They were on away missions almost every single episode. And they were a darn fine team.
My Ashley will be with me every mission she's available. Because she's my Lancer and my Sniper and of course the Lightning Bruiser.

Going into battle without her is for me like leaving the house without pants.

My Shepard takes Ash every time because he knows full well, just how HELLISH paperwork is.

Also, he's trying to make up for lost time too. She wasn't there for the Collector base... plus Shepard's a bit of a slave driver.

I am loving all these wonderful CGI Shep and Ash gifs guys. Anyone notice the difference stance she has now compared to the first time we saw her. She looked more calm, cool and collected now

If there's a mass effect movie, it should be a cgi movie like this. Too many game-adapted movie get skewered.

I'm not sure where people suspect S1 means spectre. I think a lot forgot that Alliance rankings use all letters and numbers 1-7. Its like people only know N7..although I am curious as to the specific rank/classification S means.

Just see her as the "on the field XO", besides Ashley doesn't look like the type who can stay on a ship when others are having all the fun blasting the baddies on the planet below!

Her boomstick gets claustrophobic when it's on a ship for too long you know.

Just a theory:

N7 is basically the Alliance's answer on STG & Asari Commandos. That's an Elite Special Unit designed to do the job if everyone else failed. 

Ashley is no N7 material, or they simply didn't have time to introduce her to that program. Maybe it takes several years to go through that program? Who knows. However, Ashley is considered as elite soldier. Guess the "S" profession means either "Scout" (aka Pathfinder) or "Special Unit". Remember the "Pathfinders" in WW2? Those guys -were- elite units. So I guess Ash can be considered as newcomer in the Special Units / Pathfinders in ME3.

Indeed it is.

CGI!Ashley looks close enough and still entirely different. CGI!Ash has slightly thinner and longer brows, her nose appears to be changed. Overall, CGI!Ash has a softer, more feminine face compared to ingame!Ash. And ingame!Ash looks pretty feminine already.

'N' is Special Forces.

1-7 is the skill rating or proficiency of an individual or combat unit. Ash is 1 probably because she's relatively new to that branch of the Alliance.

Edit: Depending whom you play as, Shepard him/herself could have been an 'S' before shipped off to the 'N's... or it could be the designation they give you as soon as you leave the academy. I don't know. They're pretty vague on it...

IMO her in-game face is more feminine. CGI jaw looks a bit angular. But that's just my opinion.

Yeah that's curious, but I guess the program is like you said for N1's who can reach N7 through the "N7-Program".

I think She was a B4 in ME1 if recall correctly., special infiltration unit? sounds good.

 "Phoenix" could also be a callsign of hers too.
