier and thus should go into battle in the right attire.
Maybe I just want to finally be completely happy for the first time in yonks and actually look toward Mass Effect 3 with a smile on my face rather then a bitter sigh of scorn.

I love my Ash and I'll do so regardless of how she looks, though I might be less loving to the people who changed her.

Bioware has given everyone more sex appeal. Granted they only mentioned it when talking about Ash but they were just being blunt about it there, sort of like Ashley. Think about it. They Buffed up Kaidan, Vega has possibly the thinnest T-shirt possible, and every male character has a magnificent body even Udina (I still cannot get over how cut he is for a politician >.>) They didn't lessen Ashley combat ability or make her any less of who she is because they gave her a sexy outfit and THAT'S what is important. She's not a prosititue or a stripper, She's Ashley Madeline Williams, Lieutenant Commander in the Alliance and Council Spectre.

Who the people who said Ash was the same rank as Shepard? I told them they were wrong back in the day but they seemed convinced. They have always marketed her as an LT Commander.

I was the one who called it before the beta leak. Admittedly that was a fan-fic scenario, but I called it.

Remember giggling and squealing with joy over it, if memory serves.

It was also a scenario where Shepard was a Major, unfortunately, I doubt that'll happen in this space-time contiunuim... but its my headcanon. I'm satisfied with that. :)

So i just finished me1 and i gotta say...it was awful. Seriously the only redeeming part was Ash. Im glad i started w/me2 cuz me1...yikes. i can see it being amazing when it came out but it could use a 2.0 touchup. That being said the Ash romance meant a lot more than it did before i experienced me1.

Shep should have a mountain man bead or the Tom Sellek mustache. Might just be me but I think Ash digs the fuzz.

ADLegend, seriously. Let it go.
I'm honestly at the point now where I don't care if people think Ashley is a racist, because it's not like it's going to ruin my enjoyment of Mass Effect 3. I'm still able to romance her, and she's still who she was in Mass Effect 1. Other then that, who cares what anyone else thinks?
Seriously, let them think whatever they want. If they are up for debates, sure I'll welcome it. But not juvenile name calling and bashing.

As I've said before all this 'my country tis of thee' self righteous bashing does is put us in the same position as the people who used to give us hell for the last two years. Only now it just makes us look ridiculous and like bullies because I can honestly say it's been a while since I've seen anyone make a 'let's bash Ashley' thread so attitude like this makes us look like a washed up prize fighter trying to smack talk an old opponent.

Also it really needs to be said, Tali does have a right to be concerned about Geth and to have animosity towards them. Quarians may have attempted to kill all Geth after they gained sentience but the Geth also responded by killing all Quarians they could find. Reducing a population of over two billion to a barren seventeen million.
Granted, no one comes out of the Geth/Quarian conflict looking particularly good and neither side gets the coveted 'moral high ground' but the descendants of that conflict kind of have a right to be pissed.

But still to conclude, I came onto this thread and this site in June 2010 so that I could discuss all things Mass Effect with people who were of similar interests and so that I could have a space where I could discuss my liking of certain characters like Ashley without the risk of being flamed for it. After a while I became roped into a long debate that eventually resulted in me being heavily entrenched in these stupid 'my character is better then yours' wars and I guess it's only recently that I've realized how stupid and immature they are.
After a while I grew tired of the bickering and the fighting and at long last when things started to die down, when threads about Ashley could be made without flame wars. Where people could calmy discuss why they like Ashley and people who can calmly and level headedly explain why they don't like Ashley, suddenly angry 'attack' tactics like this just drive me up the wall.

What I'm saying is, ever since I joined I always hoped I would see the day when I could have conversation about Mass Effect, Ashley and other characters without having to wave any banner or feel like I have to 'stick up for my favorite character' on the internet wars. Frankly I think that day has come or at least is as close as it ever will be. I can discuss Ashley without being flamed, that's what I wanted for the net. All I ever wanted.
So frankly, can we just end the angry attitude? Because right now it's looking more and more like we are the bullies in this situation now. And I don't want that to be the case, I like you guys and I like the conversations we have about Ashley.
Let's just leave this thread to just that.
