Wrong.

Shepard needs something tangible to fight for. Sure, you could argue that he's fighting for the galactic community or maybe just human advancement, but those are abstract things and us humans don't do so well with abstractness. Shepard needs something concrete to look forward to and the safety and well being of another human tends to be an extremely good motivator if you see yourself up against impossible odds all the time.
Also, even if wether Shepard nor Ashley talk openly about long term relationship plans that's most likely what they have in mind. Or do you believe they think: "OH I HOPE WE MAKE IT THROUGH THIS FINAL MISSION SO WE CAN MAYBE SPEND A FEW WEEKS TOGETHER
 BEFORE WE INEVITABLY BREAK UP ; OH WELL WHAT CAN YOU DO, RIGHT SHEPSHEP?"

Exactly. Shepard fights for everyone, but the difference between "giving up & losing hope" or "continuing the fight against all odds" is caused by one single face (Ashley). Or maybe multiple faces (Shepard's friends).

Given the fact how Ash acts and such, she considers Shepard as "her love". Not just a fling or flirt or something short-living, but something she definitely enjoys and wants to fight for. Even if it doesn't look like that at first (Horizon) - she -does- fight (letter after Horizon) for her love.

Exactly. The beta uniform wasn't complete but her current uniform, although not fitting to the set, seems to be appropriate. Maybe it's an uniform worn by S1 officers? Or Ashley has a prototype uniform? Also keep in mind there are those "shoulder parts". Maybe that "uniform" a tuned down light armor we never saw before?

She is at least checking out if Shepard got "soft around the edges".
Also it's a bit odd she's smiling that much - after all, she's looking at a known ex-Cerberus operative AND known war criminal.
Maybe she finally realized that some things had to happen while others ... need to get sorted out.

I will freely admit that the reason I play male Shepard is to stare at his ass all game. No reason why Ash can't too.

@ Data. 

If anything, I think Shepard's just gotten buffer during the game. Look at the cinematic for ME2, he's very lean. In ME3, he's more buffed and bulky. Granted that could just be his new armor, but still, there is a notable different.

RIGHT. That confirms it people, Ashley's on a husband hunt. I mean, the make-up and the new suit were clear signs, now it's a 100% fact.
My Shepard's gonna hide with Liara for a little while... And study this in safety.

And  she was definitly checking if his ass was still fine.

She does stil believe in him, but as had been pointed out - Ash was too emotionally distraught during that conversation. Not to mention Cerberus is probably on the 'verse top five most hated factions list. And her formerly dead lover (whom no one told her was alive and functional again) appeared before her and it appeared as if he defected to work for Cerberus. Then he had the balls to try and recruit her as well. 

Yeah, saying Horizon was 'a bit too much' is an understatement.

She loved Shepard (if romanced). And if not, she simply was shocked by the fact he was working for Cerberus - regardless of what HE believed. She felt betrayed and hurt and confused at the same time.

Shepard is back without Cerberus logos and it appears he's with the Alliance again. Wait. Not true. He got stripped of his rank and is waiting for a final decision. Call it a "lucky strike" or something, but Shepard got reinstated because the Reapers returned and proved him right.

Now I'd say Ashley doesn't trust or believe in Shepard like she was used to in ME1. And from what I know so far, it won't change without some proper work from the player's side. That's okay and fits perfectly to Ashley's character.

@ Aurora: hey, this time we don't fully concur ^^
I say Ash doesn't believe in Shepard - at least not the way she did before. Maybe she does in a way that she KNOWS Shepard had to do what he did, but she wasn't able to swallow the fact he was doing it for Cerberus.

She's not really "covert" if you ask me. Actually, Ashley is quite open when it comes to her sexuality - of course only towards Shepard. But still - who has a girlfriend like her? Or who IS like her (in case some of you are a girl)?
It's good Ashley isn't prude which gives me hope the guys in USA will overcome their "dark age about sexuality"
